Mam u said when we are talking about the past habits "always" can be used in simple past and the same explanation is given for past continuous too. Bit confused mam. Please watch the videos on both the tenses. In the case of Past Continuous tense, a short action interferes a long action. In the case of Past Perfect Continuous tense, a long action had preceded and had also come to an end before an action in the past. It is a good question!

madhan j 'was' and 'were' are the simple past forms of 'be' I was at home -- நான் வீட்டில் இருந்தேன். We were in school -- நாங்கள் பள்ளியில் இருந்தோம்.
