Bio dad and legal dad is two different things. If the man leaves and another man wants the baby he can be the legal father. So he has rights to the child and cant abandon the child. If your not sure ask for a DNA test right then in the hospital.

Actually I don't think I was removed from the birth certificate, I would have to do that myself. The way I see it is this, commitment comes before marriage, and thus it can exist outside of marriage. Unless, a person is committed to be with you for the long haul, he will not marry you. The danger most people make is to think that the formality is what hold people together or it is some kind of a safety net, in reality it is the mind of the people involved that does. I would encourage anyone to look for a person who is willing to be committed, not necessarily married. It is not to say that marrying before carrying is not good, it is better than having a child in a situationship.
