Love watching Sally Ann Howes and didn't know the other celebrity (although I'd heard of Mr. Ed)... But he's so funny! Great comedic timing and facial expressions. Thanks for posting!

I really enjoyed Alan Young's triple role in The Time Machine with Rod Taylor (1960). He would also appear in the remake with Guy Pearce (2002) in a cameo but the original was so much better. Also Sally Ann was lovely in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang especially on the music box. For those of U who have seen this movie you'll know what I'm talking about.

But what's really amazing is, even after accounting for inflation of the dollar, some household necessities were still just crazy cheap compared to today. A newspaper was $0.10, bread was $0.20, a bachelor's degree was around $2,000, a new car would be about $3,000, and average new house would be around $19,000. You could come onto some of these shows, like The Price is Right, and literally pay off your mortgage.

Producer Arthur Lubin said that he cast Alan Young as the lead in "Mr. Ed" because he seemed like someone a horse would talk to.

That was George Burns who said that, as he was an owner of Filmways Productions.

@@dariowiter3078 I know wiki's not always 100% accurate, but: "According to Lubin, Young was chosen for the lead role because he "just seemed like the sort of guy a horse would talk to." Burns' production company went bankrupt and was taken over by Filmways. It is possible George had a position there, but it's dicey saying he was an owner.

My God Sally Ann’s last partner Bill was incredibly dense. Knowsm you have to go try out for those game shows, and I can’t conceive how he was ever chosen. As a contestant he was as thick as a plank.

Maybe not as a first clue of course, but for a second or third clue for "Grind" I probably would have gone with "Coffee"... If the contestant said "Grounds" I think that would have been a form of the word and then hopefully the contestant would have gotten it right, with their one chance.

Which one? There were two on the show that day. I assume you mean the host Allen Ludden. At least on this show he admitted that he flubbed too much to make it as an announcer. I wasn’t sure until now he had that much self awareness😁
