This was the first rap I ever wrote. I wrote it in 5 mins. me and my dawg Pastor Troy was in ATL at Patchwerk with super producer Carl Mo. I heard the beat for the first time, Troy had done laid his verse already. When it was my time to go into the booth I really didn't wanna fuck my nigga song up. When I put the headphones on my ears and heard my voice on the mic, I let loose all my pain and shit I had been going through in 8 bars and to be honest when I came out the booth I told them to take it off and Carl Mo said, if you take that verse off I want my beat back shit I laughed and said fuck it bra we gone ride with it, thanks for the luv. A week later it was on the radio V103, 6:00 o'clock it's time for Greg Street to rock! I was riding down 285 in a big ass suburban smoking on a fat ass blunt and all I could say was thank you Jesus it was the first time I ever heard myself on the radio. The lesson of the day is believe in yourself because through God anything is possible! DSGB

Does anyone else think he is one of the most underrated artists of all time? I always make playlists with all my favorite songs from each artists. pastor troy is one of those artists that makes it difficult to pick your favorite songs.

Growing up with older rap like Naghty by nature, NWA, De La Soul, 2Live Crew and so on a gap then Eminem and so on I missed a lot of excellent rappers. Pastor is definitely one I've started buying after hearing a good few tracks. Time I caught up. Any suggestions guys????
@salahad-din41145 жыл бұрын
Banned in the USA is definitely worth a mention. 2live crew, naughty by nature, NWA, 2pac, biggy and many more were more my time. Anyone any pointers on other great lyricists I should be catching up on. Pastor is definitely one on my play list now.

When I was a young Georgia boy going through those crazy 20s and feeling lost and misunderstood, I remember my dad came into my room and sat down while I had this flowing through the speakers. He didn't say a word. Just sat there and listened. Really listened. He had a stoic expression on the face. When the song ended he stood up, pulled me into him, held me tight and a connection was made. Everything changed after that day.

Now that i know who I am and still learning who I am in Yah (God) I despise this song. It's disrespectful to the Most High and yet I've been where Pastor Troy was. Looking at the World confused about why he allows death and suffering. We choose evil and innocents suffer due to our sin. We're not Niggas we're are the Chosen of the Most High and until we humble ourselves and repent our condition won't change. It doesn't matter who you vote for, how much money you have, how many guns you have or how much knowledge you have we need the Most High to put us back on top as a whole. Shalom fam.
@MentalStillness4 жыл бұрын
This song is biblical in the sense that what's evil is twisted to look like it's good. Everything is backwards. The fake Jews are on top the Real Jews are on the bottom. Vice Versa for real. Shalom.

@Slumerican Mystik you obviously didn't get where he was coming from. That shit (for me at least) is about spiritual and mental confusion. Wrong and right. Why are some things considered wrong and why are others considered right. That shit is about that battle within ones self. But on another note you may not be going through any of these situations. So you are could be right or wrong....visa versa.

Eagleflyy Dre the song is based on how we perceive morality or good and evil. If you’re religious he’s pretty much asking is that if a god commands something is it automatically good. If so then he goes on to create a hypothetical world in which a god commanded the exact opposite of what we see as good. It actually based on the euthyphro dilemma which ask wether something is good because god favors it or does god favor something because it’s good.
@fall_asleep3 жыл бұрын
Hypothetically speaking, the devil could very well be disguised as 'god', and that would bring you back to the question this song proposed in the very beginning.

Anyone who's genuinely sought the Lord will be tested, tried, & persecuted to the point that you consider Satan's lies wondering if God is truly for you, b/c before you pursued him life was normal, but the minute you became serious about your Creator & savior - all Hell breaks loose in your life... That's not a coincidence. When I asked God to show me who He really is so that I could know him intimately; when I wanted to truly know Him for myself - not who a pastor says He is, not who granny said He is, but KNOW for myself- that's when Satan showed up and threw everything he had at me to convince me God wasn't real... Funny thing is, he confirmed for me just how real God had to be; once I knew Satan was real, then I knew God had to be real too... He wasn't working overtime to keep me from pursuing God for nothing. I didn't see it then, but in hindsight, I see now just how much God kept my mind and preserved my life when the enemy tried to take me out multiple times. Most saints don't know how to tap into our authority to take back dominion of this world from Satan's kingdom, so we operate behind enemy lines. Keep seeking God and don't miss it when He starts speaking back... Open your spiritual ears to hear only from your Creator and not the voice of a stranger. Open your spiritual eyes to see God is good.
