"He and She" starring Richard Benjamin, Paula Prentiss and Jack Cassidy is, hands down, one the greatest sitcoms ever. There's maybe 12 episodes of varying quality on YT. Check them out if you've never seen it. It deserves a DVD blue ray box set release with commentary by stars who, as of this writing, are both still with us.
@manofmanyinterests3 жыл бұрын
I agree. Double bill it with 'Good Morning World' for two criminally short-lived series.
@MrJoeybabe252 жыл бұрын
I think it ended because Paula Prentiss didn't want to continue. Is that so? How were the ratings?

He and She was a bit too urbane and sophisticated for 1967 when the audience was still at the level of Green Acres and Hogan's Heroes. If He and She had come along 5 years later after TV began to grow up it would've been a major hit.

That diamond heart necklace was a gift from her second husband, Martin Gabel. Arlene wore it faithfully until 1988, when a mugger ripped it from her neck, stealing it.

There was a mic feeding back somewhere in the studio. It became aparrent whenever the audience applauded. If the technology was availanle back then, this would have been a perfect use of a feedback destroyer.

Jack Cassidy was cute,and I watched 'He and She', new.I liked it, even as a child.It should have stayed on longer.David Cassidy had brown hair, but he kinda looked like his dad, especially when he smiled.The common man playing on this episode looked kinda like Dick York.Weird.

I noticed that Arlene Francis was wearing the heart necklace that her husband Martin Gabel replaced after the one that he gave her was stolen from her. She always wore that necklace until her death. Sometimes when she wore it, she had it inconspicuous on her. But, she never failed to wear it.
@ChrisHansonCanada4 ай бұрын
She didn't wear it until her death. It was stolen in the late 1980s when she was on the street in New York city.

I think the "hurry up call" Allen mentioned to excuse the absence of Donna Douglas was to see her doctor. Watch the 5-30-1967 episode and you'll see what I mean. Still nice of Allen not to reveal anything publicly to embarass Donna to a national viewing audience.

It appears Arlene had already looked down when Cathy extended her hand which was not really outstretched as a handshake. I believe Cathy was unsure at first if she should extend her hand and Arlene at that point seemed to have her mind elsewhere.

The one thing I did not like about Alan Ludden was during the "Lightning Round" he was always trying to coach them and tell them what to do. That would mess mess me up worse than helping me. He should have kept quiet and let them play.

They tended to be a little more relaxed with clues like this , where it’s part of a word, than they did with hyphenated or two word clues. They tended to go easy on gestures too unless they became too blatant. Although they were very strict where the clue was a full word within the password.
