I know where you’re coming from with the Gilbert x Violet ship, I just feel like it’s very weird- he’s known her since she was 10 which therefore means that It was most likely a family type of “I love you” and also, just because it was okay then, doesn’t mean that it was right. It would be fine if she was 18, but she’s not. I don’t mean this in any hateful way possible I understand that everyone has their own ships. I just personally don’t think it’s okay. It’s literally shipping like a middle school/first year in high school girl with a grown man. (He’s 29 mind you) it’s not a 10 year age difference, it’s a 15 year age difference and Violet is still a teenager I forgot to say that I know she is 18 in the movie but it’s still VERY weird considering she met him when she was a child

In the movie they reunite when Violet turns 18, so at that point she's basically old enough to be considered an adult. I don't really like it either because of how the age-gap is that big- and I rather look at it as a father-daughter type of relationship myself, but as long as they're adults and they both consent it's not illegal for them to be together romantically.

A 10 year gap isn't really that much. I have family members that have even more than that. As long as their happy, I don't really care. This is my own personal experience and opinion though. (I'm talking about the description)

I don't really ship Violet with Gilbert because I see it more as a father daughter reletionship, Plus, I ship Violet x Amy. Because they are, in my opinion, a very cute ship and better than Gilbert x Violet. I'm not saying it's wrong to date someone older than you, but you have to be the legal age and other important stuff, it's just I don't see Gilbert and Violet dating. Yes I know Amy's status and that, I watched the anime.

(I'm talking about the description) While I agree that love is love and you should be able to love who you want that doesn't mean everyone always should follow their hearts and be with the ones you love because it may have been "okay" back then it's not okay now and I get that it's the main ship of the show I don't really agree with it I only watch it because it's a really beautiful anime and I like the plot (in other words I don't watch it for the romance) and I know many other people who agree with me btw I'm not trying to hate on the ship or anything because everyone is obviously entitled to their own opinions I just want people to know that just because it was right back then it's not right now I'm very sorry if I came off as rude I was trying to be as nice as possible

Well you aren't wrong, the term "love is love" shouldn't be used in order to justify a pretty illegal ship, but at the same time they don't end up together before Violet turns 18, which means that since they're both adults they're both old enough to make that decision themselves. The age-gap is kinda off-putting, but it's how it is.

Guys remember in the time period the age gap is not bad some people would be together even younger! Plus violet was 18 when she confessed (legal) Ik it’s weird but it’s the way the anime was made so don’t bring hate! Also some of you say she would be better with one of the females! I did love the video but I do have a question. Did Gilbert like violet that way canonically? I thought the I love you was more of a father daughter relationship, plus the age gap is….interesting. I do know large age gaps in relationships were more common back then tho. Again, this is a genuine question and does not affect my thoughts on the video, it was beautiful

Still in the last movie I don't find it that bad, for saying something mostly because Violet is 18, and it would be fine and legal. But Gilbert knew her since she was like 14, saying that they have been in love since then until they met again it's weird, and I just don't like it. Although, maybe someone sees it different.
