Yea we know that now in hindsight. But look at this from BB viewpoint. He had still fresh in mind what happened with manning just a few years prior. He was still really good and then hit a wall and became a turnover machine. So it is understandable that BB thought hey I know he is still good now, but what about in 1 or 2 years ?? If you won like this for 17 years you think differently. You do not want to risk winning one more year and then become a joke, you want to find a future, and you are ready to give another team the goat which you think will only be good for an other year 2 years tops, and get top draft picks for it.

There are lots of great coaches in the NFL who aren’t winning Super Bowls all the time, because coaching only takes you so far. Andy Reid didn’t suddenly get a whole lot better at coaching the last couple of years. You need a guy out there on the field who can inspire the team and do what needs to be done to win the game. As Belichick himself said, “players win games and coaches lose them.” The best that a coach can do is prepare his guys and put them in position to go out there on the field and win the game.

Regardless of the Super Bowl, I think Cook’s absence was felt more the next season. With Cooks and Amendola gone, Brady’s receivers were Edelman, Dorsett, Hogan, Patterson and Slater. Dorsett and Hogan were cast-offs due to their lack of production, while Patterson and Slater were special teams players. That’s pathetic. Also, keep in mind that Belichick tried to trade Gronk to the Lions. It’s almost like he was intentionally sabotaging the offense out of spite.

@@MrJimShorts Yeah I don't wholly believe the narrative that Bill forced Tom out, but he's made some really questionable moves over the years. The fact that he got rid of Brandin Cooks after Tom won an MVP with him on the team is bizarre to me. He did the same thing with Randy Moss. Plus to find out that Bill's plan was for Brandin Cooks and Jimmy G to be his new dynamic duo seems oddly suspicious when we see how that played out. Add that to him benching Malcom Butler for no reason. To me it seems like Bill was either purposely sabotaging the team to make Tom look bad or he was just not that smart as a GM. I mean where the hell was all that money going in New England? It's not like Tom was eating the salary cap there. They haven't had a Pro Bowler on the offense in years and most of their drafts have been major busts. I imagine it probably was more mutual and respectable than the media portrays it, but Bill should have swallowed his pride and gave Tom what he wanted.

@@CrimsonUltrafox Bill Belichick the coach is not to be questioned. Belichick the GM, yeah I think you can. When it comes to drafting, I don't doubt him on DEFENSE. Offensively, that is a totally different story. Also I think Brady got tired of dealing with Belichick's attitude. Amendola and Gronk can attest to that. It would make sense now as to why Belichick traded Cooks after only 1 season. I thought it was just money reasons but if Garopollo was gone, I guess we see the REAL reason why Cooks was gone as well.

Bill Belichick was able to run the team the way he did because they were winning and had Tom Brady to validate his coaching style. Now that Brady is gone and seeing success elsewhere, Belichick will be hard pressed to find players to buy into his style as there is no one player the others can look to as an example of why it works. IMO Belichick may be in New England 1-2 more years then he’s gone. The league is getting younger with coaches. Innovators. Old guard being pushed out.

Mahomes defined by offensive genius Reid along with the fastest receiver (Hill) and TE (Kelce) in the league. Big time multi-year system QB (imagine Mahomes playing in NE like Newton did with their laughable roster...thx Bill!). Yet despite this Brady took Lacosse and Izzo (look them up lol) to Divisional championship and/or deep into the playoffs. Mahomes could not do that no matter how many left hand passes he puts on tiktok. Again, talented, but definitely a function of his receivers. He can extend plays with his legs. Brady on the other hand IS the system and succeeded under a DEFENSIVE coach and threw touchdowns to nearly 100 DIFFERENT receivers. He’s a pure pocket QB and so by that pure metric of establishing the play from the pocket he doesn’t “need” to extend plays (imagine the number of more TDs he’s have if he couldn’t read defenses and took off like Mahomes does all the time). Additionally, Mahomes will enjoy these numbers hereforth assuming Hill can still run sub 4.3 and Kelce remains the best TE in the entire league by far. And of course, let’s NOT forget, there’s nothing like entering the league in the concussion-protocol QB red-shirt era NFL where QBs can’t be touched. Brady had to wait 15 years until he enjoyed such privilege...Patty walked right into it hence his numbers...and for ALL QBs: For example today Joe Montana would be 33rd in completion percentage and 25th in passer rating (source: thesportsrush dot com). Context is important gents. Brady is the better and the best QB ever in any time and in any context (outside a ‘scrambling QB’; in which case he has to be the worst all time-Patty go on and take that crown from Rodgers). Periodt.
