Granny was the best sitcom character of all time. nobody else could have played that part better. it's funny to see her not being Granny. how they could do a scene without cracking up every time she spoke must have been tough.

When I watch these older shows I am struck with amazement at how polite, and classy everyone acts, A stark difference in comparison to the way people are nowadays. The one word that comes to mind is "respect". Respect for others and yourself, which is sorely lacking in todays society.
@larrywakeman43712 жыл бұрын
YES, SO TRUE, today's idiot lib young intermixed people should WATCH these old shows of this era and SEE what ETIQUETTE and RESPECT and PROPER ENGLISH IS... my mother always said, that when you let these minor*** people get more and more leeway, THAT leads to the degradation of etiquette and proper manners-- SO TRUE. Look at ANY movie from the 30's to the early 80's: total CLASS and etiquette. NOW: girls and women look like TRASH. Another thing is the disgusting: clinging maternity clothing UGH, how disgusting. WHAT HAPPENED to beautiful FLOWING maternity clothing like Elizabeth Montgomery wore? Lucille Ball? Princess Grace? Now it is show and tell and GROSS looking, to be honest...and I am a woman and I htink it is very unflattering and down right ugly!

PashasMom Meezerlover Yes, Williams did do five episodes, but he was slated as the replacement for Pernell Roberts. Then Roberts came back reluctantly so Williams was given the wife leading to his exit. This came reportedly after someone in the cast convinced the remaining stars that Williams would intrude on their lines and possibly their thunder. That is why I stated how Williams was jobbed out of a part in a hit series and millions of dollars.

Why does Ludden swing his arm like that every time he takes the podium?
@ddruxman3579 Жыл бұрын
Something weird with yanking the mic wire out from the rear of his suit jacket. It was definitely weird, but i guess the trademark gesture on his entrance.
@kraleigh5467Ай бұрын
Assume he was making sure he wouldn't trip over the attached hidden wire as he turned and walked to the podium. But it is both an odd and trademark gesture for him. Another is the open downward left hand toward the audience/camera when the password is superimposed on the screen.

You're right remember Matt's last answer that he probably wasn't going to keep that money.. just like Jackie coogan and Jackie Cooper the parents confiscated their money. And young man pretty much knows the game.. the parents always score and the kid would probably get a baseball card for his trouble. Or maybe a Marx Brothers a wind up train set. That's what I got when I was a kid.

@kraleigh5467Ай бұрын
I don't think so; he was just at that awkward age and was likely shy. Image being shy and 12 and on national TV with two major stars and you're under pressure to be smart and quick. In front of a studio audience, big cameras and bright hot lights. And representing your family. That's a lot.
