Hello ! Your video helps me with my 2392 exam. I was one of the best in my group. I don't glorify myself but I want to reward your gift for us. Thank you ! I do preparation for PAT and 2391-52 now.

Thanks. Huge help. Are your other electric videos for C&G 2377-22? I've got 4 days, very little time and barely any electrical knowledge.

I assume the test won't show if the cable sheath is broken but the main 3 cables are still fine? Only if a PAT tester saw that would it get a fail? If they didn't see it and the test came back good it would pass?
@BigBoyzToyz19747 жыл бұрын
it wouldnt pass it would fail when you pick up the sheath broken on the visual test..just replace the cable then it pass.

No money in PAT anymore. I’ve been on the game for 37 years and I will advise new people to look else where. The big firms dominate this sector now

P I. R Triangle thats how you calculate the fuse 1500 watts / 230 volts =current
@BigBoyzToyz19744 жыл бұрын
Edmond Uku yes but with pat testing it’s only 3amp for upto 750w and 13amp for everything over unless it’s a sealed plug with a stated rating like extension leads with 10amp fuses
@gmailalan7 жыл бұрын
There seems to be a contradiction. At 9:23, the diagram indicates that with a power rating of >700W then 13A fuse is fine. But, at 5:57 informs us that with a power rating of between 700 and 1000 watts, a 5A fuse should be fitted. This would imply a that having a 13A fuse does not protect the wiring at this range. So which is true?
@vhsable7 жыл бұрын
I=P/V so 1000watts divided by 230watts is 4.34 amps even if you times it by 1.5% it would still be less than 5 amps fuse right? based on your assumption the 13 amp fuse would be P=VxI so 230 x 13 = 3kw Or have i been out of physics to long
@BigBoyzToyz19747 жыл бұрын
vhsable there is a new reg that only allows 3amp and 13amp fuses to be used so if something was above 700w a 13amp would be used the cable on the appliance would handle 13amp so no danger of fire..or internal fuse would protect the appliance.

I have learned something new today, Thank you Dean. I need to look in that BS7671 thing now to quench my thirst for knowledge. Thumbs up
Dean Snookes Thank you for the video and link, they're very useful. There are some great articles on the site and I particularly like the mock test.

Eastern European’s messed up all the pricing for self employed workers for PAT testing. If you find a good customer for this your lucky, everyone’s under cutting everyone it’s very cut throat and the customers will just look around till they find Joe Bloggs to do it for next to nothing. It’s a mugs game now
@BigBoyzToyz19744 жыл бұрын
It is most get internal personnel to do it.. I'm a fully qualified electrician lv/hv and because Ive got my pat testing cert I get jobs to pat test..Funny thing is they sent all our plumbers on the course and everyone of them failed..

Could you please tell me why a 10 amp plug top fuse is never mentioned here which are available and would be more safer for a 2000w appliance than a 3000w appliance. Why do manufactures fit 13 fuses in 2000w appliances when 10 amp will do. Is this then not a fire risk in the waiting.
@BigBoyzToyz19743 жыл бұрын
New regulations only allows 3A (upto 750w) and 13A anything over. I say new it’s been like that for about 7 yrs now 👍
@Dave-so4je3 жыл бұрын
@@BigBoyzToyz1974 Yes but its still wrong, putting a 13 amp fuse for a 2000w appliance which will only take about just over 8 amp cannot be right.
@BigBoyzToyz19743 жыл бұрын
It is bud, the fuse only protects the cable not the appliance. For an appliance rated as 700W or less, a 3A fuse should be fitted. For appliances above 700W, a 13A fuse should be fitted. One complication of using the 700W rule is that some appliances can draw a higher current when they are first switched on (inrush current). This link might shine more light on the subject. www.pat-testing-training.net/articles/fuse-ratings.php

There is no legal requirement for PAT testing
@BigBoyzToyz19748 жыл бұрын
+Mick Spencer that is correct but if an appliance set fire insurance more likely to pay out with a competent 2377 qualified pat tested...even if joe bloggs out of accounts tested it you wouldnt be covered.
@BigBoyzToyz19748 жыл бұрын
+Mick Spencer also not being compliant with EAWR 1989 you can be fined 5000 pounds or 6 months prison sentence.

@MrAbletospeak The most advanced video camera I've ever used had an IEC socket, but it was just a constant charge to/through the battery.
@liveshotsvideoproductions5 жыл бұрын
Microphones aren't mains powered. Condenser mics get fed a 48v DC charge ('phantom power) from the pre-amp. That's usually the 240 AC device to check

Pat testing is not is not a legal requirement, it never has been . Stop talking bollocks to try and sell your course. I have been a qualified electrician for over thirty years and I know for a fact that there is no legal requirement or IET regulations requirement for pat testing. But yes I agree with you it is an important and valuable skill to have .
@BigBoyzToyz1974 Жыл бұрын
I've been an electrician for 10 yrs and it is a requirement in a public building such as hospitals schools or any commercial building. Its also a requirement of any insurance policy so good luck trying to claim.for a multi million pound building burning to the ground without an asset book proving your items were pat tested by a qualified person. Maybe you should redo your qualifications or at least get HTM 06-02 qualified before you make such a bold statement 🙄
