An interesting thing about Lawful Good... most people *do* think of the "lawful stupid" stereotype, but heroes like Batman are often aligned as Lawful Good. He holds to a strict code (no killing), respects the established governmental order and justice system over his own judgements, and works to protect and preserve life (good). And yet, he's an awesome and complex character, and by no means "lawful stupid". Just something to think about :D It's possible to play an epic paladin.

You do not roll for starting hit points in pathfinder. At level 1, you just start with the maximum for your class. For instance, wizards start with 6 hp, rogues and clerics with 8, fighters with 10. Then you add your constitution modifier. For instance, a fighter with a 12 constitution would have a +1 modifier. His hit points would start at 10 + 1 = 11.

Each Class has a die you roll. For Example most fighter types are a d10 base. You would roll one d10 (per level) and ad the appropriate ability modifiers.

Each level, you roll your hit die and gain that many hit points. If you have a constitution bonus, you add that to the gained HP at each level. So if you start a first level fighter with, say, 14 con, then you roll 1d10, add two, and that's how many HP you have. If you gain a second level in fighter, you'd roll an additional 1d10+2, and gain that many maximum HP. Repeat. Hit dice are mostly for monsters, and can be ignored.

Answering to your question: Summoner is a class in Pathfinder found in "Ultimate Magic" there are many classes in Pathfinder that allow you to build an Illusionist character, but I can't recall any supplement that includes Tieflings as a player's race. In 4E, Tieflings are a player's race and you have many many different classes who allow you to build a character specialized in summoning and/or illusion. Both systems will allow you a great amount of freedom and endless options. I vote for 4E!

Just Google "tiefling pathfinder" and you'll find the entry for the tiefling in the Bestiary. One great thing about Pathfinder is that all of its core books and bestiaries are online. The Tiefling entry has rules for creating Tiefling characters.

Nice video. Helpful. Without seeing the entire sheet it seems odd they wouldn't have a space to write the armor down underneath the armor section if they're giving the other sections the treatment. It's good you went against the grain a bit. But it's good you mention you could go back and min-max the Skills based on rearranging the ability scores. The graphic design layout is easy to read but not very RPG fantasy gamey. Looks more like instructions for a power drill lol

I have my players roll 4d6 minus the lowest die 7 times and pick the best 6 scores and that way they can place the scores however they want and pick their class based on what they want to play. It tends to creat a little higher scores but not so high they all powerful . To me they are the heros of the world so if their scores are a a bit higher then normal thats fine with me .Great video guys .

I started on 4e. Pathfinder/D&D 3.5e (are incredibly similar Pathfinder is basically an updated 3.5e) gives you more roleplaying freedom though there is more maths. D&D 4e is more focused on quick resolve combat. Like for example in my 3.5e campaign my players have got a small trade empire going from buying ships & recruiting crew and I find the rules comfortably support this. My 4e campaign is more about MMO style fighting. 4e is easier to learn but in my opinion not as satisfying.

Pathfinder is the 3.5 edition revisited. 4E is much simpler, balanced and practical. It was designed to solve the main weakness and limitations of the 3.5 edition, so strongly recomend 4E. The power between classes are very unbalanced in pathfinder. The fighter classes are better at lower levels, but wizards by far outweight them at medium and high levels. Besides, a fighter can't do much other than the same weapon attacks whilst spellcasters have a wide variety of spells and interesting powers.
@GamerGoggles12 жыл бұрын
I am uncertain as to whether or not you can grab a tiefling in Pathfinder, but I am sure there is something really close. As for starting with 4e or Pathfinder I would go with Pathfinder for the simple reason that 4e is on its way out, so the support will be minimal in the near future. With that said 5th ed will be out late this year or early next (not an official date yet). If you want to get started right away pathfinder is the way to go.
@180sxify12 жыл бұрын
im thinking u mean with stats modifiers? the +3 is the benefit your statistic gives to your secondary abilities, skills etc. starting at 10 it is considered average, so u get no modifier, and whether u are going up, or down, in stats this will adjust.

When you were doing the feats you said the feats have pictures of the classes that CAN take them. Did you mean classes that can conventional use them better than others? I'm aware there are prerequisites but are certain feats only accessible by certain classes?
@quantus58756 жыл бұрын
What the pictures of the classes with each feat is supposed to show what classes the given feat is recommended for, i.e. it's used to help players make their feat choices. So for example, if a feat has a picture of the rogue and fighter on it, it means that the the feat is recommended for the rogue and fighter, but a cleric or wizard can still take it. The actual class prerequisites for a feat are listed in the prerequisites for each feat (right under the title of each feat), for example the feat: "Selective Channeling" has the prerequisites: Charisma 13 and Cleric, meaning only Clerics with a Charisma of 13 or higher can take the "Selective Channeling" feat. Another example might help. The feat "Weapon Finesse" has a picture of a fighter and a rogue, and the prerequisites listed for this feat are "none". This means that this feat is recommended for a fighter or a rogue, but you can still take this feat if you are a wizard or a cleric. Hope this makes sense. :-)

How many skills do I put down when I start and how do I know which ones are correct (if followed by the book)?
@quantus58756 жыл бұрын
The number of skills you get depends on your class. How many you get is listed on top of page 34 in the Hero's Handbook. See the section on page 34 called "(D) Skills at 1st Level" and it is explained in detail right there.

The more freedom you want the more complicated it gets. Sure you can play a Tiefling in Pathfinder, it is in the Bestiary. Summoner and Illusionist are specializations of the Wizard. Tiefling is a core class in D&D 4th and I am not sure about Summoner or Illusionist in 4th. In the end it will come back to bite you if you go overly complicated on your first try on pen'n'paper RPGs. Do yourself a favor and go for the basic stuff for your first adventure, they can be plenty exciting on their own

@NoESanity6 жыл бұрын
using the same sheet... no problem, all of the boxes will correspond properly except the skills. hell, if all you're doing is keeping track of your stats, there is nothing to say you can't use a piece of notebook paper, it won't change the way the game plays just because you don't have the same sheet as everyone else.

Can someone please help me? I'm using the Core Rulebook (can't find Beginner's Box where I live) and I am making a wizard, my int modifier is 4, I put 1 skill point on Linguistics, with that +3 for class skill I now have 8 points in Linguistics. Does that mean I can still get only 1 language because I put only 1 point, or 8, or what?
@quantus58756 жыл бұрын
Not quite. This is how it works per the Pathfinder Core Rulebook: First you get languages based on your race, the simplest case is a Human gets one language, which is "Common". Second you get bonus languages according to your Intelligence modifier. So if your Intelligence is 18, you have a +4 INT modifier, so you get 4 extra bonus languages on top of what you got for your race. You then get one extra language for every point you put in Linguistics. To make things slightly more complex some character classes get bonus languages, these are detailed (if any) in the rules for each class. For example a Druid gets the free extra language: "Druidic". So in your example assuming you are a Human Wizard with an 18 Intelligence and you put one skill rank in Linguistics you would have a total of 6 Languages, i.e. 1 (human) + 4 (INT modifier) +1 (for the skill rank you put in Linguistics). btw: The Pathfinder Beginner's Box does not have any Language rules -- just the simplification that everyone speaks "Common", so all the player characters can talk to each other. :-) What you will see is that on Page 6 of the Beginner's Box Transition Guide there is a paragraph that talks about Languages. It basically says it is an advanced rule, and refers you to the Pathfinder Core Rulebook for language rules.

Just one of the different methods used to generate a character's Ability Scores. In this method you roll 4 die, remove the lowest roll and add the other 3 together to form the score. If this isn't the method of choice or you wanna try another method, you can look it up on d20pfsrd.com.

Super stats is just something your gaming group made up. It's basically what is called a "House Rule", i.e. your group decided to change the rules on attribute stats. Changing the rules like this and using "House Rules" is ok, if everyone in the group that is playing with the rule is ok with it.

What is the closest to a Druid?
@quantus58756 жыл бұрын
In the Pathhfinder Beginner's Box they only have four classes to make the game easier to learn. The class that is closest to a Druid in the Beginner's Box is the "Cleric". You could use a "Cleric" and just make some of the spells he takes a little more thematic with nature. The other option is how I usually teach people to play Pathfinder. I use the Pathfinder Beginner's Box and slowly add classes from the Pathfinder Core Rules. The Pathfinder Core Rulebook includes the rules for the Druid.

So many people misrepresent Lawful. Your tree-hugging character who vengefully goes after anyone who hurts trees is actually more of a Chaotic example. ..actually, most people tend to misrepresent ethos in general. Lawful is simply a representation of ordered and disciplined thought processes, where Chaotic is a representation of emotional thought processes. Simple question: Are you a passionate person who allows their emotions to rule them or not? Neutral lies between them obviously.
