Whoa! I didn’t see any mites in your earlier clips of the eggplant progress…that escalated quickly. So glad you still got to enjoy your harvest. I watch every video you make- it has really helped with tips and what we can/can’t grow in these. I have a sprout, harvest and bounty. I always learn something!

I used to get aphid infestations every time I would grow bell peppers so I started dipping each plant in a bowl of solution consisting of 2 cups water, 1 TB Teatree soap, 1 TB Peppermint soap, 1/4 TB 1% Peroxide and 1/4 cup 70% alcohol. I got this recipe from another channel. I watched the plants carefully and as soon as I would see a hint of an infestation, I would dip them. It's easier while they're still small and easy to handle. But it worked every time.

Thank you for your experiments. They are a big help. I am growing patio eggplant (started in February). I have a lot of flowers, but they do not seem to germinate, despite my lightly brushing, blowing or shaking them. Some seem like they have, but the vegetable seems to dry out. I'll keep trying, now that I know it's possible.

2 things I can think of given your results. 1. Change the water to ensure no pH imbalance issues. 2. Increase the nutrients since eggplant needs a little more nutrients than standard recommendations.

It's really hard to tell how exactly the spider mites infestation begins. I have a strong observation that the weak and dead growth on the plant attracts or trigger the spider mites infestation. Temperatures, humid situation, and plant stress also trigger spider mites infestation and this variety might be getting little stress in hydroponics and favoring the infestation.

Remove the plant and wash with organic soap. There is a family soap I have that lists many many uses! Walmart target and Amazon has

Between Fairy Tale and Patio Baby which one is more productive and more suitable for AG? TIA

hmm... I see both are nearly same and both work equally well in Aerogarden. Basically Patio Baby produced more eggplants but they are short. Fairytale produced comparatively less eggplants but they get huge. So, if I measure the yield by weight, it is almost close.

All you needed to do to prevent spider mites from ever showing up in the first place, is to mist the plant every few days with a water spray bottle. Spider mites will only take up residence on plants that are constantly dry. Now you know for next time.
