The Jesus Prayer, also known as The Prayer, is a short formulaic prayer esteemed and advocated especially within the Eastern churches: "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner." The prayer has been widely taught and discussed throughout the history of the Orthodox Church. The ancient and original form did not include the words "a sinner", which were added later. It is often repeated continually as a part of personal ascetic practice, its use being an integral part of the eremitic tradition of prayer known as hesychasm. The prayer is particularly esteemed by the spiritual fathers of this tradition as a method of cleaning and opening up the mind and after this the heart (kardia) and bringing about firstly the Prayer of the Mind or more correctly the Noetic Prayer (Νοερά Προσευχή) and after this the Prayer of the Heart (Καρδιακή Προσευχή). The Prayer of the Heart is considered to be the Unceasing Prayer that the Apostle Paul advocates in the New Testament. Theophan the Recluse regarded the Jesus Prayer stronger than all other prayers by virtue of the power of the Holy Name of Jesus. Though identified more with Eastern Christianity, the prayer is found in Western Christianity in the catechism of Catholic Church. It also is used in conjunction with the recent innovation of Anglican Prayer Beads. The prayer "have mercy on me" is not meant to be a submissive pleading in front of a revengeful God, but refers to the manifold situations where people asked Christ to do something for them, to turn towards them, to grant them his attention and divine action. The prayer therefore asks Christ to work on and in the praying person, bringing God to them and helping them in their inner life. Singer: Patrick Lenk

Read 1st John 1:5-9. Through confession to trustworthy, godly, mature PEERS we find healing. And to God. Not just a priest, I don't think that's the magic bullet. There is no one magic bullet. Jesus is the magic bullet but we don't get how deep that goes. But read ALL of 1st John in the context of Ephesians 2:8-10 and you'll get it eventually. Christ makes you righteous ALL DAY every day, yes even when you sin because it does not depend on you it depends on him. So walk in the light with him who it does depend on since he already knows and loves you. Also his feelings of abundant love and mercy never change. Again, it does not depend on you. It depends on him. Even his love for you, and his salvation, is constant because he is. Not us.

Jesus saved my whole family from fire 🔥 accident we all are alive all of sudden holysprit woke me up and told me to put water and stop the fire in my home and open all the window 🪟 doors . The worst practice, you cannot free yourself from god. He is a pig. He rapes you , by controlling your eyes and touching your body with out your permition. He inserts himself into your dreams , and destroys your home and family. He Wiggles your toes and controls your body to call you to beg for mercy with every breath. . This prayer is like rape to the body and soul. Worse thing I ever stated and now I can’t stop. What’s the point of asking for mercy with every breath to a god that forgets you ask for mercy breath to breath. . The last thing he is is merciful. Bitter perhaps because he suffered now he wants all to suffer for eternity by begging for mercy. Take ecsacy. Once the hangover is over. You free. You can never free yourself from this practice

I started drinking when I was 16. I would drink at parties, but I also started drinking alone because I was unhappy, and I was in a lot of emotional pain all the time. My mom was very aggressive when I was younger, and my brother hated her and so did I. He started hanging out with shady people, he started failing all his classes, he was never home, and my parents fought all the time. I also ran away several times. I was always trying to figure out a reason as to why I was here or what the purpose of life was. So, I started looking at different philosophies, religions, and beliefs. When I was 18 after I was hungover, I got on my knees and I prayed for the first time. I asked if God was real that he would show me he was real because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was crying when I prayed for this. At that moment I felt a presence come over me like a wind. It was barely noticeable, but it was unlike anything in my life I had experienced up until that point. I was surprised when I felt it and I remember saying “what was that?” after that experience I pretty much forgot what happened and kept partying, until my senior year when I got arrested. After my arrest, my parents lost all their trust in me and I was expelled from high school. I was told never to come back to my school. At that time, I felt afraid and hopeless. That’s when I started looking for God, and I prayed that he would reveal himself in my life and that he would give me signs. My prayers began getting answered so consistently that I couldn’t deny that God was doing something. It was mysterious and compelling. I ended up in Church and started reading the bible hours a day. I stopped hanging out with all my other friends because they were continually getting arrested. I was able to forgive my family and myself and to ask to be forgiven. I noticed how at Church people were judgmental and how they formed cliques but were afraid to be around anyone else different from them. It increased my faith because I realized Jesus was not like that and ever since I was young, I saw people as people regardless of who they were. After a while, it’s like I could see God's presence was in my life and then it felt like he wasn’t, and then he was, and then he wasn’t. One day I woke up and felt more depressed than I ever have in my entire life. I felt like I was dying on the inside. That night I prayed, and I said, God, I don’t see my life five years from now I'm going to die Jesus save me Lord, please save me. I was weeping when I said it and when I asked him to save me, I felt a presence inside of me like a heartbeat, and I felt it once like a pulse, and I said Lord please save me and I felt it again even stronger. It was like radiance. When I woke up the next morning, I had transformed everything felt brand new like I was a kid again. All my fears and all my racing thoughts everything was gone. I looked at my hands, and I said this can’t be real, it's impossible. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a different person. I started praying, and the holy spirit became entirely real to me; it was washing over me and inside of me. It was total love and peace, and I heard a voice but not an audible one, it was an inner voice. It said I am with you; I love you, I will never leave you, it’s done it’s finished. That was May 3rd, 2009, and ever since then I’ve followed God, I have seen many things change and many things I know wouldn’t have changed without faith and belief. I know what it’s like to be lost to feel you have no hope. Don’t ever think you’re stuck, or life can’t change because it can. My mom is a Christian now, Its night and day. Some of the things that went away during that period were severe anxiety and my addiction to alcohol. I’ve seen and experienced so many things that are miraculous and seen how God has worked in my life. When we ask God to forgive us for what we’ve done and turn away from our sins and wrongdoings and we believe in Christ's sacrifice everything changes. His word says if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that he died and rose again we will have eternal life but not just life after death but abundant life in the present. Our sins are erased not only past, present, and future but our burdens and fears are lifted also. Our thoughts, our minds, our hearts, our souls are transformed and united with God and we know his spirit lives in us. If you seek, pray, and knock you will know JESUS IS KING!!! HE LIVES!

I see myself in your testimony. Im addicted to drugs and alcohol but stayed away from it now for 4 mounts, atleast the drugs. No drug is like Jesus halleluljah ❤ may you have a happy life and continue to live for God. Amen❤❤

God will help you with every step on the way and also when sometimes you fall down, he will help you to stand up again. He loves you dearly, you are something special for him. If you dedicate time for praying ever day you will learn to feel him more and more as real and to feel/hear his advice and his love for you. Spending time with God is very important. Prayer time where we don´t ask him to give us certain things or help us with certain things but where we try to silence our own restless mind and our constant thoughts that hinder our awareness of God. The Jesus Prayer is an ancient excellent method to calm our mind and learn to feel the presence of God in us - so we can enter into the reality of God. I really can recommend a book on this topic. @@polishdaymio3558 Well Peter went and started the church in Greece at least a couple years before the roman church, it could be a gap as large as 30 years, but I don't know how long it was, all I know is that the Greek Orthodox church was started before the Roman Catholic church. The great schism in 1054 happened only because the pope started to do his own thing and thought he was above the patriarchs, which then caused a huge divide in the church. The Roman Catholic church has kind of lost its tradition in regards to the Novus Ordo starting up from vatican 2, I can appreciate the Latin Mass, but the Roman Catholic church has started to go downhill ever since 1054. What I appreciate about eastern orthodoxy is that its kept its ways ever since the beginning, and if there were any changes, those changes were very minor (from my understanding at least). Both churches are true churches in my opinion, due to them having the eucharist, but if you want to get down to the technicalities, the orthodox church has been the most traditional church and has kept its values since the beginning.

Only what can i say is that in Poland, Orthodox is translated into 'Prawosławie' and that means something near 'true way' or 'true faith', and, even when i kind of like Orthodox chants, atleast some of them, I'm pretty used to Roman Catholic church i started going to last year. Again: much appreaciated!

Just remember, it gets better, so long as you believe it, remember to get lots of rest, and when you are ready slowly begin incorperating things into your schedule again.. it’s a perspective, change your mind, change your life.. the more you see the cup half full, the more it will become so. I am praying for you now! If you can daily surrender all to Him in prayer, Yeshua will bring you peace! Ask for the Holy Spirit to indwell you with the gift of tongues. Praying in tongues when you don't know what to pray allows the Holy Spirit to accomplish so much in our hearts and minds. It is perfect prayer and it brings the unmistakable physical presence of Yah over me every time and the peace which surpasses all understanding. Please drink juice with one teaspoon of unflavored psyllium powder. Do research online. It helped stop diverticulitis attack. I heard it also helps control IBS. Only one tsp a day in water and juice and have extra fluids after too. May Jesus heal you.

@@guerillagrace This isn’t the point of the prayer. The Jesus prayer is meant to invoke Jesus’ name, lead to repentance, and help people “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). While it may heal people physically (I think), that shouldn’t be the reason you’re praying it

I'm struggling with a few things at the moment, and if you had any advice I would appreciate it: What I find hard is things like dinosaurs, and how they fit into the account in Genesis. It's not that I don't believe in Christ, it's just that when ever I am tempted to Sin these doubts related to the old testament come to my mind and I excuse myself because of them. Even though I continuously say I 'believe in Christ', I feel that this should mean that I believe in the Old Testament with all my heart too (as Christ was the fulfilment of the prophesies of the OT). Whenever doubts about the old testament come to my mind, my faith in Christ is also weakened, hence this is my current problem. I really want to come to a point where I believe with all my heart the entire Bible without reservations. At that point I will not keep excusing my sins and living in sin. I will never reject Christ, of course, I just pray God to give me true belief. I am amazed by the stories of modern saints who performed miracles. I understand that a wicked generation will ask for signs and get none, so I am not expecting God to 'reveal' anything to me as I am too much of a sinner. I will keep praying and attending Church and hope that one day I will have the strength to believe without any of my current reservations.

The description was perfect! Also, many Elders describe the prayer as containing the entire Gospel. In the first half, the "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God" it reveals who he is and where he derives his authority. The second half, "have mercy on me, a sinner" describes who we are in relation to Our Lord and a continual plead to save us.

@@uriah777 Christ's descent into hell after His Crucifixion and before His Resurrection is an ancient teaching of the Christian Faith, but has sadly been forgotten over the centuries. Particularly since the Protestant Reformation. It teaches basically that while His body still laid dead in the tomb, His soul descended to Hades (not actually Hell), in order to (1) proclaim victory over Death and Hades, because of Hos soon approaching Resurrection, and (2) to preached the Gospel to the Righteous souls of those who had died before, anticipating their promised Redemption. After this, His Body and Soul were re-united in His Glorious Resurrection and Ascension to Heaven. And He still reigns from Heaven, with His Resurrected Body and Soul being perfectly and eternally united. Scriptures that are used for this are: 1 Peter 3:18-20 - "For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison,who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water." 1 Peter 4:6 - "For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit." Ephesians 4:9 - "Now this, 'He ascended' -what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things." This ancient teaching of the Church is still taught today in the Roman Catholic Church, and also the Eastern Orthodox Churches.

The worst thing you could ever start is this prayer. You cannot free yourself from it. It feels as if I need an exorcism from God. Having God poccess your soul, is like having s legion of demons in you. In fact he brings the e demons with him. They follow him like lap dogs. And none of them are afraid of him or any of us. You will destroy yourself and family by embracing this prayer. Be quiet and go your way. It’s better to be ignorant than it is to beleive. This way at least God would give you a little mercy and forgives.

Once save your sins are not only forgiven their forgotten! Went to Heaven age 40 now age 74. Never had such joy, I was sharing Jesus existence I was full of his life, his love, his joy! I experience without sin and condemnation. He does not bring up sins, He brings up what you did to make him smile . Acts of kindness , love, mercy, speaking up for him and that brings the Kingdom of Heaven. I had to finish my life on earth so he sent me back, but once there you do not want to come back.
