Patholi making with&without turmeric leaves | Arashina ele kadubu | Genasele recipe | Sweet kadubu
Genasale is a sweet kadubu can be prepared any time, but it is a special dish for nagara Panchami in South Canara. We can use turmeric leaves or banana leaves. But turmeric leaves give a nice flavour to the dish. One must be careful regarding consistency of the batter to prepare a perfect sweet kadubu. Grated banana mixed with jaggery is stuffed inside the rice batter. So ingredients are very few, but prepare it carefully by following all the conditions said in the video.
Ingredients:
Raw rice 1/2 kg
Greated coconut 2
Jaggary 1/4 kg
Tumeric leaves
Banana leaf

Pandan leaves are popular in South East Asia! But it's Aroma is different from turmeric leaves . turmeric leaves, sweet smell blends with jaggery 👍

My dear Sudarshan, Though it may appear to be simple with just 3 ingredients, you need expertise in making the rice dough with the correct consistency. You need nimble and delicate fingers to handle the patholi after it is steamed to prevent breaking the soft patholis. Using turmeric leaves is very thoughtful. Apart from flavour it spreads it's natural juices onto the patholis which will be medicinal. We must be proud of of our ancestors is using simple items for handling as well as consumption. It is made compulsorily on Nagara Panchami in coastal Karnataka for naivedya, nothing to do with season.

@@chiragk7399 For whichever festival, seasonal produce is used as offering. If it wasn't the season when lush turmeric leaves are growing, some other thing would be offered, little boy. I have lived long enough to understand these things

Nagarapanchami special food is Patholi. Very good presentation. 👌🙏Also reminding Pathrode by sitting near leaves.😃Our steamed foods are great health and taste wise.
