I'll admit, I watched this video with the interest of seeing how a pastor would react to it. Listening to you really grasping the message was great, loved seeing that. But hearing "I'd rather a person reject God than accept and live as a hypocrite because at least you know what they stand for and people need space and time to get where they need to be spirituality". Man, I respect that. As an Atheist I really wish there were more people like you in my small town growing up. I have the utmost respect for what you do and the support you provide to your community. Having patient and understanding folks like you helps lessen the anger some confused Athiests have about religion. It's all about accepting and respecting who someone is now instead of assuming that's who they'll always be and not grow more as a person later. And how cool is it that everyone can meet in the middle over some great music? Love it. Thanks for the solid words, keep up the awesome work.

Same here. I am an atheist and the number of times I have had religious people and pastors try to shove their religion down my throat without respecting that I am a person with my own beliefs like they do. I am always glad to see and hear preachers or pastors like him who respect others as well

My problem, as an Atheist, is that religious people don’t get it. When they find out, they just think that I actively choose to not be religious and it’s like a part of my identity (which is a form of projection on their part). It isn’t. I stopped believing in the stories because I found out Santa Clause (pagan) and the Easter Bunny (also pagan) weren’t real. That carried over to Christianity and then at the age of like 6 I discovered Ancient Egypt. That took me down a lifelong rabbit hole to where I just can’t believe in “God” or “God’s”. I’ve died before. Nothing was there. No light, no nothing. I was 13 so it’s not like I was in hell or something. You’re there, then you wake up elsewhere with nothing in between. But even the nothingness of nothingness, where everything ceases to exist, is peaceful, where peace doesn’t exist. Point is, there is no judgment by me, despite judgment passed on me, by people who claim to know the Will of their God while saying, in the same breath, that “God works in mysterious ways”.

I like how you said to "not fake it". I used to fake it just to make my family happy, and I was absolutely miserable. It took me a long time to come out of the atheist closet, but I felt so much better after I stopped pretending to believe in a god for other people. Great reaction!

Depression, anxiety, and stress are three horrible things to be feeling. What’s sad, is you can’t tell anyone what you are feeling without them telling you, you are not feeling it. Anyone going through this, know you are loved, and I hope you get the help you need without the need to go down the bad path.

I stumbled onto this video through the classic KZfaq rabbit hole. But let me say as a Christian who grew up dealing with severe anxiety and depression, it is amazing to see you taking the time to really explain what is happening here. And thank you for not censoring the music, you allowed the raw emotion to truly flow out of it which in return allowed you to give an outstanding analysis of it. First of all i applaud your reaction. In this song Ronnie is expressing how he is seen in public. People see him as "a liar, cheater, non believer". Because of his past he is easy to hate. He is a "Popular Monster". After much contemplation I truly believe Ronnie has a personal relationship with God. In this song he is calling out the people who profess to have a relationship with God but really have no idea what that is. I grew up in the Baptist Church and didn't really have a clue about the Creator until I left the church and did many years of soul searching. After learning more about spirituality and reality I was reintroduced to Scripture. That was a life changing event for me. Reading the Scripture with an understanding of reality and spirituality gave me a whole new understanding. When Ronnie says "You pray to a God that you don't Believe" he is referring to people who have no real understanding of the Creator or the creation even though they profess to be "Christian". How can you be "Christ like" if you don't even know him. People will say Ronnie is a non believer because they have no idea what he believes in. If you notice, in every recent video he is always wearing his cross earring.

I'm kind of (pleasantly) surprised to hear a pastor react to this song and not be freaking out and decrying him for the language... The sad truth is that so many people in the church expect those who are outside the church to conform to the morality of the church even though they don't have the source of moral that the church does. And they like to ignore their own faults and failings and "pet" sins. People like Ronny (the singer for this band), if they come to faith (which they can) tend to be the most on fire and influential and "real" Christians you will ever meet. Look at Head from Korn....
@Pr.JamesD
@Pr.JamesD 2 жыл бұрын
I can understand why they do that, because I used to do it. When I began to carefully how Christ behaved among the unchurch, then I realized that I also had to change. Thanks your comments, very intuitive.

Its interesting how different people see this story so differently. Ronnie himself said that the story actually largely depicts his view on society; the glowing eyes represent various addictions our society has; drugs, money, social media, fame. Then he acculmunates these addictions to represent himself and the struggles he has been through to then form the kicker "Popular Monster" because Ronnie himself is popular and he has been addicted to all of these things on his journey but he now recognises that they werent good for him. Ronnie to this day keeps himself very humble and down to earth. He streams on twitch playing video games, reacting to reactions of his music and in general being very interactive with his fan base. The little girl at the end is his actual daughter, which to Ronnie became a grounding point, pulling him out of the destructive rage he found himself in (werewolf scene).

There are few things I love more than watching people discover new music. That’s said, there is so much to unpack here but beginning is him trying to get help and getting brushed off. I don’t know if this is a phase, this is his real life and it feels like it’s everything. He finally snaps and then people start taking him seriously, even though it’s been deathly serious the whole time. The end isn’t so much about god as it is that he’s challenging all the things people have offered in passing without trying to really help. It’s just a phase, oh just have faith this is the plan, and people saying “prayers” and such. Now that it’s come to a head , where is your god? Searching for the truth in the lost and found. Finally his daughters presence calms him and cages the monster and that love is more powerful than all the words people have said. So glad you found fallling in reverse, they have so many great songs and if you look at his personal growth and accountability and the messages of his song, I think you will really enjoy it.

Even for all the work hes gone through and trying to make amends people dont ever look past his past and constantly villify and demonize him. thats the eyes flashing when people are lookign at him in the alley and the shrink selling him out. he sees people around him as inhuman becuase they cant look past his mistakes.

Where is your God? why even ask the question if you’ve never read the manual. However with that being said, God understands the struggle, as a follower of Jesus once said, “Lord I believe, help my unbelief” even believers struggle with faith at times, so yeah I get the video and song, no shade, just understanding

I find Ronnie(lead singer/creative) an interesting figure. Clearly very smart and talented. I think he is in the middle of that same personal revolution many of us go through. When you stop viewing the world in systems and start viewing it in terms of relationships. This is also when you slowly move from left to right. When previous atheist start to see God in the world. Regardless of what form God takes to that person, he tends to show up when your relationships form your worldview.

Falling in Reverse has some really great ones to check out. I'd like to hear your reaction to their trilogy. It's a series of music videos starting with "Losing my Mind", then "Losing my Life", and ending with "Drugs". It talks about breaking that cycle of drugs. It talks about how he never really knew his mother growing up, and how he's had to realize what's important in his life (his daughter) and how he has to "kill off" his old self to ensure his daughter doesn't have to live the same cycle he lived. I'd love to hear your take on it.

I believe in God, I am an Orthodox Christian, and yet, I listen to Heavy Metal music. The reason I do is because I agree with most messages metal artists try to communicate about depression, anxiety, and more. It hits me to my core, mostly because it reminds me of what I felt throughout middle school, high school, and college.

I absolutely loved the way that you broke this song down! So many of us, (really I think at some point everybody needs some kind of therapy) and you really need a good therapist rather than some doctor who just wants to pump you full of medication, and need a doctor/therapist who actually LISTENS to you and knows that you’re at your breaking point. Some things may just be phases, but a lot of things run much deeper and if you’re not able to get that rage, anger, & pain out behind closed doors, then one day you’re gonna unleash hell, like Ronnie did in this video. Amazing job sir!

I know there is a serious issue with people looking from the outside and seeing some Christians not following the beliefs. The struggle is different for everybody. Some may struggle to understand while others understand, but struggle to follow. Sadly, I went a long time rejecting christianity due to others, but believing and following it's beliefs. I have no idea why allowed others to influence my relationship with God.

@Pr.JamesD
@Pr.JamesD 2 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question. Depressed Christians do not mean that faith in God is insignificant either. Neither, is it God’s fault for their depression. I think some of it is subjective and circumstantial depending on one’s situation. Going to back to your initial question. One must choose to believe because he has enough evidence to verify the truth of God’s word, and he has experienced salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. No matter what might have been your prior position concerning, a revelation of His love through the cross will energize faith in Him. Secondly, an experienced with God will solidify faith in Him. These factors are essential in order to believe in God. Please Keep in mind, when a person chooses to believe in God, there will be positive in his life, but not without a struggles. Some of the changes are instant, others are progressive. But if you keep on believing through it all, He promises that you will be an overcomer in the end. Hope that answer was good enough. Please email me if you would like to talk more private, just in case I fail to read your response. I have lots of comments to go through daily.

@@Pr.JamesD Thank you for your response, but my meaning by my initial question was, for example me and a lot of my friends grew up in Sweden in a household where no gods were present at all, no religion at all maybe a little bit of paganism but nothing serious if you know what I mean?

People have a lot of options on the little girl at the end as far as whom or what she represents and I think that is what one needs to see honestly...first they say she is his real life daughter and I love that. OK now for what people think...she is the only thing that calms him and his inner beast...two he lost the fight and she is leading him to the light after his darkness...three she is a manifest of God and his faith is renewed...like I said everyone has their own thoughts and I'm sure there are more...thank you and may blessings continue to be upon you and yours...

The part where you mentioned molding your character. I actually struggle with that alone. It's like a way of coping every rage and hatred that stains my mind and I use music to help. I didn't know that was the primary problem with me. My hatred and anger becomes so unnatural it makes me feel like a puppet for a darker power. Hearing you talk about character molding really made me realize my mistake. So I definitely ask for prayers. I do pray for wisdom, strength, courage and power to overcome myself. But after hearing you talk.... This is far more serious than usual. Thanks for teaching me my downfall. I'ma try and be more careful. Prayers that I overcome myself...

Yes it's a good song but the key element is people don't understand the court room scene as someone who has serve depression coupled with violent intrusive thoughts this is spot on he didn't kill the court room literally but inside his head he most definitely did and I can relate to it because I have the condition my condition is labelled as HARM OCD I take medication to keep me level headed and stop the intrusive thoughts and negative thoughts and feelings so I can 100% relate to this song

I do believe in God, I haven't always but I do now. What I want to know is what do you do when you are angry with him? It's been several months now and I cannot get over this anger I have towards him. He took someone special from me and it is tearing me apart inside, I can't find it in myself to forgive him for taking her from me. I know she wouldn't want me to feel this poisonous feeling but I don't know how to get rid of it. What do I do?

You should listen to Metallica Creeping Death-its a Bible verse of Exodus; and/or the band “Creed” A Christian metal band that made these intense songs about the fight to continue going, battles w/ his own demons or personal struggles in believing at times. Songs like:-My own Prison, My Sacrifice, Six feet down or One???

@@Pr.JamesD Absolutely agree here. Creed is almost straight up Christian when you really listen. And Metallica is always throwing the symbolism and scripture into their's as well. The struggle is real. Which is why He is always with us.

Ronnie is always very honest and as U said dont mind sharing his vulnerability in his lyrics, actually he does that a lot ! Plz check out the trilogi as requsted by others . And I would also like to suggest U react to Im not a vampire / Im not a vampire revamped ! Same song / lyrics, but totally diff versions ,done 10 years apart ! Plz do a double reaction when U do it , cause it shows how much hes grown vocally, And if U think this is like a movie , oh boy ur in for a treat , Ronnie always make amaazing videos ! Loved Ur reaction , hope U will check them out some more . Liked and subsribed 🤗

when he says we're the fuck is your God now makes me think that he's right because God can't really save you from evil when someone has the want to hurt you they will God isn't gonna save you from that now people will say he can make things happen and save your life and stop you from dying which ok i see that but why would he let you go that in the first place its messed up

Sometime He does save when He wants. Many I did ask Him, and He did do it. As matter fact He is doing it now. Not just for me but for my entire family. You need to have faith in Him to experience His salvation.

Im not a religious man, in fact there's many reason I have a disdain for "God". Abandoning some of his children in Lucifer and Lilith; in fact not only did he banish them for behaving how He made them He nigh on had people write Lilith out of existence. Most believe that Eve was the 1st woman, even followers. That's not a deity I can support. It's the ultimate narcissist. "Adhere to my whims or I'll banish you and/or have you punished for eternity". To a point he doesn't teach his children, He abandons them. I dont understand how people can support such a being. Lucifer simply punishes the wicked. Who is the really the evil one? I could go on and give may more reasons I cannot bring myself to follow such a being, but that's not the purpose of this message (my little rant is almost a kneejerk reaction, such is my distaste of God's behavior, and I toned it back out of basic respect for others, even if some wouldnt see it that way). I simply wanted to say that despite my beliefs I can see with perfect clarity that you're a good man, and a great pastor. Your "flock" is lucky to have you.

Dude really? What you quote is the same as what the Koran says. Jesus this. Jesus that. Prove this. Please prove what’s in a book translated 50 different times is true. Should be easy if he’s really what you claim. Just prove them all wrong and Jesus is right.
