Namastey Doctor I had a patella fracture in 2018, its been 6 years and K wires were fixed in my kneecap. As of now, I have no much pain i get some pain when i climb stairs.So should I leave the K wires in my leg, or should I have them removed? Please suggest, doctor.

Hi sir. I have recently undergone this surgery. My patella broke in 80:20 80 up and 20 below. My doctor advised to not bend the knee for two weeks. In this video I see the patient is bending the knee on day 2. Please advise about my case

Hi , rehabilitation depends on the age , fracture type and strength of the fixation. I had a good hold of the fracture fragments,and it was broken at the near center of patella. Early mobilization increases the success rate in the fixation.

@@medi360 thank you so much for replying. My broken piece was very small. Also the wound area is extremely tight. No pain but uncomfortable. It's like crushing from inside. I m one week post surgery

Better to follow your surgeon's advice, some patients might have induration around wound , that will settle by 2 weeks.

Hi doctor my husbnd recently underwent patella tbw on 02/01/2024. Physio has been started after 5 weeks and he is got ROM 120. Yesterday we went for regular checkup and doctor noticed in xray and said thers is “mild anteroinferior displacement of lower fracture ligament “. Does it heals on it own or should be again go for surgery kindly guide us

Dr good evening After patella fracture complete fracture two pice, the cartilge under patella will damge also? If yes can it heal with patella healing ?

Good morning , yes there will be damage, but if there is proper reduction on the articular surface ,it will heal without any problem. We need to confirm it intraoperatively but palpating the undersurface of patella.

Hi , yes will be one piece after fracture union. Patient can be able to climb stairs in future after doing the muscle strengthening exercises.

I done patella TBW surgery on my left leg almost 6 month finished. Doctor said after 9month u can remove the TBW. Is necessary to remove and remove how long will take to recover pls tell me doctor

Hi , stainless steel implants are better to remove after fracture union , generally we remove it after 1- 1.5 years. Recovery differs for each person, cannot comment on it without clinical examination.

when to start knee mobilisation after tbw ?

Better to start as early possible. Only during knee mobilization the distraction forces are converted to compression force at fracture site. We generally start 30°-60° Rom by first week. And atleast 15 ° degree added every week from then.

Hi , by 6 weeks try to get the maximum knee flexion, tat will be fine.

Hello sir Mera same fracture aur surgery huye 4 months ho gaya hai knee pura band bhi ho gaya he par pain aur sujan abhi bhi he aur knee jab band hoti he tab me force nahi kar pata hu to kya ye pain sujan aur force na ho pana ye kab tak rahta he sir.

Good morning, pain and swelling 2-3 months Tak rahte, uske upar toh nahi rahna chahiye, aapka doctor ko follow up Karo , physiotherapy exercises daily barabar kaaro.. muscles strengthening chahiye.

Doctor wrote in my discharge papers is closed left patransverse fracture patella and no DNUD, heamodynamically stable I had my surgery 2 weeks ago doctors told me walk with Walker but he also told me dont bent knee iam unable walk like that could you tell me how many days will take for my recovery and what kind of food u suggest me for speedy recovery plz 🙏🙏 dr tell me and i dont eat non veg plz suggest me in veg food

Namastey, for complete union it will take 3-6 months, time duration depends on the treatment method and fracture reduction.in this type of operation we prefer to start knee mobilization within 2 weeks. Then by 1 month we start them on walking with support.

Hai sir ...good morning .IAM suffering from same injury so doctor totally removed my petella ..and they doing same tbw...but when my stitches are opened one day after small infection will occurs so what will doing now sir Please advice me iam so afraid about it. My leg

Hi , good evening , generally we don't remove any healthy bone . If there is infection then Better to remove the implant and the infective foci. Thorough debridement and antibiotics is required

Hi it depends on the type of fixation, and post operative pain tolerance. I usually start within first week with long knee brace.Better to follow your surgeon's advice and protocol.

Hi , may be the ss wire knot causing the problem or any break in the knot may be the cause. Consult with your surgeon , repeat an for proper position of the implants. If the tbw is fine , then try continuous passive motion (cpm) .
