Hola mi gente! Primero que nada, muchas gracias por ver este video que da comienzo a la serie de recetas navideñas! Empezamos con la Bandeja de Pastel Puertorriqueño Gigante al Horno! Esta receta rinde para una media bandeja y te va a sobrar para que puedas preparar una deliciosa crema de viandas o preparar los pasteles amarrados. Esperamos que este video sea de inspiración para tu cena de Acción de Gracias, cena navideña o para cualquier ocasión!
Hi mi gente! First off, thank you so much for watching this video that kicks off the holiday video recipe series! We'll start with the Big Baked Puerto Rican Pastel in a Tray! This recipe will be enough for one half tray and will leave you with some leftover masa which you can use to prepare a delicious cream or to prepare the regular wrapped pasteles. We hope that this video serves as inspiration for your Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas dinner or for any other occasion!

I love it! It's great to see new creative recipes that break the stupid traditions. I used to see my grandma and my family making pasteles just before Christmas in Ponce PR and it was a traumatic experience, the prep, the amount of masa and meat that they used to cook! (the traditional way) The leaves had to be cooked too! I like this because it's easy and it probably taste great! Great luck to you!!! Thanks.

@Princess N. Hi! No, I haven’t tried his recipe... I make it different them his. On the cilantro, I like the quality from Safeway... I use cilantro and culantro a lot and I do grow both of them in my yard.

OMG! This takes me back to the good old days! Now I feel home sick. Utterly miss all this fabulous food I grew up eating but haven't had in years. Love, love your beautiful big kitchen, your close ups, your lighting, your bi-lingual explanations, perfect, perfect video. I do suggest you write down the English names of certain items, i.e., yautia, yucca, achiote, under your description so that we can find these items in non-Hispanic markets (there are none in my neighborhood). Please do a video on how to make homemade sofrito. Love, love everything about your videos!

Wow you are the best. It looks easy but it’s a lot of work but best of all you put a lot of love into your work. If my mom was alive she would do this on a jiffy just like you. It is lots of work my mom unwrapping to feed family was mind boggling. By the time you throw away the paper and thread the pastel would be cold. I thank you for making this easy. You really are Savor with love. We used to get together every year to make pasteles. We each had our job, tie, spread etc.. But since Mama past away, we got together once, its almost a lost art. How sad. But the to you & your pastel gigante, that empty spot has been filled. What I decide to do is make them in smaller trays & give one to each of my sisters. So THK U, THK U, THK U For bringing the tradition back to me in a most unigue way!!! I can do this by myself. God Bless You my man!

My mom may she R.I.P. used to make it exactly like yours the only difference was the she also added potatoes to the Masa. And the leftover Masa makes excellent Alcapurrias.
