Disagree, sign Boqvist, give Silovs what’s left of the LTIR… stop trading away draft picks and prospects!

@mylesbent1149 so Silovs is worth 2.75 right now? He's an rfa and he just played in the playoffs, although he played very well. 2 years 1-1.25 tops. Boqvist was signed by Florida. Save the LTIR for dman like Oleksiak, Romanov or maybe Gavrikov. Romanov would be ideal with a long term contract.

I will not be surprised if there are still some moves to be made by the Canucks - the forward positions currently look very much like a log-jam. If a couple of the AHL players are going to be getting a legitimate chance to crack the lineup, something has to give. I wonder if a couple of the bottom six players will be moved so the AHLers who are making league minimum will get a chance, and the Canucks would have a bit of cap space to add another D-man. Having Desharnais, Forbort, Juulsen and Friedman be the 5th to 8th defencemen doesn't give me a heck lot of confidence that there is enough skills there.

Theyre arent many acquisitions they could add. No cap space left. After ltir room and signing silvis maybe they could add a 1.5 mill guy at the absolute most but thats it.

I like Boqvist, but he's even smaller than Hronek. If he's a second pairing guy away from Hughes, sure. But if it's Boqvist and Hughes, that's a very small pairing. I'm not as obsessed with size as some people, but a guy like Hronek who is 6' tall is probably as short as I want to go with Hughes. This is why I don't like trading 1st round picks, because potentially you can get that ideal D pair for Quinn who has decent size but can still skate. On a second pairing, Boqvist might work.

They can move Podkolzin for extra $1 million. Add a extra center for the grinding line. Can play with DiGiuseppe ??? Sherwood Aman is alright but better as backup or in the AHL. I do like Karlsson.

1) sign Silovs 2) save the cap space and look to take advantage of other desperate teams who are pressed against the cap. I think a trade of Mercer for Hoglander makes sense for both sides. We get Mercer who is a RW/C, who can play up and down the lineup. Might be a good option next to Petey and we can lock him up 3 years. Mold him in to the 3rd line center for the following year and then graduate Lekkerimaki. Jersey gets a player who had a statistically better season, is super dynamic and plays with edge, but is on a cost controlled contract this season for a mere 1.1 million.
@8r3nYT
@8r3nYT 21 күн бұрын
@@kodyknight273 Why are you trying to get rid of Hoglander 💀 24 goal season and he's only 23 I don't think he's going to produce significantly less next season. Better to try and trade Podkolzin if he doesn't work out than Hoglander.
@kodyknight273
@kodyknight273 21 күн бұрын
@8r3nYT absolutely not. I just think Mercer may be a better fit long term for the club. Great hands in front of the net, good in the corners. I think that could be a long term solution for 3rd line center. Not to mention I think that Hoglander is going to be trade bait this year. 1) he's going to want a fat raise 2) Lekkerimaki is coming 3) Tocchet doesn't seem to trust him in high leverage situations. Doesn't play PP or PK. 4) his value will be relatively high for what we need, which is a 2 way physical LHD that can log 17-20 minutes a night or a long term solution at 3rd line center (preferably RH)
@chrisjoseph6466
@chrisjoseph6466 22 күн бұрын
The Canucks still need a right hand center for the bottom six that is decent at faceoffs and pk.
@CHIPSSALTY

You can sign Tyson Barrie for $1.5m, which the Canucks cannot really afford after signing Silvos. Or you can sign Kevin Shattenkirk or Adam Boqvist at league minimum. Boqvist is not going to get a $2.39m contract. Barrie is also quite a defensive liability. Even when he was in his prime back then, he was constantly a minus player. I think more urgently, we need another 2nd line guy to add to Petterson's line. Blake Wheeler, James Van Riemsdyk, Max Pacioretty, Joe Pavelski (if youc an talk him out of retirement), or go younger like Daniel Spronge and Flip Zadina.
@8r3nYT
@8r3nYT 21 күн бұрын
You prefer Hoglander to go down to bottom 6? I think they keep Hoglander there until it doesn't work out... If Pettersson is good then Hoglander will be good. The lineup is super solid rn so they should wait until trade deadline to actually move players if they plan on upgrading still... Like around the time we got Zadorov
@CHIPSSALTY
@CHIPSSALTY 21 күн бұрын
@@8r3nYT Hoglander is part of the reason for Pettersson's slump IMO. Maybe he would vastly improve next year. But at this moment I would suggest they add a veteran guy for the second line. It will help Pettersson build his confidence.

I heard that Addison has attitude problems. He wanted out of Minny. And so he goes to the sharks. Who barely even had a roster last year. And were dead last in the league. And even they said no to bringing him back. Gotta be a reason for a that. I'd steer clear from him.
