Today I went out and filmed a rare cosmic event, the solar eclipse! The ring of fire happened today. I met somebody at the park who showed me where to get my own glasses before capturing the event!

There is a window JUST in the right spot for the eclipse, I didn't have glasses so i couldn't see it until the PERFECT consistency cloud passed over. and BTW it was my birthday.

i really wanna thank you for putting the glasses to the camera honestly. the solar eclipse i had the chance to see was when i was back in 2nd grade or so but my teacher was the only teacher in the whole school that kept us in the room to not see it. i didn’t even know there was a solar eclipse that day but again thank you for letting me and maybe others see it for the first time.

This is so cool to witness. I had the amazing opportunity to travel to some ranch somewhere in the middle of Oregon to view the eclipse where it would be a full eclipse. It was absolutely beautiful. There were rainbows shimmers all along the outside of the sun, which looks like just a black disc. There’s some guy from NASA there who brought fancy telescopes and stuff. I’m forgetting his name right now, but he was one of the people responsible for landing the mars rover. It’s something that I’m never going to forget.

I find it fascinating how you can see the eclipse on the shadow from the trees on the ground, where I live it wasn't totality and the shadows of the trees also looked this way.

I love that you pointed out the shadows. I find it neat that the animals also change. If you listen like 10 min before the birds will quiet and the bugs start their nighttime chirping. It’s amazing. Then they stop as soon as it’s over and the birds return and the bugs quiet. Nature is absolutely neat.

@@zodiac9053 i agree. The one i saw had much more coverage. That looks like an annular eclipse from summer in southern hemisphere rather than solar eclipse in northern hemisphere. Difference is how far away earth is from sun and therefore size comparison - the sun is much bigger than moon here than it was monday.

I was able to witness totality from where I live (Indianapolis), and it was so cool! It was extremely dark, as if it had turned night in just about two minutes, and all the birds stopped flying, the frogs and crickets came out, and that was the only time it was safe to look at the sun without the glasses. It was marvelous.

Did it really get fully dark - as in the middle of the night where you need headlights or a torch to find your way? I had in my head that it got only about as dark as twilight or dusk.

I was late to the eclipse, but man, i must thank you for filming it. Its so beautiful. And this was technically my 2nd solar eclipse, since the first time i was in middle school, in 7th grade. But i had to miss it since i was sick. So again, thank you so much for filming it.

I saw the eclipse today, it was absolutely stunning and a beautiful sight to behold. I will never forget today’s eclipse, because it was the first eclipse I’ve ever seen with my own eyes. Cant wait for the total eclipse in April next year!

Oh, so this one wasn't a total I did, too, a few years ago I was wondering why I still couldn't look at this recent eclips, I keep looking up to see if peak reached and I didn't have glasses to look at it, so I would glance at it. And I thought I missed it or something Cause when I saw the total eclipse, at its peak, I was able to look at it with my bare eyes, and it looked amazing. My friends were too scared to look at it with me. They were using the glasses. That was the most beautiful thing I've seen so far I was in KCMO BTW

@@Oa515yes, and it will be a TOTAL solar eclipse, unlike the annular one that happened recently! Im not too educated on the subject, but i think that the difference is that in a total eclipse, the moon completely covers the sun while in an annular eclipse the moon is a little smaller than the sun. Total eclipses are rarer, so you dont want to miss it!

I live in Columbus Ohio, and we were nearly blacked out.. it kinda looked like you were standing outside at about 8:45pm during the summer with sunglasses on.. it was pretty cool!! All you were able to see was a faint glowing ring around the moon!! #OnceInALifetime

Bro, thank you! My class barely saw anything because of all the clouds, but we did see something. We had a partial eclipse due to not being in the path of totality sadly, we were in Minnesota.
