To one who says all remarriage after any first divorce is a sin taking you to hell: Jesus wasn’t making new laws. -Anymore than he told us to poke out our eyes. Yes as Jesus pointed out to the Pharisees who challenged him, 'from the beginning when God instituted marriage it was never His intention that it should come to an end by divorce'. But with the fall of man there have been some temporary modifications the Scriptures have shown to justify a Christian divorcing and re-marrying if they choose to do so - and there's been no reconciliation with the former mate. Mr. Jennings leans very heavily on Mark 10:11&12 or Luke 16:18 (both of which do give the impression it's wrong to divorce and remarry). However both writers apparently concentrated on the latter part of what Jesus said - because Matthew 19:9 is not the abbreviated version of Jesus' position as written in Mark and Luke. It is the complete standard Jesus taught on this matter. You are all told that Matthew 19:1-9 is about "betrothed" or engaged couples because as he spins it, "married people can't commit fornication only adultery". This is the wrong reasoning of him on the Scripture. Understand please, Both Matthew 19:1-9 & Mark 10:2-12 are dealing with the same exact occasion of the Pharisees challenging Jesus on this topic. Now you will notice that when they did this, they referenced a Biblical passage from Deuteronomy 24:1-4, and if you read it - it's clearly dealing with people who are COMPLETELY MARRIED - NOT THE ENGAGED (and considered husband & wife in name only), as was the case with Mary and Joseph before the angel of Jehovah directed Joseph to 'take Mary to his home as his complete wife'. From that point on by God's pronouncement Mary and Joseph were now completely married and able to live under the same roof and eventually become intimate - Matthew 1:24,25. There was no such thing as "shacking up" with your betrothed or engaged wife or husband before an Israelite was officially declared married. The young lady's father had to release her to go be this man's wife & to live in the same home and be sexually intimate. The Scripture at Deuteronomy 24:1-4 says, 'If a man takes a woman to be his wife AND MARRIES HER...but later finds some uncleanness about her he could give her a WRITTEN DOCUMENT OF DIVORCE & SEND HER OUT OF HIS HOUSE; And she could become another man's wife living in the new husbands home & the new husband could do the same thing if necessary'. Again the Pharisees questioned Jesus not about single people of the opposite sex (in an engaged husband & wife situation before marriage), but people who were already completely married. And Jesus logically responded on that basis about married people as that Scripture clearly shows. How ridiculous for him to have ignored that and start responding about engaged couples. So to say, as Mr. Jennings does, that two kinds of wives are being talked about is pure NONSENSE. And squeezing in the situation of Mary & Joseph, being called husband and wife before married by God, as he always does has no bearing on this whatsoever. Deuteronomy the Pharisees used to challenge Jesus on is about MARRIED PEOPLE. The other big mistake he makes to you all is not understanding that originally Jesus did not say just fornication only at both Matthew 5:32 & Matthew 19:9. By the time the original King James Bible was released some 400+ years ago, very little information was available on the full meaning of the original Greek word Matthew recorded Jesus using - "PORNEIA/O". All they knew was it was in reference to Prostitution or single people of the opposite sex having sexual relations - fornication. Since then an avalanche of documents of that time of Christ and the Apostles shows that "PORNEIA" was the commonly used word used to describe ANY AND ALL SEXUAL ACTIVITIES involving the genitals OUTSIDE OF MARRIAGE. This word was used to describe not only fornication but also: Incest, Homosexuality, Beastiality, Prostitution and even ADULTERY too. This is why modern reputable Bible translations, including the New King James Bible, often say things like "Sexually Immoral" or "Sexual Immorality" - because those expressions match the original broad meaning of "Porneia". And most significantly even the Scriptures shows this to be the case. Recall if you would the situation of Sodom and Gomorrah and the areas around them who were wicked for various reasons but mostly for there EXTREME indulgence in sexual depravity that involved not just fornication but homosexuality as well. In fact homosexuality was so rampant The Bible says, 'ALL THE MEN of the city from young boys to old men wanted to forcibly have homosexual relations with the two male visitors in Lots house & maybe even Lot as well' - Genesis 19:4, 5 & 9. But that original Greek word "Porneia" was used to describe the sexual immoralities of these people. Because it was way beyond heterosexual sex between the opposite sex - Jude verse 7. The use of the word fornication there in Jude verse 7, in older transactions such as King James, doesn't really make sense; If as Gino Jennings puts it, 'fornication is something done only by single people of the opposite sex'. Because clearly the homosexuality was off the chain rampant in that area. So even the New King James Bible says "sexual immorality" and not fornication at Jude 7. A man in the Corinthian Church was having sexual relations with either his own mother or stepmother - 'his father's wife' - 1 Corinthians 5:1. Regardless of whether she was a mother by blood or even as his step mother - it would be considered incest on some level and was forbidden. Plus she being married was commiting adultery on his father. His status as single or married isn't spoken of there. But the original word used there in Greek by the Apostle Paul was not fornication but "Porneia" to describe this immorality that was going on. A prostitute having one on one sex with a single individual or even multiple partners at the same time is described as "Porneia" - Revelation 18:3 & 9 and 1 Corinthians 6:16. These are just a few examples to show that word used by the lord Jesus at Matthew 5:32 and 19:9 has more than the limited meaning of fornication between single opposite sex individuals. "Porneia" includes Adultery as well - make no mistake about it. You said your husband committed adultery at least with two other women and obviously despite your forgiving him, you both have never reconciled. And you've denied yourself an opportunity of marriage because of this false doctrine taught by Mr. Jennings. And that's sad for you and others also who've denied themselves a Scriptural justified new mate. Or this foolishness taught y'all also about breaking up the new marriage & to go back to the 1st mate - even if kids are involved. Or wait 'till the 1st mate has died to be free. UTTERLY RIDICULOUS AND MORE IMPORTANTLY UNSCRIPTURAL. Even Deuteronomy 24:4 advised against going back to the 1st mate. He always takes out of context the Scriptures that do say, 'You must not leave your mate' or 'You're bound to that mate for life'. And while that is true it doesn't apply to someone like you who has the Scriptural grounds of adultery as the basis for the divorce and new marriage as Jesus stipulated in Matthew. Contrary to what Mr. Jennings teaches, your ex-husband IS NOT YOUR "LIVING HUSBAND" - he is your former husband and that marriage is no longer seen as such in Jehovah's eyes now. It's over and done with unfortunately. So Scripturally, if you choose to re-marry you have the right to do so, you always did. If this old school friend is good to you and appreciates God's word and is willing to still have you as his wife - By all means you should definitely marry him - you don't have to be alone. Do not be mislead and shamed into believing "God calls you a "hoe" or "whore" as Gino Jennings has often read out to you from an uninspired apocryphal book. So please reason on the Scriptures and research what "PORNEIA" meant back in Jesus' day as well as today in Greek - it's easy to do so. Bro same here. I was married last year to a divorced woman and I was afraid because everyone was telling me that I committed adultery because I was married to a divorced woman. If you initially divorced him for adultery that was on proper Scriptural grounds, because adultery is one of the meanings of the original Greek word Jesus used called "PORNEIA" at Matthew 5:32 & Matthew 19:9. "Porneia" was in those days and still is today a word that means any kind of sexual activity that involves the genitals outside of the marriage bed with another living being - human or animal. It covers not only fornication but also: beastiality, incest, homosexuality, prostitution and adultery too. But considering the attempt to reconcile didn't work and he is now living with, and obviously sexually involved, with another woman - you definitely do have the right Scripturally to divorce him again and if you choose in the future - remarry. It is not true that Jesus said only fornication at both Matthew 5:32 & Matthew 19:9 and it only applies to single people, engaged to be married & thus called husband &wife in name only. That is completely wrong, because the Pharisees were quoting the Scripture at Deuteronomy 24:1-4 which deals exclusively with 'married people living in the same house and allowed to have sex relations until, for some unclean reason, the husband writes a bill of divorcement, gives it to the wife and sends her out of his house. She could then marry another man in come under his roof...' So when Jesus responded back to them he was aware of that Scripture and wouldn't have responded about the engaged, who had no full complete rights of a real married couple to live together sexually - that would've been ridiculous. So when he goes on to say 'there is one exception for divorce allowed to qualify for one to re-marrying, if they choose because they can't remember, it is adultery - which again is one of many expressions of Porneia Jesus originally mentioned. So to reason that married people can't fornicate is correct technically by definition. But again a little research will show you that Greek word covered more than fornication as Mr. Jennings wrongly asserts. It was used to refer to the homosexuality of Sodom & Gomorrah at Jude 7. The incestuous & Adulterous affair a man was having with his father's own wife was called by Paul Porneia originally in the Greek. The King James Bible and others years ago didn't understand the word beyond fornication & prostitution - but now scholars know much better on research of documents of that time period, and when translations are updated now or new, such as the New King James Bible - they'll say "Sexually Immoral" or "Sexual immorality" in many of these places - because those expressions are more broader and accurate. For example: if as Mr. Jennings contends that fornication is only something two single people of the opposite sex can do, then why would it make sense at Jude 7 to say the men of Sodom & Gomorrah were fornicators - when Genesis 19:4,5&9 makes it clear that homosexuality was extremely rampant when it says, "All of the men of the city from young boys to old men came out & surrounded Lots home to have sex forcibly with the two male visitors & maybe even Lot too'? No Porneia was what Jesus mentioned and it again means all kinds of gross sexual conduct outside of marriage. The Scriptures at Mark 10:11&12 or Luke 16:18 are abbreviated versions of Jesus full complete statement on this at Matthew 5:32 & Matthew 19:9. They have to harmonize with Jesus' one law on this matter or what he says is a big confusing contradiction. And that's not possible. So you say you're still unmarried? Well if it's by your choosing that's ok. But if it's because you've been misled into thinking you can't re-marrying under the circumstances you mentioned - that's completely false. If you didn't have Scriptural grounds the first time of the divorce - you definitely do now with your former husband having taken up with another woman sexually. The Scriptures about 'separating and remaining un-married' or 'you're bound to your husband all your life' do not apply to you any longer - because in God's eyes this man is no longer your living husband as Gino likes to always say - that marriage is now cancelled out and is no more. God does not call you a "hoe" or "whore" in The Holy Bible of 66 inspired books. No this man is teaching you the wrong thing on this matter of divorce and remarriage: At both Matthew 5:32 & 19:9 - the original Greek word used there didn't simply mean Fornication, as older Bible Translations rendered it. But the Greek word PORNEIA Matthew used meant: ANY SEXUAL SIN INVOLVING THE GENITALS OUTSIDE OF MARRIAGE such as - Fornication, Adultery, Beastiality, Pedophilia, Incest, Homosexuality, incest, etc. Research of that words use back in Jesus and the Apostles day, as well as it's varying uses in The New Testament make this clear. Adultery is in the category of PORNEIA, as it's a sexual sin outside of the marriage. Knowing this now is why all reputable modern translations, like the New King James Bible, use expressions like "Sexual Immorality" or "Sexually Immoral" at both of those Scriptures in Matthew and else where in the Bible too ; To describe other sexual sinful situations that involved more than simply sex between unmarried people of the opposite sex. Unlike Gino Jennings teaches, Matthew 19:9 was not about single people, who were engaged, but having sex outside their engagement. Because The whole conversation Jesus was having with the Pharisees, starting at Matthew verses 1-8 is in reference to Married people - not the engaged types. This is clearly seen by them both quoting Scriptures that dealt with people who had ...'LEFT their parents home, are living sexually as ONE FLESH under their own roof & Later a WRITTEN DIVORCE DOCUMENT is given to the woman & She is SENT OUT OF HIS HOUSE. Now legally divorced she could be MARRIED AGAIN & If the 2nd husband found her unclean - he could also give her the same divorce document and send her from his house as well. She could not go back to the 1st husband as Jehovah considered her "defiled" sexually by the 2nd husband to go back and expressed distaste for that.' Read it all for yourself and see & look up the Greek Bible word PORNEIA that was used. Jesus quoted from GENESIS 2:24 & The Pharisees DEUTERONOMY 24:1-4. Those Scriptures they used have nothing to do with engaged types of couples (who were only considered husband and wife by title only as Joseph and Mary were at first - before God then approved them to be really married by telling 'Joseph to take her to his home now'. That was not done unless you were married in Israelite culture - unless you were fully married - there was no shacking up together. So when Jesus tells the Pharisees, ...'unlike Moses who allowed all this divorcing on any grounds, & now he, Jesus, would only allow it in ONE ground of sexual infidelity (Greek: PORNEIA), he was not suddenly jumping off speaking about the married - to talking about the engage types. That was a clear continuation of what they were already talking about - Married couples. Mark 10:2-12 are speaking about this same occasion and the only difference is that Mark and also Luke 16:18 concentrated in the latter part of what Jesus said about not divorcing, but didn't mention the exception Jesus included. But Jesus' complete stance is seen at both Matthew 5:32 & 19:9 in it's entirety. So you have to understand Mark and Luke's statements in harmony with Jesus' complete position mentioned twice in Matthew - so there is s no contradiction. Matthew was simply more detailed on this part than Mark or Luke. People who divorce on the ground of Adultery & can't reconcile have the same right to remarry as a person whose mate has died. If that mate was divorced for Adultery, they are NO LONGER "STILL YOUR LIVING MATE" - as Gino Jennings wrongly insists - but now your FORMER MATE and God no longer recognizes that former marriage valid & you are free to remarry on that basis Scripturally.

In the New Testament, "fornication" comes from the Greek word porneia, which includes adultery and incest. So this scripture is saying that if your partner has commited adultery, you can remarry. Look up the original Hebrew of the word fornicatioin used in Mathew 19:9. It encompasses adultery and all sexual immorality. This is not debatable.

Me disobeying by getting married who i was unequally yoked with, went thru hell, separated and now we're divorcing...knowing i cant remarry is the thorn in my side. First,. Jesus came to take up the sin of the world. All sin so yes you can repent from adulterous, abusive or any marriage that is not lead by God. Grace and mercy. I believe if you divorce just to marry someone else then God would not be please.

By researching the everyday language of documents from Jesus' & the Apostles time period and down to this day it is completely understood properly. That word Porneia Miss means "ANY AND ALL SEXUAL ACTIVITY OUTSIDE OF MARRIAGE INVOLVING THE GENITALS OF LIVING BEINGS"....Because it's all sexual sin outside of sex in God condoned sex in marriage. PORNEIA covered: Fornication, Adultery, Bestiality with an animal, Pedophilia, Homosexuality, Incest or Prostitution - it all falls under the category of Porneia in the Scriptures - and there are Scriptures that prove this as well ; Such as Jude 7 originally using that word to describe ALL the extremely gross sexual Immorality that was happening in Sodom, Gomorrah & the other cities around them. Remember Mark and Luke weren't as detailed on Jesus position as Matthew was and those Scriptures have to be understood in harmony with Jesus' one complete standard stated in full to the Pharisees. It is also not true that Jesus was addressing unmarried people when he stated this twice at Matthew 5:32 & 19:9 or was he was referring to the "espoused" or engaged types. This is proven if you read his and the Pharisees conversation right before starting at both Matthew 19:1-8 and the same story being told at the same time by Mark 10:2-9. Both Jesus and the Pharisees were quoting Scriptures to make their point that dealt with people fully married not "betrothed" or "espoused" to be married. Jesus quoted Genesis 2:24 and the Pharisees quoted Deuteronomy 24:1-4 - both of those Scriptures are referring to married couples not the engaged to be married types. Engaged couples were not described in the Bible as, ' living together sexually as one flesh, but still at home until they married & had the right to do this. There was no necessary need for a written bill or certificate of divorcement, do the man could send her out if his house' - as those Scriptures they used points out clearly. So that when he told the Pharisees next,.... 'Moses allowed all this divorcing on any grounds out of your hard hearts - BUT I SAY TO YOU there is now going to be only 1 GROUND - PORNEIA to justify a divorce & remarriage' ; He was obviously still referring to the same fully married types he was dialoguing with the Pharisees about using those Scriptures. He was not now suddenly jumping off talking about those fully married to refer to engaged couples - that's nonsense and being read into it that way by Mr. Jennings own twist interpretation because he either doesn't understand or deliberately ignores the true meaning of that Greek word Porneia Matthew recorded there - which again refers to ANY KIND OF SEX OUTSIDE MARRIAGE LIKE ADULTERY TOO.
