I kinda agree with you, this is very different from Coltrane, I think the tone, articulation and content of the lines sounded pretty different from Coltrane (I would say a bit more similar to Kenny Garrett) and rather, Pat sounded very much like himself, certainly not to say that Coltrane wasn't part of what formed his sound for sure. But anyway, what an EPIC solo

the music has been in C# minor for a while, and if you skip back a few bars you can see that all the As being played are natural, because usually in the regular sense of C# minor, the sixth degree is lowered. So when it goes "Dorian" he starts playing A-sharps, which would mean he's using the Dorian mode, a minor scale with a raised sixth degree instead. Including that one higher note brings a different vibe to the music. Dorian has a very cool vibe
