What REALLY improved my running was to push the pelvis forward and upward (which will also raise the hips). These running technique videos tend to focus on foot placement. But if you can manage to have a proud posture and sort of push the pelvis a bit forward/upward it will make a huge difference. Once you get that basic position to work then you will automatically run significantly faster. Above all it avoids a sitting-type of position which is very ineffective as much of the power is simply pushed into the ground+ it can cause injuries. Remember to run with a high frequency (many rpm's) and place your feet underneath your body!

You mean to postetiorly tilt the pelvis

this is outdated an incorrect information see here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gcmhrNRn07KVlZ8.html the pelvis should not be pushed forward

for you. for someone with posterior pelvic tilt this would be the opposite of beneficial.

I don't understand Korean. But I do understand the comparison between the Macau and the Japanese runner. Macau is running more efficiently by landing more softly to reduce the impact forces, and exerting less muscle contraction through his legs and feet.

You don't need to know Korean to appreciate this. It's like watching Koyaanisqatsi. Except this is life IN balance.

Notice how much ahead of his center of gravity he lands, and how late is his pull compared to Pose theory. sequence starting at ~1:00. Much better in BF sequence at ~2:00

After filming myself running at 240fps I thought I run completely wrong, but it looks exactly like Patrick Makau. So, it just looks weird but seems to be the right way after all.

can you forefoot strike in 10mm heel drop running shoes or do u need minimalist shoes
@axlrosea6759 жыл бұрын
yes. 8mm works better for me though. minimal not needed. it's a matter of form in the end

I prefer 4~8mm drop
@pepperparkffm9 жыл бұрын
Eric Doyka I highly recommend minimal shoes. 10mm is definitive too much. Same for 8mm. Try a shoe with a very low sole. I run barefoot, or with FifeFingers. But you can also go for Merryl, Vivo's or whatever vendor out there. When you do natural running, you should have a zero drop.
@DJBelbe8 жыл бұрын
+Eric Doyka you really need minimal shoes, else you'll be tripping on the heel of the shoe a lot, it'll just get stuck on the ground mid-stride, I know, I've tried! LOL! that doesn't mean you can't use a 2-5mm drop, but more than that is very cumbersome. Also, the extra heel protection will make it comfortable to heel-strike and you'll have to conscioulsy think of every stride to keep going mid-foot or forefoot. It's simply easier to allow your propioceptors to do the work for you. But for that they need to be allowed to feel the ground properly.

This runner from Japan has a way inefficient running style, compared to the African... but runs 2:08:44 on the marathon. Well, if he would have the perfect efficient style of the African... he would run 2:04 guesstimating... so if you are him.. are u going to change up your style with all the remodelling of muscle memory and hypertrofied muscle groups? Would it be even feasible?

In the documentary, he says the first point of contact is his baby toe and like dominoes falling his big toe is last. So his big toe and midfoot hit the ground at the same time. I just saw this video in January 2021, so a super late reply.

The power(?) from the ground while he running
@FYI910211 ай бұрын
Reaction force from the ground to the man, the asian runner has a larger reaction force which has to be abosorbed by his body, also the force has no component in the direction of travel (forward), so it shows he is more inefficient
