Freeman was sitting on a bench among all those trees, thinking deeply about something... perhaps his Old Journeys? Friends? Black Mesa? Whatever it was, Gordon surely thought about that deeply in that moment.

I don't know what the exact point in time was, but it feels like so much time has passed. We were kids growing up playing these games, we're all grown up and jaded now, time and life have made their impact. I think even if Half-Life 3 came out, it wouldn't be enough to send us all back to recapture that feeling. When you hear the train at the end, it's almost like we all got let off in the middle of nowhere and sadly walked off the train when we realized there wasn't another destination. Abandoned and lost to time.

At the 20th anniversary he sat at a bench with nothing but his crowbar,hardly anyone remembers what he has done with eli and alyx busy he unwraps a small cake with the number 3 on it with the lambda symbol and eats it alone and sheds a single tear.he has been forgotten

gordon probably has extreme PTSD he had all his co workers die in blackmesa had the millitary hunt him down and try and kill him facing of aliens then was statised for 20 years only to come back fighting off combine forces losing eli then having to do a suicide mission to crash the borealis into the dyson sphere
