If Rangers matched that offer, he'd be in NY rn. Rangers just didn't have cap space and didn't want him to mess with team chemistryp

It's only a 1 year deal at 2.5 or so million so if it doesn't work out, it's fine. Red Wings got a low-risk contract with this one for extra manpower on the forward core. Should have no regrets for trying and there's no reason for this to backfire. It's either a nothing signing or a splendid bargain.

Every comment here before mine is apparently from ignorant Gen Z people. Kane is 35 and he respects the organization because they're excellent. They became bad because it's inevitable after a long run of dominance and they didn't fire Ken Holland when they should have. Yzerman is in charge and the Ilitch family still owns the team. They're going to become great again under that leadership and Kane knows it. Also Yzerman didn't need to be gifted 1st overall picks to get back into playoff contention.
@rivahkillah
@rivahkillah 6 ай бұрын
He's also taken years to turn that franchise around. Most teams that get a 1st pick overall turn around much faster. And Kane is only signed with Detroit for a single year, so he'll likely be traded at the deadline when Detroit isn't in contention.

Seeing a lot of comments with a similar theme about this deal. Why hasn’t he gone to a contender, no one else would have him, etc, etc. This is a low risk move for Yzerman, I’d say probably more upside than down. And on being in contention for the cup, sure, Wings are definitely not a favourite but there’s a lot of objectively better or proven teams lower down the standings right now. Wings are slowly building but this is a player you’d rather have in than out.

Regardless of whether it was a signing of "whoever would take me", or a signing of "let me prove I can play", he's still making the effort to be active and prolong his career. Coming from a life long RW fan, its definitely weird having him on our roster. The Red Wings have been mid for a while, and him signing with us isn't going to put us in a playoff chance in the slightest. Its not night and day BUT, he is an established HOF that should jive well with our team. I hope he's able to pick up better then where he left off, and make a veteran impact on our younger guys.

I don't get this move he said last season his ultimate aim was to win a 4th Stanley Cup I like detroit as a team but there not close to be able to contend for a cup it's not even like this is a multiple year deal it's 1yr deal. I think personally more about the money no problem with that.

I thought the exact same thing.. I think the pairing with Cat means he can produce more points to up his perceived value this season, while on the team that has the most cash to offer him. I would be shocked if Detroit makes the playoffs OR if they keep him next year. I think if he can still play, a legit contender would offer him a deal.
@jackxoi
@jackxoi 6 ай бұрын
I view it as a perfect, "prove it" deal. If he can't play close to his old self, or plays worse, then it's only 1 year and he'll be off Detroit by the end of the season on a fairly cheap contract. However, if he is even closely similar to his play style or keeps up relatively well for his age or situation, it's a win for both him and Detroit because Detroit most likely makes the playoffs with that sort of play from him, and like stated above, Kane's value increases.
@marcosrattenbury6944

@jackxoi9002 he'll be off detroit next season regardless its a 1yr deal if he performs then he head to free agency and sign for a contending team. I was a bit unsure after I did it and slightly guilty but as the days went on knew it was the RIGHT decision for me!.. and my happiness and comfort was most important.. He knows for a “fact” he will be better than two years ago? Quite a comment! Is he aware he scored 92 points two years ago?

@@thewizardofoz511I think he’s being modest (Kane). Not too many players are still in the league who Kane had a great connection with. DeBrincat really is a huge factor for this signing. Those two were fucking LETHAL playing together (even on BAD Hawks teams), and as long as Kane isn’t being overconfident with his post-surgery physical status, Detroit fans are in for quite the show. Signed: a very salty Blackhawks fan that wishes Kane and DeBrincat were still here to play with Bedard. Lol
