@SoulCavern a few 4th quarter comebacks but the worst td/pass ratio since the merger. He has 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Mason came in with barely any 1st string snaps in training camp, preseason, and practices.

I think it was very arrogant of KP when asked the question "did he learn anything watching Mason play well " and he said NO. Mason did everything well that KP has failed to show that he could do.

Ok since some people miss my point. Mason doesn't bail at the first sign of pressure, real or imagined. He maintains his pocket and finds and delivers the ball better. I think he reads the defenses better and where to go with the ball faster. In just the 3 regular season games, Mason had the highest QBR in the League. Pickett has never done that so I would hope he would learn from someone that does it better.

To answer you question on our thoughts on QB: I personally feel like KP should and will be. I agree with PatP on needing to step up, BUT, let's be serious... Matt Canada was bad, and the Oline was trash. Mason got run over all year, and combine that with Madden level Rookie play calling, KP had no chance. Interim OC come in and he has his best game, then he got hurt. New OC, give him a chance to grow. Our fans are so spoiled by Ben's instant success. Bradshaw was trash in his first few seasons. Big Ben's stats his first 5 seasons were trash, but look at that team Ben started on. People called Tua and Josh Allen busts after 2 seasons, now they are winners and Allen regularly in the MVP discussion. Maybe KP doesn't cut it, but c'mon, give him a chance to grow and give him someone who's going to call plays that won't get his left out to dry.

Why is it important to sign a quarterback in free agency? When we look at stats on quarterbacks for the 2023 season, we need to ask ourselves, “Among all the stats, what stat is the most in important stat that the Pittsburgh Steelers need to be mindful of in the coming 2024 season?” Some may say we need a mobile quarterback, but how important is mobility compared to being a pocket passer. The greatest complaint among Steelers’ fans for this season wasn’t whether Kenny Pickett or Mitch Trubisky could escape the pocket to get a few yards. The greatest concern for the Steelers’ fans was seeing a quarterback who could stay in the pocket, find the open receiver, and make the necessary completions. Out of all the stats, the Pittsburg Steelers need to focus on is passer rating. Among 59 NFL quarterbacks that played in the 2023 season, Trubisky ranked 47th and Pickett ranked 29th. Steelers’ fans expect better quarterback play. Some of the NFL media has been pushing the idea that the Steelers should trade for Justin Fields or Russell Wilson, which may provide better play than Pickett has shown thus far; however, Steelers’ fans want a playoff caliber quarterback. Fields and Wilson are ranked 24th and 8th respectfully in the passer rating category, but Steelers’ fans still want a quarterback with playoff potential. Steelers’ fans want someone who can compete with quarterbacks like C. J. Stoud (100.8), Lamar Jackson (102.7) Patrick Mahomes (92.6), and Brock Purdy (113.0), but what if that quarterback was with the Steelers in the 2023 season. Among all the 59 quarterbacks that played during the 2023 NFL regular season, Mason Rudolph (118.0) ranks 1st in passer rating for games played. Yes, Steelers’ fans there is a quarterback…. that we need to sign in free agency, and his name is Mason Rudolph.

Kenny has something inside him that a lot of people see... We have forgotten that some players need time to grow... Mason is an example of that... I am all for Kenny having the chance this year to prove himself... As mentioned the conundrum is that we are at a point in which there are so many variables based upon the new offensive coordinator and additional strengthening of the line that both have the opportunity to prove themselves further and it is a difficult situation to be in... I could root for either

MASON QB1. Mason has played 12 NFL starts. Kenny has had 25. Mason has outplayed him easily, and never got a fair shot. It's okay to accept that you made a bad first round pick. There are several examples of first round duds. It happens. Don't have to become a victim to the sunk cost fallacy for a 3rd season while wasting the talent of 52 other players on the team.

Wrong. The OFFENSE went 3 and out. Not just kenny. The o line without Broderick Jones was absolutely terrible. Matt canada was calling high-school plays in the nfl. Instead of dragging kp8s name through the mud, and creating more divide, how about trying to be fair, reasonable and use your brain.

Hey guys, much respect to you both. I hope, Mr Pat P, continue playing w/Steelers. That said, Mr McFadden, Cognac is supposed to be sipped, out of a glass with wider mouth. However that would require a real desire to enjoy it. Our team, the Steelers needs a Quarterback within confidence, and a leader. I believe that KP isn't that. I also believe he likely lost some of his confidence watching Mason end of the season. Justin Fields, I believe, has the talent, and could be a superior QB. He has confidence, but I believe it is in the direction of cockyness, not so much in the leadership direction our offense needs.

I think you have to have a competition. Bring in a veteran to compete and possibly bring back Mason to compete. Whoever wins between the 3 is the starter. I’m definitely not ready to give up on Pickett, but he has to show growth this offseason for sure. Although I’m not opposed to bringing in a player like Kirk or Russ depending on money

I know that Kenny Picket is under development and needs to grow more. The problem we have with the current NFL and media circumstance is immediate results, but after all these years of not being able to get a win in the playoffs I think we need to let Mason take over and let Kenny mature in the backstage, similar to what Geno and Mason have done. I would take Tannenhill as an insurance but I am not sure that he would take a QB3 spot so I would look for a good QB2 available
