Dies Irae translates to "Day of Wrath" and is part of the traditional roman catholic Requiem Chants (the liturgy for the Death). Basically it is known for images of Divine Judgment and the responsibilities for your life actions. The Chant stems from the 13th century and has a long history in endless music, art and literature.There were lots of impressive and sometimes even scary musicial compositions using this text throught the centuries (for example by Mozart). Johann Wolfgang von Goethe used the first, the sixth and the seventh stanza of the hymn in the scene "Cathedral" in the first part of his drama Faust (1808). The well-know "wrath" and "judgment" aspects are only part of the first half of the Chant, while it has a turn of redemption and hope in the middle. I tried to portrait that by changing the atmosphere of the Chant there and trying to get to the core of what it's meant to be. Also it is important, that the idea of Divine Judgment refers to the lower and fallen aspects of men, while the path of light is portray in the second half of the chant - a process that we all should go through in the course of our lifes. As always, there is a deeper hidden mystery in these chants regarding your own inner being and which isn't always be found in the litteral meaning. Singer and Production: Patrick Lenk

I just got this in my feed after I found out my grandfather reposed. I don't know if he was a Christian, but he had a heart above all selfish desires. After I heard the news, the moon came out from behind the clouds and it looked like an eye. I stated at it and I cried silent tears as I comforted my sister. After about 3 minutes the clouds took the moon back into the darkness. Now that I think of it, it was almost like God was looking down on us and let us know that our grandfather's soul is in His hands now. That was our grandpa's last goodbye to us and the the clouds taking back the moon, was as if the Gates of Heaven were closing as he went beyond. May God rest your soul Grandpa Robert, and thank you for this video! Christos Anesti! ❤️☦️

Some say that these sorts of Requiem chants are morbid, but I have never believed that. This one, in particular, is a beautiful _memento mori_ The "wisdom of the world" tells us to search for more thrills and more entertainment - anything to keep our minds from remembering our own helplessness, littleness, and mortality. But Christ teaches us NOT to run from our inevitable death, but rather to pick up our own crosses and accept death as he accepted it. He even goes so far as to encourage us to _embrace_ it as God's will for us, as He did. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we recognize death as powerless over our souls. The power it seems to have because of the ending of our bodies is an illusion. Death itself has been conquered by Christ on our behalf. This apparent death is nothing more than a normal stage in our eternal life in God. At our core, all of us are truly immortal souls within whom God dwells, and our immortality is guaranteed by His presence there. So let us look death in the face unworriedly, and welcome it when it comes.

Well, this is Revelation, and we will see it. From the other side, of course. When Jesus went up on the cross, he didn't just redeem all sins that had been committed, but all that shall ever be committed. Can you imagine the utter agony? I am proud of my faith.

This is such a nonsense... Jesus redeemed sins to be committed in the future?? I believe everyone should redeem their own sins ...
@marinbilic2893
@marinbilic2893 3 жыл бұрын
@@dana6814 it is not really a nonsense if you connect the dots with the Old testament, because before people made sacrifices for God, and with the New testament God himself is sacrificing Himself for saving us, so that we do not longer need to do sacrifices in that way as we did before Him. You are right, everybody should redeem their sins, that is why christian call their God Father, because children are learning by mimicking and imitating their parents. Christ came down on Earth so that people could imitate His life; to pick our own crosses, not for the sins of other people becaue Christ did it: for doing what you're made for - helping and loving your friends and enemies (not their sins) You can see the correlation with the number 3 - the first salvation from the sins was with the flood, the second was with Christ, and what Christians believe will come the third one, and that is described woth Revelation, but you cannot understand it if you didn't catch up with Old and New testament, because it is one of the most symbolic book ever written. I hope this helped :)

@@dana6814 According to Orthodox teaching, our sins are simply forgiven when we repent, no satisfaction needed, vicarious or otherwise. God never punishes the innocent in place of the guilty, as that would plainly be injustice. Every parable on forgivenness illustates this. Jesus died as the penalty for all sins in general, as the penalty for sin is simply to die, but in His resurrection He defeated death for all of us. We continue to die because of Adam's sin, but one day God will raise us all from the dead because of Christ. Even the wicked are raised to eternal life because of Christ, but whether that life is one of torment or worship depends on the relationship with God that we cultivated in this life, whether by God's grace we sowed righteousness to reap eternal life, or by the flesh we sow corruption to reap damnation.
