@amphibiancircuits8884 so the movement in sea of thieves is very air strafing focused, and when you're using the sniper or blunderbuss, it becomes alot more difficult to move smoothly, but because the pistol has the fastest reload and the ability to fire accurately from the hip, it makes it alot easier to out maneuver opponents.

The best way to reload cancel in my opinion is right after you shoot, double tap your drop/stow key whatever it is. I have mine bound to the scroll wheel so all I have to do is shoot and scroll down twice.

Some of these tips actually help defend against double gunners too. A lot of the movement points i make are common things players do. One of the scariest things you can do against a double gunners is to have good movement to close the distance with a sword. Also mix in shots with your other weapon.

A lot of info that even sword users can benefit from, movement, animation canceling, black screens, etc.

Try to slow down a little. Then speed up your animation cancel till you find that sweet spot. If you do it too fast your gun may not shoot. Usually beginners don’t have that problem but it’s a good problem to have!

Sword blunder can definitely be good on boat. I truly don’t understand sword pistol users. In my opinion the pistol is inferior to the sniper as the pistol only does 50% damage, the range is far less, the projectile speed is slower which requires you to lead shots that are farther, and hitreg for the pistol is worse than the sniper. With the sniper you do 70% damage and it can do everything the pistol can do but better. The only downfall I see is the slightly longer reload time.

@@liger0000 maybe stuff like what to look out for in general, like lunges getting cancelled if you're getting hit (can't remember if this only applies to pve but should to pvp too, iirc), lunges having no recovery time if you connected with an enemy (which also is useful if there are mobs around and you're fighting at a fort or something), beeing able to look, move and jump around if you charge a lunge and block beforehand, how to hopefully outplay proper double gunners or other blocking sword users by simply jumping over their model, best positioning on what deck during a fight against a double gunner depending on your being a defender or attacker and how to force a better positioning for yourself (again, depending on if you're attacking their or defending your ship). Probably not as technical as double gunning but I've recently joined a SoT discord and many people there wouldn't even know how to properly sword lunge in the first place and with your more indepth explainations, given theres information, this could prove very useful. Edit: oh and also maybe the very situational "dolphin dive" where you sword lunge of a high place into water and try to land on the other ship or grab their ladders (worked best on sloops for me, due to height, but still low success rate)

Basically the animation cancel just helps you do things faster. You definitely don’t have to learn them but there are other players that do use it so be aware of that.

@@diamsword6273I know I’m replying to this late but if you watch blurbs he likely does animation cancel. Watch for when he shoots his gun you will see him immediately animation cancel to swap to sword to get in a sword hop faster either to close distance or to side hop and dodge a shot.

You can 100% do this on Xbox, I don’t know the controls but the actions are still the same. AIM>SHOOT>SWAP>SPRINT>AIM>SHOOT

I use a Glorious Model O, it has multiple notches so I can feel how many times I have scrolled down. If you don’t feel good using scroll wheel then maybe try a few different buttons out.

Hmm that could be a possible video, to do a ladder shot you have to while on ladders aim the center of your screen at the player, let go, aim and shoot, then catch again. On galleon it is way easier so I recommend practicing on there. Also use blunder because you don’t have to be as accurate.

Great question and good eye, there is an ads bug where when you stop sprinting you cannot aim down sights right away. This only happens sometimes but basically me clicking my aim key is just to “test” that I am not going to get the bug. I hope this makes sense I know it’s hard to explain without an example.

So to shoot the sniper you do not have to aim all the way in to fire. It’s just a quick scope is all.

Its like a hip fire with pistols.. I saw this kind of quick scope/ hip fire stuff a lot of times but I still dont know how to do that.. I can double gun.. Quick swap etc but your animation cancel with the sniper seems to be faster because you dont even raise the rifle to your eyes to see through the scope ( for just a mil sec).. Its just like a hip fire but still a straight aimed shoot in the center

If I do the fastest possible way I can, with the sprint aim etc combo.. I still aim through the scope for just a few mil sec.. I believe its not possible with the basic animation cancel combination to shoot without aiming through your scope ( even if its just like a mil sec)

Okey i saw a video explaining this.. I dont know if its scam or not but if you press S.. After u sprint forward a bit u can cancel the scoping stuff and just instantly hip fire with sniper

@@PeterWillD so I believe you’re talking about me shooting the sniper before the gun scopes in all the way. (This is called black scoping) The way to do this is generally I sprint first, aim and when you aim as soon as you see the peripheral around the entire screen start to zoom in that is the point you can shoot and it will hit center screen. The scoping in of the gun is just an animation. You do not need to wait for it to scope all the way in especially in close quarters fights. I also immediately swap after shooting the sniper so that you don’t see the recoil as I will already have my blunder out. I hope this helps.

No vitriol from me. It’s a very valid opinion, my perspective on something like this is if I notice someone does something in any game that is hard to do or hard to combat I always want to immediately learn it to add to my skill set.

@@liger0000 problem is that it’s not hard to do. It’s a very simple animation cancel that completely wrecks the balance of pirate to pirate combat. RARE has attempted to patch animation canceling before, but we all know they’re not exactly the best developers when it comes to FPS combat. I choose not to do it and hope someday RARE will realize how bad for the game this is and stop trying to just appeal to their streamers To respond to OP, my strategy when I encounter double gunners is to begin eating as soon as I know they’re gonna take a shot on me. If you time it right you can get the heal at the exact moment you take the first hit and shutdown this ridiculousness. You can just cancel and repeat eating until you take that first hit. Obviously this is incredibly difficult to time and even rarer to actually pull off but other than double gun/animation canceling yourself it’s about the only way to survive that nearly instant burst.

As Chris stated earlier, pre-eating in combat when you have reason to believe you're going to take damage is a very important strategy to learn, no matter what play style you use. As far as double gunning goes, I personally believe animation cancelling should stay in the game for a multitude of different reasons. The main balance I do wish rare would add is reducing each pellet to nine damage instead of ten in the blunderbuss. A one shot weapon that has knock back and can one shot people from a good distance away is just a little too overpowered in my opinion. I say this as I mainly use blunder/sniper. There are many strategies with the sword to outperform double gunners as well, you just have to be proficient with it. Overall, the weapons counteract each other and you can beat anybody, no matter the combo, as long as you're proficient with it, although I do wish there would be some minor tweaks to them.

I would consider 400 low but it really isn’t too bad if you have a huge mousepad space. In general you want to be able to turn a full 360 in game swiping from the far left of your mouse pad to the right.

That would be called an ADS bug my friend, that’s the whole point of the default skin theory. You can duplicate the same bug by switching and ADS’ing very fast.

You can also double gun on controller because all the methods are the same just with different controls. I just focus on pc because it’s all I know. If you have any questions about it I can try and help you out.

@@liger0000 I appreciate it but its nowhere near as easy if you had more options with changing key settings or you could flip the the trigger buttons it would help with accuracy... PC and xbox are actually worlds apart so fighting someone on pc is like fighting players with hacks almost.. Appreciate the offer though.
