Patagonia Micro Puff vs Patagonia DAS Light vs Outdoor Research Super Strand LT
Each of these synthetic puffy jackets comes in ~12oz for size XL. They all compact up nicely and stuff into a hand pocket.
We have detailed reviews and videos on each of these. Either of these is going to be a fantastic pffy jacket. But there are a few differences that I hope you appreciate in this video.

I ended up picking up a DAS light recently due in part to your reviews, even just testing out the fit I started to overheat (indoors), I can tell this is going to work well for me in a bunch of winter applications.

Thanks for the reviews. Was umming over the das light and you helped encapsulate the pros...also I agree if it had drop pockets it would be near perfect, and maybe adjustable hem too

I have the super strand and it quickly became my favorite jacket being as comfy and warm as my puffys

Between the Micro Puff and the DAS Light, in your opinion what would be the best for bringing along as your 1 puffy in your backcountry pack?

Not just saying this but you have the best jacket reviews, fantastic comparisons, including things to look out for, consistent and simply great! I’m still on the hunt for a versatile mid/ outer, with this winter and covid restrictions there’s been no rush, downside is not able to try things on, so again really appreciating your content! I actually found a stretch nano storm which you’ve had lots of great things to say about, and it’s top of the running since I run hot having the breathability and zips on it, I’m a bit bigger than you 6’3” 220 lbs 38” in pant sizes which is frustrating since it’s not accurate when measured with tape. I think XL will still work since I’m XL in most tops I just worry about length, some styles have longer cuts which I appreciate. Does anything stand you for you for a longer fit in any of your pieces? I’ve also heard Fjallraven can be longer you had a nice Greenland wind jacket, I’m looking at their Keb insulated options but no drop pockets :/ Hope your doing well, all the best!

Thank you very much for the kind words! I really appreciate the positive feedback :) I think the Patagonia Stretch Nano Storm nails it for all that you want - pit zips, longer length, versatility. I think XL could work for you as well. I hope it does, as it is such a great jacket! Not as packable as it also has the legit waterproof breathable membrane and fully featured hood and pockets. But still packable enough to go into a backpack. Honestly, that seems like the best choice, given what I have tested. I am working with Triple Fat Goose this week for a more traditional down parka - urban, heavy, not packable, but super warm (11+ oz of down!) So that "might" be of interest to you. Though I would still recommend trying the Stretch Nano. Let us know what you go with! It will help others. Take care!

Awesome! I can get the das light or macropuff a little cheaper but so much extra packed into the nano stretch storm, I’ll update if that’s what I go with!

@@Engearment Basically a stuffable jacket I can throw in my backpack for everyday carry or travel. That packs fairly small. I want to get my travel bag down to 25 liters.

If anything else y’all comes to mind I’ll try to follow this thread - my interests don’t require too much packability, but versatile for a mid in cold or outer in cool, back adjustable hood, good length in the sleeves, drop pockets :) Bonus for face coverage in the full zip and pit zips I don’t think anything but the stretch nano storm checks all these boxes but is it long enough :/

@@Engearment I landed on the REI Co-op 650 Down Jacket 2.0 - Men's in Tall. I also found tall sizes at eddie bauer and their outlet as well.

I am undecided about getting the Patagonia Mico Puff Hoody or the OR SuperStrand LT. I have read reviews saying that the SuperStrand is "coming apart, that the insulation comes out like spiderwebs" and that "the fabric gets holes easily." However, the price differences between the two OR and Patagonia is huge now. The OR is on sale at $228 CAD while the Patagonia is $409 CAD. Have you had the same experience of the insulation coming out of the OR jacket? Is the Micro puff warmer than the SuperStrand. Thanks!

Hey! Great questions. First, I have not had the issue with the insulation coming out of the SS,. Though I am sure it can happen. But after a few seasons of use both are still going strong. I would get whichever fits you better. They are both really great. The price of the SS (and pretty much all OR gear) is very very fair. Both are equally warm as well. Either one will treat you well. Let us know what you wind up going with and how you like it!

@Engearment Thanks for taking the time to reply. I went to a store and tried the OR SuperStrand on, I did see that several of them had insulation coming out and even realized that in one of the jackets, the OR logo was printed on top of a string of insulation that had come out, I got the impression the quality was not great because of that. So, I decided to go to the Patagonia store here in my city and bought the Micro Puff hoody jacket. It is much more expensive, so I kind of suffered because I am trying to be a frugal person, but I am also a perfectionist, so I need things to totally satisfy me. I liked the service at Patagonia and the fact they will repair or replace the jacket in any Patagonia location worldwide. I hope it's worth the investment! Thanks :)
