It's actually much worse then what Mac had. Mac had Bourne - the best WR on the team. He had Hunter Henry - the best pass catching TE on the team. Mac's guys last year are better then what Zappe has this year as well - as Zappe lit up teams with the same guys that supposedly Matty P was ruining. THe problem was not Matty P - or the line - or the WRs - it was Mac Jones all along.

@ashleygarcia4839 you're a pats fan but you don't understand why Zappe is better. Mac is bad on his feet, almost like his feet are 100 pounds. He gets sacked and can't even scramble a little bit in order to throw the ball out of bounds let aline make a play. ZAPPE has a solid ability to scramble out of pocket and away from NFL caliber defenders and either throw the ball out of bounds or even better....make a 1st down completion baby!!! Mac gets sacked all day every day!

So last year pats miss the playoffs by one game. This year there were 6 games that Mac played where they couldn't muster enough points and loss by one score or less. You have to imagine what the trajectory of this team had been if they just stuck with Zappe last year when Mac got injured and he was playing objectively better than him in every stat, most importatnly wins. I am not saying they get a SB, but Mac set this Pats team back years with his awful play an attitude. Mac always seemed so entitled where Zappe grinds and earns it and is all business. I'd prefer they lose and solidify a top 3 draft pick, but be lying if I said it wasn't nice seeing an actual grown up running the offense.

I'm with you. They need to cut Mac Jones, draft a QB that will compete with Zappe and lets see what happens. Keep Bill because clearly the players love him and he keeps them playing hard. Defense is still solid. This team will be better next season without Mac.

Draft a promising qb and let Zappe be their bridge qb with a shot at being more than that based on development of rookie. Zappe with a full offseason, practicing with the 1s, some more weapons, ratchet than coming in cold 3/4’s into a game to clean up Mac’s mess, could be special. Absolutely have to get rid of Mac though. That should be their first move.

I understand where the tank for Drake/Williams/MHJr crowd is coming from, but we've been winning Super Bowls consistently for 20 years before this decade. Unless you're in middle school, you have no reason to complain about us not willing to settle for a high pick just for a chance to "win more". Give Zappe a chance to prove himself. No harm to finish the season strong and attract FA talent from outside. Time after time, Zappe has completed several impressive throws, shown good pocket presence, and managed the game when needed to do so. He's clearly shown that he can win games. This is how a young Brady won in the early 2000's. Wouldn't be shocked if the Bills or Jets game is where he breaks out with a 4 or 5 TD game and helps us break the 30 point barrier.

@@masonloup8934Yes. Confidence. The most important intangible trait. When I see that in a player, I love it. You could see it in Edelman when he was a rookie. That game when he played in place of Welker in the playoff vs the Ravens and they were blown-out out at home. I remember just seeing something special in him even though the Pats lost. He was playing hard vs a Ray Lewis defense. However, he didn't play much after that, until a few seasons later when they brought in Amendola pretty much to replace Welker. They didn't really believe Edelman could fit those Welker shoes. But he did and carved his own lane. Now he is more of a legend in NE than Welker. Zappe shows flashes of that fire. I'll be rooting for him.
