Wow this is real? only 10 subs 4yrs ago. I wonder how many videos he uploaded at this point with only 10 subs. The crazy part is you would expect the video to be flawed or just noticable he was knew to this. This video is just as well articulated and easy to follow as the videos he post in 2024.. Patrick Stirling is The king of daVinci resolve. From the very first time i Downloaded Davinci, almost everything i learned came from this channel, not to mention all the templates/plugins, ect he gives away for FREE to everyone is insanely generous and extremly appreciated

- Spacebar - Play / Stop - L - Begin forward playback - k - Stop playback - J - Begin backwards playback - Double pressing L / J will increase the speed of the playback - B - Blade edit mode - Ctrl+B - Cut at playhead (faster than switching to Blade mode) - Backspace - Delete clip (the one highlighted in red) - Delete key - Ripple delete (will joint and fill the empty space left by the deleted clip, in order for this to work; go up to Timeline and make sure "Selection Follows Playhead" is enabled) - Alt+Scroll wheel - zoom in/out (timeline) - Shift+S - Audio scrubbing (audio review while moving fast through playbacks) - I - Set in-point - O - set out-point - F9 - insert clip to timeline I want to thank you, Patrick, for making this video. I always come back to it whenever I get rusty in Resolve to refresh my memory. This video has laid many cornerstones of my Resolve skills.

I'd like to share a little advice that helped me a lot. If you're using OBS to record, there's an addon you can install called "InfoWriter". Basically it lets you use a hotkey while you're recording to add a time-stamp to a text file. When you're done recording or streaming, you can open the file and it has the time marks for all the times you pressed the hotkey. This allows you to find your highlights or whatever worthy content there was during your session without having to scrub afterwards.

READ THIS (I really like my method lol) I just rebound Razor (Ctrl+B) to i, bound "Start to Playhead" to U and bound "End to Playhead" to O. This makes trimming clips instantaneous and I can refine the video SUPER fast. (and bind "mark in/out" to q/w and "clear in and out" to E)

Great video as always, I would like to add that you can also use the jog wheel to scrub through the clips, plus F9 works great, but you can also drag and drop the clip by just clicking on the video from the source viewer and drag it to the timeline after placing the in and out markers. This gives you a bit more granularity and control over where that clip goes, that's what I feel.. Keep em coming!

Dude this was such a frickin lifesaver thank you. Do you have any idea if using the in and out points method will save my PC crashing on larger projects? My passion is sniping montages for CoD, but it usually involves scrubbing through weeks of footage at a time to find multiple clips, and I've been dragging entire files into the timeline and scrubbing through for clips. That method was getting overwhelming the more complex I want to make my projects, hence my search and subsequent finding of this video. Thank you again, seriously helpful
@PatrickStirling3 жыл бұрын
you might save a bit of processing not dragging all that to the timeline. I'd be super interested to know what your experience is like, though!

@@PatrickStirling Back with results. The processing and clunkiness of cutting things in the timeline was just almost completely eliminated. A few trim jobs here and there and some cuts for effects and such, but no more dumping the whole file in and then scrubbing through and cutting/deleting. Managed to go through ~16 hours of recordings and get it down to about 17 minutes pre-edit in maybe 4 hours? Also ended up creating and new bin to dump subclips into when I know I'll need more than one set of in/out points in a larger file. Idkwtf I was doing before honestly 🤣🤣 this was way easier. Thank you so much man.
