To me, " tonight we all die young " means that with the death of Rev, they all died a little bit. A big part of them, a big part of their life died and changed, and will never be same. But they will move on, and they will come to terms with what happened. The last part of the song is very powerful and sad, with a little bit of piano behind, similar to an eulogy. They love him, but life must go on, so in many ways to me, this song is about death, and life, but also hope. And yes, i can listen to this song in every part of my day, all day long, from morning till falling asleep, because this song is about a beautiful friendship, about how we must cherish a good friend, and about hope.

Paid For The official channel Good to hear haha. You and Kat have a good dynamic. I want you to know that I appreciate your videos too and I think highly of you. I like the way that you approach things with an open mind and aren't afraid to share your beliefs. You just seem like a genuinely cool guy. These videos are of particular interest to me because I was a Christian for most of my life and still consider myself a very spiritual person so I can relate to you and the realm that you're coming from and as you can probably tell from my icon, I'm a Sevenfold fanatic. Hopefully I can help out in the comments if there are any questions about what the band intended in a song or where they're coming from mentally since I have followed them very closely and researched the meanings of their music and thematics. I feel that I have pretty similar beliefs and thought process as the band members. Anyway, thanks for responding and keep up the good work!

Isaiah Richardson actually id recommend that listening to the guitar and instruments is vital In the entirety of the story! I hear maniac craziness and someone trying to deal with this loss in different yet similar coping mechanisms hence the similar chord progressions for example. If you take this into account you will undoubtably link the lyrics and instrumental together. Thanks for reading this book I wrote lol

I think if you WATCHED the video to "So Far Away" you would understand more their love for their former drummer and maybe clear up a lot of these lyrics. Was it a suicide? Was it an overdose? I don't know if I ever call it either of those. It was just an inevitability. He had an enlarged heart and always expected to die before he was 30. I think he was in a lot of pain and he could not fight it anymore, whether physically or mentally. When he handed in the song Fiction he knew he was going to die. He titled the song "Death" when he handed it in to the band 3 days before he died.

I believe The Revs death was from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs and alcohol, but he was diagnosed with an enlarged heart which people believe played a significant part too. Himself and the rest of the band knew he would die young, but to die at 28 is such a loss and shame. I never got to see The Rev perform live, he was so talented 💔

Sadness and desperation are all part of being human, so I relate a lot to these songs because of their deep humanity. We don't have to be happy all the time and only appreciate the good. Recognizing and facing our darkest parts is not only healthy, but beautiful in a way.

@paulm8908 9 ай бұрын
there is a difference in despair. on one front, we are in the candy shop without a coin to buy. this is disparate in the fact that we are unable to consume. the other despair is that of the point of recognizing that the spirit of what we attempt to consume, is blocked by the demon in our way.

The way I take the ending ("tonight we all die young") is from the perspective that both the fans and the band members are pained over the Rev's death; in collectively singing 'tonight we all die young' I believe that it is a way for all to grieve together - die with the Rev through the song so to speak.

This song has a big impact on me. It was in the night time that I had gotten news of my closest family member's passing and I was actually listening to this song. I was so torn down inside by it. And looking back now I realize that I did die young that night. And I appreciate this band so much for helping me through many struggles I dealt with. This and the band staind. But this song hearing it again since 2015 has really struck a chord and made me realize the impact and how much I've changed as a person because of that tragedy.

Great reaction! I noticed on the audio that I didn't hear some of the harmonies like on the intro, idk what happened there but as a guitar player myself the way they harmonize riffs and the solos are one of the main reasons I enjoy their music! It stands apart from other bands that just do the whole verse, chorus, verse chorus ...maybe a short solo "if your lucky" and then chorus. As a musician myself I like the fact that these guys take time to make their music stand out. They compose complex enough to make the music interesting and they have alot of classical influence which I adore in metal! Just my opinion but metal bands these days just don't touch the greats like Metallica, megadeth and dream Theater. Of course I'm biased because I grew up on these bands and I feel mastalgia that connects me back to my youth. I get bored as a composer of music myself with pop music in general. For me I just enjoy this band because even though they are popular they still impact people kind of like a Beethoven piece does and that to me is awesome because the intelligence and depth it takes to write like that is rare these days. To each their own but I love it. I don't like all of their lyrics because I'm not into anything that references evil as good or anything that disrespects my chosen beliefs or God himself but the music is always on point! This song has great lyrics because they are questioning things and expressing themselves to obtain knowledge and the depth of their sorrow for their best friend and drummer is expressed very well in this song. Like I said, to each their own, I'm not here to judge anyone that's God's job I just have my preference when it comes to lyrics but the dream metaphor has been a consistent theory of mine throughout my life. I often feel like I'm in a dream. Sometimes my dreams make more sense than my life when I'm awake!!! lol. Anyway, great reaction and thank you for acknowledging this type of music unlike some self righteous people that think their crap doesn't stink as they judge everyone and everything around them! Decernment is one thing, I believe it's important for a believer to test the spirits as you said but sometimes we have to get in the world a little bit to get to the people that Jesus would search for. He didn't come for the saved, he came for the lost, even to the degree of casting out demons at times. Jesus died for those that didn't think they where worthy of his love and those that where mislead by false profits and liers that told them they where unforgivable! He came into this vile world to shine a light of hope onto the hopeless, salvation for the lost and love for the hated and unloved. For me personally I think this music is for thinkers and deep explorer's, those searching for understanding and answers to elevate their minds and hearts to a place of atonement and peace. I'm glad to see a pastor sincerely giving his opinion and expressing his thoughts while sticking to the foundation of a believers faith at the same time. Not compromising your stance on what you believe but also being open to others opinions and actually helping people that are searching in this life for answers. When I share my beliefs I try to put myself in others shoes knowing that I once was lost, depressed, angry, mistreated, underestimated and searching for a consistent contentment and a foundation solid enough to rely on while I was breaking underneath the weight of all those things. I found what I was looking for in Christ and I'm here today because of my faith and God's unconditional love and mercy. I literally would not be here without him. I have seen miracles in my life and I am one of them. The fact that I'm alive and have been long enough to be given this gift of life beyond my destructive past is a miracle in itself! My son is a gift from God that solidifies all the proof I need of an intelligent designer. I have many other answered prayers and miracles everywhere I look from my past til now but I'm not here to prove anything I just wanted to share my thoughts. This band is musically gifted and so refreshing to here in the climate of this pop music explosion of simplicity and random lyrics about money, fame, woman, lust and bling. It is rare to find a band equally popular in today's music culture that has substance that's beyond ignorant bliss. They say Christians are brainwashed but I personally have never taken my brain out to wash it. It is dirty and slightly destroyed after years of debauchery and carelessness, it functions good enough to bring me to the feet of Jesus Christ. I know this is not a popular belief but I don't care about what's popular in this world I mean look at my taste in music, popularity is a default in the minds ability to develop into a well functioning machine built by a very unpopular God. We must search for the truth and not worry about what everyone seems to think truth is. Being popular is not a sin, it is a gateway to a world that wants you to join in and throw caution to the wind and follow whatever is easy to follow as you get lost in the mess it makes and you give up on any kind of order or obedience of any kind just because everyone says it's a good way to live, not being accountable for your actions and sins. It is time to wake before the dream becomes a nightmare and the nightmare becomes reality. Just my thoughts and opinions folks. If you want to crucify me for my beliefs and my disregard for an earthbound mindset because I follow Christ not man -then take a number and get in line. I'm not here to be complacent and nod my head just because my beliefs might piss someone off! I believe what I believe and I always explain myself to a degree because people are important to me and I think sharing my faith and what works for me is important and needed in this world of sin, hate, corruption and lies. Keep up the good work, you are reaching some people out there that normally wouldn't be reached and that's what sharing the good news is all about. God bless.

Kevin Lee, yeah I know right! lol. Sometimes I just go off and I feel like I have to explain myself and at the same time I'm like defending myself for believing what I believe even though I don't feel I need to. Getting on the internet and voicing my opinion is like walking into a crowded room and talking about my point of view, I know a majority of people don't believe or care so I tend to put up my defenses in advance. I asked God to take fear out of me so I could speak openly about my beliefs and he did. Not to everyones approval obviously but deep down I just want people to ponder possibilities, that's how I got where I am and if I where still afraid to speak my mind many would not consider what I am saying. So thanks for the upvote! lol and thanks for reading my book.😁

The band members are actually loyal Christians from what I hear, the lyric you were analyzing at the 17:20 mark: He may be out of his mind But someday you will find That sanity’s left us all blind And dragged us all behind From what I can tell, the “He” references their drummer, he was known to be called crazy or insane a lot for his perspective or words, but it was often also really insightful, because he was unique and didn’t fit the common mold of society. And that’s what they’re referring to by sanity, is the societally accepted behavior and way of thinking. Society gives you a role without you being able to choose, and if you step out of line or question any of it YOU’RE the crazy one. And that’s what he means by “Sanity’s left us all blind and dragged us all behind” is panting a picture of what our world could be if we spent more time helping people understand HOW to think instead of just WHAT to think and believe. So much potential wasted by manipulating huge masses into complicit inaction

I think a large part of the reason people including me enjoy this music (apart from the mastery of their instruments, the guitarists are extremely talented and as a guitar player they inspire me) is that they are open, vulnerable, and in my opinion they have perfectly found how to put their emotions into song. They tell a story, but not one that makes you feel a particular emotion, but one that amplifies your own emotions, one that makes you more aware and understanding your emotions. Their music has helped me and I’m sure it has helped others a lot

I’ve watched several reactions from this channel, and the pastor seems to miss the point of nearly every message. Example, this song is an attempt to portray a feeling of not knowing how a person may have betrayed another. The “vile” aspect comes from the realization that you may have been wrong in your previous assumption. There are several other points, but that is the most salient.

I just discovered this Channel and I have fallen in love with this. As a Christian and an Avenged Sevenfold fan, I’ve always looked for a Christian message behind all of their songs. I have found one in majority of the songs prior to the album, The Stage. Even the Band’s name is biblical in referring to Chapter 4 of Genesis, with the story of Cain and Able. Much of what you have said is new to me though, with most of my knowledge being Old Testament. If you could comment back, just so I know that I am being heard here, I’d like to have a discussion over messages I’ve found that are different from your messages (this goes to any viewer). This phrase in my opinion means, as people already mentioned, that a little part of the whole band died with Rev, because he had a huge influence on their music creation and was rallying the group together. “Nothing will be the same any more”. This music certainly gives kind of depressing feeling so I don’t listen to it often, but the song is really beautiful.

Death is the personification of permanent change and loss. "Tonight we all die young" is probably referring to the loss of youth and innocence as a result from their friend dying - a grievous maturing scar. I believe throughout the song they are calling out to their friend from a position of being atheist or agnostic but desperately hoping that their friend is there and can listen against their own 'atheistic sanity' - begging that insanity [theism in this case] has the answers not just in the case of their friend but the point of continuing on through an otherwise pointless life.

To me the song is about people who have passed and are stuck here for whatever reason and they are reaching out to us who are alive to save them from their situation.. the first two verses and the chorus says it all. They all know means we all know they died but they are stuck in the living world probably confused and suffering.. Led by the lunar light trouble is way we find i think is when they scare people at night when they have more access to show themselves to us?? Idk but its def about a spirits prespective imo

some people react certain ways to certain songs. for me. im sure i interpret this in a way they didnt necessarily intend. but with many of their songs, one side of it is that it helps me release emotion. and as someone who grew up being (Forced) to bury my emotions, songs with heavy dark themes, and a lot of pain behind them and power. its a really good release. sometimes when im driving for an hour or two commute... i listen to Avenged sevenfold music, and ill sit there and laugh, get angry, cry even. and all the emotions that this band can give me helps center me. by the time i get to where im going. Anxieties, fears, any negetive emotion, is either gone, or dulled, because of all the emotional release that this heavy music has given me. im sure that may sound really weird to you considering you are a godly man, and this band isnt really.... that ( for lack of a better way of putting it). I love Avenged Sevenfold.

I am reminded of that famous quote by John Donne (pardon me if I don't get it exactly): "Any man's death diminishes me, because I am a part and parcel with all mankind. Therefore never send to ask for whom the bell tolls: It tolls for thee."

the revs death, was a question by the rest of the band as to where his soul went to. the entire song is about where we all go when we die, and if we are worthy of gods love, regardless of our transgressions. that being said, it goes to the rest of the song, that the remaining members ask themselves that question. are they asking god to save the rev, or are they pleading to god to save them?

We live to die, but we die just so life can go on. Life, all life needs to survive, therefore a human can do anything in life but when they die, it will be done for nothing except the things that wasnt done for you but for others, for the future. You can try and make your life focus on happiness but it wont give meaning to your life nor will it give much of an impact on the future. If there is no impact with meaning, all we are doing is living to just die.

What's with the distaste for guitar solos? Completely serious question, I just don't get why some people absolutely require lyrics to enjoy music and can't just enjoy music as... well, music. I don't know, to me when I'm listening to certain genres of music I'm listening almost 100% for the actual MUSIC itself, with the lyrics being secondary. But I guess with the way people treat music these days it tends to be the reverse for most.

What an awesome concept for a review channel. Subbed I’m a devout Christian but also seem to gravitate toward a lot of very heavy music (avenged sevenfold maybe even being on the lighter side). Odd as it may seem, we can’t control what interests us. I can’t say I resonate with lyrical content. I may even go so far as to disagree with a lot of it. It’s more the sound and delivery I appreciate, as well as the technical Prowess of the players. Wish I had more to add but as far as the line repeated at the end, or just about any other metaphor or literary device used, I don’t have much personal connection.

To me "we only wake up when we sleep" is saying we only wake up when we die. Like life starts in the afterlife. "Trapped in a vile world, where the end is all the same as every other, we're only here to die" is sort of comforting to me, because it reminds me death isn't scary and everyone goes through life and dies like everyone else.. It makes me think if they do it I can and it won't be bad. "I could use some guiding light some place to go, if you hear me let me know" is like calling out to God and not hearing any answers. The Bible says seek and you shall find, it's like saying then please if you hear me, save me. This priest is really narrow minded in my opinion, is it just me?

I am a man of faith but not to any individual religioun I just believe in God and felt his presence I am a recovering addict almost died three times and honestly the nightmare album got me through the worst time of my life with a lot of praying.People write songs out of creativity and I had a pastor tell me I was a sinner for listening to Avenged who is my favorite band. They help me heal and I battle depression and anxiety really really bad.I guess I’m kind of interested your thinking of the band does listening to them make me a sinner I don’t believe so and there guitar solos are beautiful. There music is touching and beautiful and I actually when I pass am having the nightmare album played at my funeral.I think it’s the best album every created by any band. But they are my fav and I think every album is amazing. Also sometimes people write music but it doesn’t necessarily mean those are there beliefs js.

You guys should do some more avenged sevenfold songs. I listen to them to for spiritual messages and purposes I do alot of analyzing as well. they have lots of songs that have Bible story references and some even about revalations my favs. But this is my second video in and learning some new stuff from u guys so thanks so much for your guys take on the spiritual meanings behind metal songs. Greatly appreciated!! I think God intended me to watch you guys honestly because I've been falling astray from God and leaning more to the wicked side in my spiritual battle with God and the devil and I'm scared because I was scared looking for spiritual truth so I turned to a powerful drug to search for my own answers to understand and seen what u guys are talking about (the spiritual realm) and don't really understand but I kinda do at the same time. It's terrifying and it felt so real I seen so many horrors of hell it legit felt like I was there words can't describe, but for some reason I loved it and wanted to see more of all the evils. So thanks and God bless u both for confirming that I wasn't crazy all along. I'm getting myself back together slowly and finding my way but I'm still a lost broken soul. So thank you both so much. PS I used to be into occultism and Satan worship for spiritual purposes only.

There are 3 songs...Fiction , So far away and Save me....all about Rev. You should actually play all three before you try and butcher the meaning of these songs. How could you complain about the guitar solo? Synyster Gates is one of the best guitarist currently playing. You really need to appreciate the music more. A7X is an awesome band!!
