The nickname was given to him by teammates because he had an interest in the arts, literature and music that didn't involve Phil Collins. A slight figure who jinked and twisted his way into fans' affections.

Used to watch him at St Jude’s primary school in Barlanark doing the crossbar challenge back in the early 80’s and my family lived next door to his all those years ago

How can we have forgotten the genius of this guy. Nearest I ever saw to Jimmy Johnstone.

Yes. Still revered as much as any of the legends we've had by those who saw him back in the John Neal years. Shame there's so little footage of those seasons.

@@jasondavis4813 Got to be grateful to Ken Bates for ignoring all the fans who wanted him sacked after we nearly went down the season before. He could see that it was (some of) the players who were the problem, not the manager

Used to be one of my all time favourite 3 Chelsea players in my years supporting the club. Hazard and Drogba’s inclusion makes it a top 5 nowadays, but there’ll always be a place for wee Pat. John Neal has been largely forgotten by subsequent generations of blues, I will always consider him the man who did as much as anybody to save the club during the utter shite years.

Yes definitely the Scottish Maradona.I think when he was at Everton,PSG try to buy him.He could be the star playmaker in 86(under ferguson),90,96 WC if fergie & roxburgh select him.

Explanation is in the description. It's not how I would necessarily describe him; more a nod to his intellect and curiosity.

Ye a weirdo cus for a Scottish footballer he was artistic. None of this boot or be booted. Could have played for Brazil. Scotland only got to euro 96 cus of Nevin and they didn't even pick him for the squad. Scotland won the euros u19 - Nevin got player of the tournament. Flew back the same night to sit an exam. In scotland that's definitely a weirdo. Also likes the cocteau twins lol
