I am a 64-year-old BTS fan who just wants you to know that it is great to see you reacting to this phenomenal group. THIS song is about sensuality and its temptations, but not purely on a sexual basis. It is based on Herman Hesse's "Damien" and is about the temptation of the world in general. The boys represent various characters in the book.

the mv is tied to the theme of the temptation ("the temptation" is written behind the boys at 1:36), but that's not all the meaning, it's not just the metaphorical story about how we always want bad things. the MV and the whole concept of Wings album and its short films, in another words the whole era is based on symbolism connected to the Herman Hesse's book Demian, where the main character (MC) explores his psyche while growing up (spoken lines in this MV and short films are quotes from the book). Theme goes along with coexistence of 'dark' and 'light' in our lives. MC was taught to see only the good side of the world, which is wrong, because the world isn't perfect and has bad side too. One can't live fully embracing just the good. You should accept both. The quote from the book that i really like is MC's thoughts: 'Why are only pleasant things attributed to the God if he created the whole universe? Are not both the light and dark sacred?'. The visuals of mv follow this theme: boys grew up and now facing new temptations to overcome or succumb to it thus they are acting defiantly, as if trying to seduce the viewer. There's a lot of pieces in the MV that are full of symbolism: every picture, statue, sound, object • green color plays the role of a bad things like a devil's blood or a poisonous absinthe reputed to be a hallucinogen and banned in some countries. Namjoon is connected to the absinthe, his lines are "But your wings are wings of the devil. In front of your Sweet is bitter bitter" (2:34). behind the sweetness of the drink (absinthe is often drunk with sugar) lies its real essence of bitterness. it symbolises succumbing to temptation and denying the real world in favor of an illusion. we also see green smoke around Yoongi (2:18) and in the room where both Namjoon and Jungkook are (7:52) • an apple which means sin both in the religion and the book. Jimin is connected to an apple specifically, but they also all have an apple on their plate in the last supper scene (5:30). in the same scene we see the vials they all raise up to drink (5:34). the lyrics say "the grail was poisoned but I drank it anyway", which in imagery brings us back to absinthe, and it's once again the collision of good and bad, the holy grail and the blood of devil. moreover in the choreography they incorporated the move alike to drinking from a glass (7:49) • Black and white doors on the sides of the “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” picture (1:34) that can be representing the inner fight of good and evil. “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” itself depicts the fall into hell of angels who rebelled against God, they turn into ugly monsters and good angels give them battle. In fact, this is the main idea of the struggle between good and evil, the choice of your side in this battle. there were also sculptures of an angel and a demon on the sides of background in the set for the choreo (4:58) • behind Jungkook's back is a painting of Icarus (10:03). I think everyone is familiar with Greek mythology and is aware that Icarus was presented with wings, but he could not resist the temptation and flew too close to the sun, causing the wax in his wings to melt so he fell. The story echoes the ideas of the song and the title of the album itself: "WINGS". Behind Tae when he jumps from the balcony is "The Fall of Icarus" too (9:40) • a blindfold that keeps one from seeing the worlds as it is - then when blindfold is gone you see green tears (14:22) • as the veil, that used to cover Tae aka the fallen angel (5:03), lifts up (12:02), revealing everything that people usually deny to acknowledge, Jin kisses the statue of a black winged angel (12:35) as an acceptance of a darker side and resolution of the inner chaos. after the dark is released we see green tears again (12:53) • above the mirror there's a Nietzsche quote 14:26 (who also has a lot to do with the book's ideology): 'You must have a chaos inside you to give birth to a dancing star'. It's a reference to Nietzsche's ideas about a superman - a creature who, in his power many times surpasses an ordinary person, denies fear and regret, and uncompromisingly follows the chosen path, being the creator of his own destiny. The superman is described in his book "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" and the ideas from there closely connect with "Demian" MC in the book has a few mentors, with help of who he learns life - and you can see that in the beginning of the MV every younger member is paired up with older one. Younger members have symbols of youth and innocence with them: a slingshot, a lollipop, a bicycle Jin is an observer just like the MC in the book. He has yet another symbol of innocence, a ballon (9:55 and 10:24), which he lets go. He is also the one whose face is covered with hands, which is similar to the way Yoongi covers Jimin's eyes to not let him see the dark world. however, Jin's face is being slowly uncovered as the mv progresses (10:14). he is in transition to adulthood You also can notice that the rest of the boys are divided into 'good' and 'bad': • Namjoon drinking green absinthe (2:34) and subverting yet innocent Jungkook into it (5:06 we see the green wax drop probably from Namjoon lighting up the drink, as it's the only fire in the mv. Jungkook licks off his finger 5:15, this narrative also developed more in the japanese mv) • Jimin having an issue with temptation (holding apple 9:35) and Yoongi trying to save him from it (closing his eyes with a hand 1:43 or a blindfold 10:11) • Tae being the fallen angel himself with his cut off wings (12:39) represents that dark, rejected side and Hoseok represents hope and shooting a colourful arrow to him (7:35). I think Hoseok's theme is more prominent in the Japanese version of the mv (it's COMPLETELY different, but be careful, Japanese releases can get blocked). J-hope also has the statue of Pieta (4:51), that has the meanings of piety, compassion, that breaks apart in the end after the characters meet with the dark side (14:31), just like Jin's face breaks (14:41) after accepting the flawed world in its whole. also, Yoongi playing organ is a direct reference to the one of MC's mentors (10:43) I would say that especially from Jimin-Yoongi pairing in this mv you can tell that there's no answer what is right: good or evil. The apple is the sin, but the sin is the part of the world. Neglecting it and being blindfolded prevents you not only from "bad" things but from living a life and being yourself: the blindfold holds Jimin to a closed door and doesn't let him go (10:22) the Nietzsche quote also give a hint that hiding from bad may actually be worse then the bad itself, because without accepting all sides of self one can't reach their full potential. and BTS has a whole another era talking about exploring one's self So the story is about exploring the world in its good and bad in order to explore your own self and become something greater

Great exposition. Just one thing, the statue Jin kisses is Abraxas, a ‘god’ figure who perfectly combines good and evil. Both Jung and Hesse were inspired by Nietsche and it seems to me that Abraxas represents an abstract Jungian Ego, reconciling Persona (the purity that Sinclair initially strives for) and Shadow at the moment of Sinclair’s acceptance. The ideas in Wings have a direct through line to the Map of the Soul. They started this exploration even before Wings, during HYYH, with the graffiti Tae scratches and the words on the telephone box.

@Mark-vj7zd yes I often find wings era and mots era similar in the theme, but depicted from different points in life. decided not to get into the Abraxas, bc that would have me going into more bts content other than bs&t :] but it's a great mention, thank you! Abraxas was introduced to MC of Demian by one of his mentors as well. referencing Abraxas isn't farfetched, since in Jin's short film from WINGS era another quote from Demian is used, "The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world. The bird flies to God. The God's name is Abraxas". the image of Abraxas is all over the wallpaper in the corridor in that short film, and the corridor ends with a framed picture of bird flying up. The quote pretty much summarizes Blood Sweat & Tears as well. your perfect world ends with the limits of an eggshell and to reach the sky and fly you need to accept destruction

Hi! I'm a 68-yo ARMY with a degree in literature and a masters in religion. I was so excited to see you have reacted to this! I've watched it dozens of times, because the layers upon layers of symbolism and character fascinate me. Others will tell you the video is based on Hermann Hesse's book Demian, written in 1919. In it, a youth leaves home and is tempted by all the evils he finds on his journey. The "you" isn't a relationship partner, but a temptation, sweet, but bitter. The painting in the beginning is The Fall of the Rebel Angels, by Pieter Bruegel the Elder in 1562. (I've been lucky to see it!) and Jin is transfixed by its meaning - which you Reverends can look up. From that point on, each member is confronted with some kind of evil. The statue Jin kisses is Abraxas, through various mythologies it represents God (actually pagan Sun) and a Satan-like evil god at the same time. It's only through the crumbling of La Pieta and the tears on faces that we know what happened. Suga accepts the apple of evil, does Jungkook smoke opium? V is lost in sensuality, RM goes for the evil of opulence. Speaking of RM, he is the lyricist, trilingual, and knows darn well "more" sounds like "money". The video pulls in Jungian psychology, Greek and other mythologies, simple contrasts between black and white, with so much to see. It was a filmed in a combination Korean temple with built sets. It's a masterpiece. I enjoyed your reaction, my family is full of pastors and they always had something to say. I'll look for more!

This isn't related to the album series about love. This is earlier. It's not necessarily about romantic relationships either. It's actually about temptation, especially the tempations of youth. It is based on the book Demian by Herman Hesse. That's why there is a lot of mythical and also religious imagery. (Side note: It was filmed in a "real place" in the way that it was a real set, built especially for the music video shoot.)

As many have commented, this song is from the concept album Wings, which is based loosely on the novel Damien by Herman Hess. What I love about BTS is that they do write accessible pop music, but if you delve a little deeper, you will find a wealth of ideas inspired by philosophy, history, psychology and literature. You can do a full study course just by deep diving into all the source material that inspires them.

Okay, so this is gonna be a long comment so bear with me! “Blood Sweat & Tears” is the title track of one of their albums called “WINGS” (2016). This particular song and entire album uses a plethora of references that link to one book: “Demian” by german writer Herman Hesse. This book tells the story of a young boy named Emil Sinclair and his childhood growing up during pre-World War I. He struggles to find his new self-knowledge in the immoral world and is caught between good and evil. Already we have some clues as to what this song/MV is about: the battle between good and evil and temptation. The video opens up with the members in a museum; notice how every member have symbols of innocence, such as a bike or slingshot; also each younger member is paired with an older member, their “mentor”, referencing “Demian”. Jin, the oldest member, is by himself. He is staring at the painting called “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” by Peter Bruegel the Elder. (good angels fighting Lucifer/evil angels fallen from Heaven). He is about to begin his journey towards finding his true self and identity. On the left & right, there is a white and a black door, which represent the paths Jin can go on: the good side and the evil side. Now, If you notice at 1:56, Jungkook is on a swing, and behind him is the painting called “The Lament for Icarus” by Herbert James Draper. Jungkook is representing Icarus troughout the whole video. (V also represents Icarus but in a different form). The swing could represent Icarus being safe, the Icarus following orders (he is supported by a swing, safe from the wrongdoings of the world). Also, notice the lollipop in his hand. This could symbolize either another symbol of innocence, or Icarus’ age as he was a child. Later we see a drop of wax dripping on JK’s finger (5:06). This is a representation of the fall of Icarus and foreshadows what will happen to him later in the video (JK licking the said wax from his finger, a symbol of Icarus’ temptation that would later come in as his downfall, foreshadowed by the painting in the back). At 9:40, V is representing Icarus but also a fallen angel (this scene can also symbolize the fall of Lucifer: he rebelled against God and fell from grace, tempting more angels to do so in the process, thus connecting to the painting at the beginning “The Fall of the Rebel Angels”, maybe this is why he smirks after he falls down the balcony). Behind him we see the painting “Landscape with the Fall of Icarus” by Pieter Bruegel the Elder. This scene represents the death of Icarus (he ignored his father’s warning about flying too close to the sun, until the wax that kept his wings attached to his body melted…and so he fell to his death-again we have the theme of temptation-Icarus falling to temptation. But…at 9:56/10:03 we see Jungkook again, but this time he is floating. He in this scene is dead, and him floating in the air represents how Icarus started “floating” in the water after he fell and drowned, connecting V’s and JK’s scenes. We also see feathers floating in the air and on the floor as well (being underwater). So the whole Icarus imagery in this MV comes in like this: stage 1: We see JK on the swing, Icarus being alive; stage 2: V/Icarus falls off the balcony and into the water; stage 3: The painting in the background (“Landscape with the Fall of Icarus”) foreshadows JK/Icarus when he is floating/drowned (him being dead/underwater); stage 4: the painting behind JK (“The Lament for Icarus”) foreshadows V/Icarus having no wings on anymore which is the final stage. Now, the kissing scene. (BTW, RM is reading a paragraph from “Demian” at 10:25, if you didn’t read the book, you will not get it; also, this scene portrays Jin letting go of the balloon. This can represent letting go of his childhood innocence, his youth and moving into adulthood) During the interlude of the MV, all the members run towards the exit except for Jin and V. If you notice, Jin has a very confused and scared look on his face while V blindfolds him with his hands. After that, a white statue with black wings appears: this statue represents the god Abraxas-the deity is a representation of good and evil. It is not good or evil, it is both (good and evil into the same word). After that, Jin walks closer to it, takes a look at it then kisses it. This scene represents how Jin has finally embraced both good and evil into himself (by kissing Abraxas), thus destroying the world of innocence he has lived in prior to this. We then see V with his wings cut off, giving a smile to the camera (him smiling could symbolize that Jin’s growth is complete, and he finally accepted chaos into himself which leads to self betterment-theory of Carl Jung: accepting your shadow). Again, Icarus but also a fallen angel. So this whole MV is revolving around Jin most of the time, he is the main protagonist of this MV (his path to adulthood, maturity and acceptance of an evil realm). The quote above the mirror at 14:26 is written in German (belonging to philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche) and translates as: “You need to have chaos in yourself in order to give birth to a dancing star” basically meaning that if you don’t accept chaos (evil) into yourself, you will not be able to grow to your full potential. At the end of the MV we see the old version of Jin, the version that was only pure and innocent cracking, there is no chaos in him and so he cannot give birth to the dancing star. Other scenes that further strenghten the overall theme of the MV include 2:34, RM “drinking” the poison/temptation, 5:29, a “Last Supper” kind of setting in which all the members have an apple and a chalice, both signs of temptation; 9:35, again, a blindfold and an apple (forbidden-fruit) and so on. There is so much I didn’t say here, and also keep in mind there is also the BU (Bangtan Universe) consisting of a fictional storyline, this MV is heavy in that matter as well which is a whole other story to dive into!

im sorry to break some army's bubble, but the "bts never use CGI" is a myth ofc there are many mvs that are filmed with practical sets and props only, like blood sweat & tears, fake love, etc. i can see the attraction to such practices (and i share it) and i see where the pride comes from. there are a lot of situations when people who watch their mv for the first time guess that this or that was done on a green screen, but it wasn't, and army take pride in it :) and there is nothing wrong with that pride however, they don't have any strict principle to not use cgi. they don't rely on it, it's not the go-to way of doing things for bts, but when it's needed, it's done masterfully. it can be bits and pieces that can't be done in real life (like wings in black swan) or a whole spectacle of cgi (like idol). Idol was filmed with a loooot of cgi because it was on purpose to exaggerate it after they've been criticized for using it, ON used cgi in a collaboration with cinema level production companies to create exceptional visual story, Dynamite used cgi because the weather was bad and they had to change plans and i think both are cool when done well! i love both sides of bts visual artistry and i want us to be proud of both, as bts themselves are proud of both

ARMY should definitely stop saying that BTS don't use CGI at all. They often do have real sets, but to say they never use CGI just makes it sound like the person doesn't know what they're talking about (especially since you can sometimes see how they do things in Bangtan Bombs). It's always good to point out if some sets were real, but it's not all or nothing. The CGI myth is unfortunately so persistent.

I’m pretty sure that someone already made a point of this, but in that case I’d still second that BTS’s songs aren’t really about a love/relationship between two individuals and more of a concept of love overall. Yes, they do sneak inside some particles that would make it seem related to one person which will make the song more appealing to the public, and it may also have that meaning, even tho it’s a bit unlikely for 7 people to share this at the same time in this case in order for the song to be as meaningful for all of them, but most of the times when there is a “you” it’s used as a plural, because over time they started saying that “you” addressing the love or pain appearing between them as a group and family, or directing it to the fandom, having questions about all this popularity, new friendships and responsibility that comes with such a big following. At times music also becomes personified, passion alike, will, and so on. Their growth actually stands in understanding love step by step, from silly adolescence love back to their debut, to the aspects of more mythical, a kind of a thought love in this case, in the wings album where they take a deep dive in the ideologies of Hesse and Jung, going into a self, applied shared and felt love in the love yourself series (the three albums you mentioned) and going into a more mature, understood and accepted love in their further works. I hope this makes sense, because there wouldn’t be any short version of their 10 years (almost 11) on this path which can only be discovered by going to their discography, which army is here to help with. In any case, I love watching the reactions and hearing your real opinions on this so I hope you’ll continue this for a long time. I wish you a blessed week and thank you for your kind thoughts 💫

Blood Sweat and Tears video and song were built and written based on Demian, a novel by Hermann Hesse who won a nobel prize in literature back in 1946. I read this book (because of this Mv) and I'll try my best to interpret and summarize the story here. The story follows a young boy named Sinclair who had a friend named Demian. Demian acted as Sinclair's mentor during his childhood and transition to adulthood. Sinclair as a young adult experienced series of existential crisis, believing he lived in between the world of light (the world of illusion, full of goodness) and "the dark world" (the real world which is full of lust, temptation, anger and evil world). Demian, and later on Sinclair's another mentor Pistorius, believed that in order to become a full person a human needs to embrace both of their light and dark sides. This would then lead Sinclair to find out about Abraxas, the god of light and darkness. There are sooo many imageries and jaw-dropping details on the MV that represent details in the book that I cannot write here because this comment is already an essay. lol. But the point is this song is a coming of age story, about temptation, about being a human and embracing both of your good and dark sides. The scene where Jin kissed the statue (which I believe the representation of Abraxas) means he seals the deal with the devil himself in order to fully embrace himself as a person who isn't perfect, full of flaws. The white and black doors represent the world of light and the real world. Suga playing organ is probably the representation of Pistorius, who was an organ player in the story. The phrase that RM read in English here was also taken from the book, page 26 (on the version that I read). It says "He too was a tempter, he too was a link to the second, the evil world with which I no longer wanted to have anything to do." "He" here refers to Demian, that Sinclair once thought as a bad influence for him, maybe it's because Sinclair tried to deny his dark sides and his attraction to him as well. The book was heavily influenced by a swiss philosopher and psychiatrist Carl Jung. Jung was influenced by a german philosopher Nietzche. There was a german sentence on the wall that Jin was looking at, if we translate it, it says "One must have chaos in oneself in order to give birth to a dancing star". I personally interpret it as to be able to reach one's full potential he needs to embrace both of his good and dark sides. He needs to pursue his own calling to reach higher state of enlightenment. Hesse was a patient of Josef Lang, a psychiatrist who was also Jung's disciple. Hesse was treated for depression and finally learned a lot about Jung's psychoanalysis. That was why Demian was heavily influenced by it. What makes it even more interesting, BTS album MOTS 7 is also based on Carl Jung's theory (hence the songs Persona, Shadow, and Ego were born-- these 3 elements are important in Jung's theory Maps of the Soul). Check these 3 songs out as well. BTS are deep, my friends. They literally make a lot of armys become smarter and read on classic literature like this because of them. lol. Please note once again that this is all my own interpretation after reading the book, take it with a grain of salt. Welcome to the BTS (mindblowing) Universe!

Loved your reaction to Blood, Sweat and Tears, it's geared for the temptations that young people face.” RM explained, "The harder a temptation is to resist, the more you think about it. Blood Sweat & Tears is a song that shows how one thinks, chooses, and grows. It tells a story about losing your innocents. It starts out with Jin staring at the famous painting of, "The Fall of the Rebel Angels," (it was painted in 1562). It shows us a battle between good and bad angels. Throughout the MV it shows Jins journey to try not to lose his innocence, but in the end, he gives in to temptation by kissing the dark angel, and once he does, everything turns to chaos, his innocence is lost, Jins face cracks showing he isn't pure anymore, and once you lose your innocence, you can never go back. It's an amazing MV. 💜💜

Love your reactions, this one should be right in your wheel house. This came out in 2016. The painting in the beginning is The Fall of the Rebel Angels by Pieter Breugel the Elder. The use of the word more that sounds like money is intentional. The temptation of fame. The story of Daemian is about going from childhood into adulthood and that you have to lose a part of your innocence in order to become an adult. In the book the "main" evil is Abraxas who is shown as the statue with the black wings. V is representative of a fallen angel and he does try to stop Jin from going to Abraxas. And then the cracking of his self. Have to crack to become enlightened and move into adulthood. Yes, its the Pieta and they have statues of David and Goliath. Even JK on the swing has pictures in the back of Icarus and is about the story of Icarus. Th organ song is by Buxtehude. This mv is so well thought out and has a plethora of symbolism. And the dancing. 😂 I have always loved that BTS loves to make you think. 😘🫰🏻🫶🏻💜💜💜💜

Overall, this is about temptation and the loss of innocence. It’s loosely based on the short story ‘Demian’ by Herman Hesse. Glad you’re enjoying BTS so far, they carry a great message and are truly humble and talented people.✌️💜

The narrative revolves around the irresistible allure of worldly desires and the pain and hardships one endures in pursuit of those desires. The members of BTS convey their complex emotions and battles within themselves, depicting a struggle between good and evil, love and desire. Also the symbolism is meaningful. 1. J-Hope is sitting in front of 'Pietà' by Michelangelo, or more of an altered version of it. 2. The painting above is called 'The Fall of the Rebel Angels' by Peter Bruegel the Elder (he is going to be mentioned again later). This is the painting Jin looks at at the beginning of the MV (Those are in reference to Revelation 12:1-9 The archangel Michael and his angels are shown driving the rebel angels from Heaven, and battling demons, half-human and half-animal monsters.) 3. The painting with V (Taehyung sitting on the balcony) is Landscape with the Fall of Icarus So this song is about the struggle to defeat the temptations of the world and through your blood, sweat and tears make it to be successful. That the wide and short path may get you success it will be temporary and it will ultimately lead to your destruction while the long and narrow Path (hard work and struggle), will lead you to a life time of happiness and success. Also did you see him hold the apple? The temptation! Taehyung at the end is a fallen angel and his smirk means evil won.

This one of the best videos, I have ever seen. It takes us into a museum where the statues are light & dark. We see Jin almost hypnotized, staring at a painting called, The Fall of the Rebel Angels'. This painting is placed between a white door and a black door. Temptation! Decisions, decisions! They wrote this song back when they were starting to rise to the top and temptations (the Dark Angel) were being put in front of them. Do you take a bite, get seduced? There is an explanation video and its well worth the watch.

The Fall of the Rebel Angels (1554). The contract of light and darkness. Herman Hesse's 1919 novel "Demian," wherein the protagonist is an adolescent who discovers his evil side. This video is from 2016. Oops - just saw BetterGreta13's comment below - after I wrote the above. I'm a 70-year-old Texas BTS fan. As you continue through their catalog, you will see additional allegorical lyrics.

1) The painting in the opening scene: “The Fall of The Rebel Angels” 2) This was from 2016. BTS debut in 2013. Today is 2024. 3) They did not say money money money, but many of us who do not speak Korean search for the song by Google-ing "BTS" and "Money Money Money" 😂 This is by far the most interesting BTS reaction video I have seen . Thank you! I have to tell my pastor friend about you guys.

This is maybe my favorite MV. BTS is huge on storytelling in their videos. There is so much here, I can't get into it all. But this song is about temptation. Actually opening scene, in the back, neon sign says temptation. You can pick out all kinds religious good versus evil imagery in there. The one thing they also do is make it ALL about art. They are in a museum. Notice all seven art forms are represented from painting, sculpture, architecture, music, etc. Then styles of painting in every shot realism, abstract, impressionism, pop art, etc. I love everything about this video and how much thought went into it. As someone else mentioned the quote is from the book Damien.

There are some really great videos on KZfaq that deep dive into every aspect of this music video as there is a lot of art, literature and bible references. Every piece of art, sculpture, architecture, color and quote is carefully curated for this video. There is a lot of imagery on temptation and the seven deadly sins. This is one of my favorite music videos by them.

3:49 this was released in 2016, dna & fake love were both in 2018 and dynamite in 2020. This song is about temptation of all types, 1 of the cute examples they gave while discussing it's meaning was : staying up late playing video games when they have work the next day lol. But they just mean any temptations, could be a person who they know is toxic, food while on a diet etc etc. Oh the painting Jin is looking at is called fall of the rebel angels. I'd love for you to watch a guide to get to know them. Youll appreciate their humbleness, kindness, generous spirits, & genuine appreciation for/connection with, their ARMY. The best guide is long but i promise we will be there for it if you do it. Its called "an introduction to BTS members: the bangtan 7" by taylor Mari. Fan made but suuuper well done. Thank you for another reaction 💜 Eta:: the man who does most of their mv's is called lumpens. Hes been with them from the beginning. The quote RM said during the pause is from the book Damien and says "He too, was a tempter. He too, was a link to the 2nd, [meaning the 2nd world] The evil world with which i no longer wanted to have anything to do" Member V was the fallen angel tempting the boys throughout woth Jin being the holdout until V gets him to kiss the statue, which now sports V's angel wings. Then Jin's face cracks like the statues 😊 Its actually supposed to be his house theyre all in, not a museum. (If you look, hes wearing casual clothes and a robe, the rest are dressed up normally) when he jumps off the balcony earlier he isnt trying to exit the world or anything, he can fly. 💜

This video requires many reviews on your own. Several more times without the subtitles, and a few more with. Also investigate the lyrics. It's important to understand what the paintings, statues, the arrow, the drop on Jimin's finger, his blindfold, etc. represent....so many symbols and themes. You always see something new each time you watch it. Good and evil, black and white, societal expectations, temptation, self reflection, etc. based on Hermann Hesse's book, "Damian." ..this may have been mentioned. The dance steps also play a part in the narrative. (I think RM made the other guys read it 😊) Having said that, BTS always want us to create our own interpretations. Thesis papers have been written about this video. I have watched it 20 times! 😅 RM, the only one at the time who spoke fluent English, wrote most of it..he is highly intellectual. He reads everything he can get his hands on. He speaks Korean, English, Japanese and a little bit of French. They all participate in writing and producing their music.(I'm bragging!) Today the other members speak English quite well. BTS never did fit the typical "boy band" image, as much as America believed. 😅 The president of South Korea awarded them the medal of Cultural Merit, RM gave a speech at the United Nations, and President Biden invited them to the White House. They are a remarkable group of young men who began as teenagers, and have stayed together for 10/11 years. You will hear some of their 'lighter' songs in the grocery store, they are very versatile. At the present time they are all serving in the military, as South Korea has a mandatory enlistment period of 18-20 months. Jin, the eldest, enlisted in Dec 2022, they plan to reunite in 2025. Individually they prepared songs, videos, short documentaries, etc. to be released at various times over the next year and a half. Amazing! 💜 And, the purple heart 💜 represents BTS' and Army's love for each other. Taeyung (V) began the idea at a concert a number of years ago. I could go on.. Some of this may already be in other comments. Thank you for your reaction. Canada

I would like to recommend *Life Goes On* if you haven't heard it already. It was written during and about the pandemic. Just like the rest of us they were kind of stuck at home and so yes, that is their actual dorm, garden, bedrooms etc. in the video. The entire BE album is about their thoughts, feelings and realisations at the time. Because they're used to being super busy they were really bored and needed a project so they essentially did everything themselves for this album, be it cover design, photo concepts, styling, etc. For example the youngest, Jungkook (the first guy you'll see in the MV), was the one who directed the MV. Life Goes On was at the height of the pandemic when no vaccine even existed yet. Later they came out with *Permission To Dance* which symbolises the end of the pandemic and is a fun, light and hopeful song in english that has sign language as part of the choreography. They even performed it in the UN building in New York when they were there to give their third speech before the UNGA. They truly are amazing artists and human beings. Loving your BTS reactions so far. - a danish ARMY, age 48 💜

Don't too many of use believe we can change someone for thr better, so we keep hanging on in there, but actually the other person is the only one who can change themselves, and probably wont if you are still hanging around. Concerning translations, sometimes their words sound familiar to us, but it is just coincidental. We hera "money" bur the trsnslation says more. In other songs some people hear "nigger" but that is the sound of a Korean word meaning something like me or I. There is another song where Suga is singing and I am certain he says "sandwich" a few times but not in the translation. Have you watched their song On Kinetic Manifesto yet?

The person in comnt erume5776 explained it very well also they do have explain video for their music because they are very deep. they are not superficial. and they have many interpretations. this one has Biblical references. Jin kiss the statue in accepting good with evil. and v i the fallen angel the one with he scar on his back. read the comments below and then watch the explained version and you will understand it better. take your time. these guys songs is meant to help everyone whether you think you need it or not. the English song are feel-good songs these are songs to help people in whatever situation they face at the point they hear it.
