It's not a toxic relationship. Both understand each other's feelings, they understand that it isn't Hannah's fault (she didn't know she was carrying a disease) and the man is going to stick by her so they can pursue a healthy life. If that isn't commitment and a healthy relationship, I don't know what is

It's happened before. Search online for Marry Mallon (Typhoid Mary). An asymptomatic carrier of Salmonella Typhi (bacteria). She infected 51-122 people and caused at least 3 deaths. Quarantined twice, the second time lasting over 23 years. Pathologists studied her on an island and actually hired her as a technician. She sterolized bottles, took recordings, and prepared glass slides for them. She was occasionally allowed to leave the island, but spent the rest of her life on the island.

pandemic?? what are you talking about?? think hard about this. how many healthy people do you know that actually died from Covid 19?? bubonic plague was an actual pandemic, it killed 80% of the people in the city of Paris, men women and children, not just sick people. 25% of Europe died in a few years, and yes I realize that it is a bacterial infection, it still is killing people today about 5 people die per year in North America, but today it is treatable with antibiotics which did not exist until a few decades after the plague. ya lots of people got sick from Covid, but what do you expect from a new virus strain, seriously? Its been happening forever, people get a new virus, their body gets natural immunity and then they don't get that strain again, covid only assisted the sick people to die a little sooner, people with cancer, aids, heart problems, obesity, compromised immunity and other similar medical issues that were already killing them. Only a few viruses are actually fatal to healthy people, rabies as an example. getting any virus or bacterial infection sucks, but covid was definitely not as mortally serious as we were told, many of the reported covid deaths were false reporting so hospitals and individuals could get government $, mostly just political agenda and exaggerated media to get ratings, I believed it at first, but the facts didn't support the agenda.

@@Marie.b not... quite. It's not that we're teaching the bugs to be stronger, it's that we're kiIIing off the weaker ones (who perish from the antibiotics) and leaving only the stronger ones (resistant) to multiply and continue on. There IS horizontal gene transfer, but it's not entirely intentional. Bacteria don't go "oh no antibiotic, better hit the gym and get stronger" it's just a natural process.

Seems like overcompensation--we give a pound of cure, which the bacteria adjust to. We've become *too* sterile, so the bacteria/viruses mutate in order to survive everything we throw at them, plus our immune systems don't learn to fight things that we don't get exposed to. Ironically, I wonder if these strains would reduce if we backed off on treatment a bit, in certain cases, or practiced a sort of environmental vaccination?
@SharpForceTrauma
@SharpForceTrauma Жыл бұрын
@@tgbluewolf I think at this point, that would just make it worse. Infectious bacteria dont evolve backwards. We'll always be in this endless battle between sterilization and infection, and we just have to keep coming up with new solutions, and we've been on this path since the start of sterile medicine. Now you wont get gangrene in a stubbed toe, but you'll get one off rare bacterial infections.

A very interesting case. Pus usually is produced by an infection. Pus = bacteria, dead WBCs, cell debris. It MUST be drained ASAP. The patient had purulent tonsils. Recommended stay in the hospital. He should present a temperature of 40 C, vomiting. I usually made the incision without anesthesia. It hurts more the needle than the cut. If you do it quickly, the pain is minimal and you finished.

Let me tell you, there is a procedure called Acupuncture, invented by the Chinese 5,000 years ago, according to which, the vital energy or CHI, QI, etc flows through 14 channels in your body. There are 2 types of energy, the Ying and the Yang, which must be in balance for the patient to stay healthy ( Chinese theory ). We used a different theory, not that one, which was a breakthrough 5,000 years ago, but not today. But acupuncture is effective for many conditions. I've never had any trouble getting the needle to numb up the skin. Not even when it was going in my big toe for an ingrown toenail that was waaaay at the back. Everyone handles it differently. I've seen some people nearly faint and some who do scream and cry. All in a person's pain tolerance XD
@Nightraven26
@Nightraven26 2 жыл бұрын
@@shinigamikitty depends on the level of inflammation. If the tissue is red and inflamed, the pH of the tissue is more acidic, and since local anesthetics are bases they don't work as good in the inflamed tissue so you need to give more of them and even then it's not 100% they'll block all the pain.

@@annabellehe4307 I do agree that this would not show up on anything.. esp since she had to infect another person before knowing that she had it.. but OP did say medical history not just sexual history/testing.. but once again you're right, the character being hospitalized would not tell her sexual partners anything about what they could contract

@@adamiguess218 it doesn’t necessarily need to be to this degree of screening but at least in a general sense their background health overall. Otherwise it’s all a risk we’re taking. That, and the fact that this was a tv show meant to be dramatic and is somewhat outdated seeing as medical science is advancing especially now days, I’m sure there are ways on telling.

But if he's exposed to it all the time, wouldn't he just end up becoming immune to it as well?
@DracaliaRay
@DracaliaRay 2 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. The immune system is really weird. Also if a bacteria that just lives naturally in you goes somewhere it’s not supposed to be you can get a deadly infection from your own bacteria. Some bacteria may hide from the immune system too by embedding themselves into tissue where antibodies can’t reach.

The concept of asymptomatic carriers is fascinating to me. I have a carrier gene for a rare blood disorder that causes abnormally high levels of iron in the blood. My Mom has the condition, and fortunately its a relatively benign one in that while her iron levels tend to be elevated to the point that sometimes doctors have a hard time reading her iron levels (it causes an error on the equipment), she doesn't otherwise experience any symptoms. When she was pregnant, though, she couldn't take iron supplements because they made her sick since she was effectively overdosing on iron. Of course, true to form for our family, she didn't tell the doctors she stopped taking the supplements, but they kept being like, "Your iron levels look great!"

Did the patient finally land ? In the case of the asymptomatic carrier, I do not believe the germ is impossible to eradicate. You check the gall bladder and other areas.
