If you choose to go down the Bowie rabbit hole, you will never be the same...in a good way. Not only was he uber talented, he consistently reinvented himself into a new version of cool throughout his career. And unlike most artists, he just got better with age. He and Prince passed away the same year. Two of the all time greats.

I'm reminded of the time my friend trolled his sister. If you remember the music video, there's a scene where the gal is scrubbing the the street. Fast forward to IRL and my friend sees his sister scrubbing the kitchen floor in a similar manner and just starts singing the song. I wasn't even there but found that funny AF.

David Bowie was my first crush. I was born in 1979 and my favorite movie as a kid was The Labyrinth starring David Bowie as Jarreth, The Goblin King. When my niece was little in the late 1990's it became her fave movie as well and her first crush. Now she has children who love it and we all watch it together and sing and dance to it!❤

Stevie Ray Vaughan's playing on the songs from that album that they played on the radio were the first time many had heard him. It sounded like Bowie had managed to get Albert King to play on the song. This was before Vaughan's first album had come out, and he decided to tour promoting his album rather than tour with Bowie, which would have required learning a lot of other Bowie songs. On the music video, Bowie pretended to be playing the guitar.

For more funk and soul: Try cuts from Bowie's Young Americans album with Luther Vandross back-up singers and David Sanborn on saxophone, like Somebody Up There Likes Me, Win, Fascination, Right and Can You Hear Me. Also Carlos Alomar funk on Secret Life of Arabia (Heroes album). His Let’s Dance album produced by Chic’s Nile Rogers (and it’s all good!). From Station to Station album: Stay. Also Black Tie, White Noise with Al B. Sure.…Tonight with Tina Turner... A friend of the the Black community - complained to MTV about Black videos being relegated to early morning. Married to Somali super-model Iman.

That’s not the original version!” 😂 But it’s a great reaction as always. I get a kick out of your more animated or hyped up reactions. lol.. Anyway, you should react to David Bowie and Bing Crosby’s version of The Little Drummer Boy from 1977. 👍🏼

What a great reaction to Bowie, he really was an amazing performer. Artists used to need to have charisma as well as talent, they could command a huge stage all by themselves without the need for gimmicks and background dancers etc I get that can be fun, but there is just something about old school artists missing from many modern artists.

"Sensational!" she says. Holy Overstatement, Batgirl. You liked that? That's a big deal for a first impression. For a lot of us I guess it grows on you- eventually. When David Bowie first came out- at least for us- a friend who had a larger record collection that I had- he had something like 200 albums in his neat little bedroom, albums all stored, organized and cataloged- albums were not cheap then, 200 albums was a significant collection. One day he showed me his latest album, some guy named David Bowie, the album cover featuring the weird title of The Rise of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Just from the title I was out. I was still listening to Joni Mitchell's Blue that came out the year before. I was still learning Cotton Jenny on the guitar from Gordon Lightfoot's Summer Side of Life album. So what's this new thing? Some guy named David Bowie? He was like a rock thrown through a stained glass window. My impression did not improve when Pin Ups and Diamond Dogs followed. The first time I liked a Bowie song- kind of- it sounded like crap, but interesting crap- was a decade ago when Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, the commander of the mission at the time, sang Space Oddity aboard the space station after smuggling his guitar aboard. Here's the first music video I'm aware of filmed in space: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gcd_dpyVxtTcfqM.html

David lived for a while near my apartment in Berlin (400 meter). He had a beautiful black woman (with 60 she looked like 30 and a bit like Grace Jones). Let's Dance was an early music video they played discotheques (Ballhaus Tiergarten - now an embassy). Btw really first music video was Scorpio Rising by Kenneth Anger (1963).
