Patient Karralakshmi 27 years, female from Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh presented with complaints of blood-stained right ear discharge for three months, accompanied by decreased hearing and a buzzing sound in the right ear. Clinical examinations and scans diagnosed the patient with a tumor named Tympanojugular Paraganglioma (Glomus Tumor) in the Skull Base and Jugular Foramen.
She was counseled for surgery for the tumor excision along with an OSIA Hearing Implant to restore her hearing that was lost. She underwent a complex procedure called Infratemporal fossa approach and total tumor excision was achieved with preservation of her facial nerve. She has been doing well post-surgery, her implant was switched on three weeks after surgery and she is on regular follow-up. She is thrilled to have been cured of the tumor and also successfully regained her hearing in a single surgery. We wish her all the very best in life.
