Great tour. I've lived in Pattaya for 6 months and I venture into the Darkside occasionally. It feels more like a "real" version of Thailand to me.

@@Swinn-FG, thanks, for messaging back, prices are gone bananas, I got a place by zing by zing hotel. What I got is 300euros all in, large room, pool, bar, electric and water. I tried the area you mentioned but there uping the prices, I'll have to look around when I get there for the next trip.

Hi Jason. Of course I am not go to admit I know such things on here as this is a family channel. But my friend tells me 400 - 600 baht and Lady Drinks 100 to 120. I hope that helps

New today Swinn....Nice easy style. Is Darkside still viable for retirement Darkside. Hua Hin. Jomtien . My 3 options. I am 70, but in good nick . Would have a max 16k a month. Would value your advice. Good Luck with The Channell👍👍

Hi Keven, thank you for your comment. If that's 16k baht, it may be a little tight. I guess the Darkside would be a little cheaper that the others, but I don't have much experience of Hua Hin. Remember the factor in transport and some sort of health insurance. Good luck!

It was known as DARKSIDE because when tourists started arriving in Pattaya ..there was NO STREET LIGHTING IN EAST PATTAYA !! therefore the DARKSIDE !

What are the rent prices compared to central pattaya???? I could see myself live there for a slower pace of life.

Hi Mr T. It is a little difficult to compare prices as the type of accommodation is different. The best value are the town houses in East Pattaya. Good luck!

As Swinn says you can’t compare like with like. On the Darkside you can get in a gated Village a nice 2 bed, 2 bath bungalow with decent furniture in it & internal footage of about 80 sq.m for around 12,000 THB on a 12 month contract. The best way is not to go through agents but ride around the villages looking for For Rent signs with Mobile Numbers on them. As a rule of thumb for a decent furnitures property you pay 0.5% a month what it would sell for. So a 2.5 Million property will be around 12,500/month & a 3 Million around 15,000 & as per the law now you pay government rates for electric & power but best you make sure that is on the lease.

Thank you, i will when i get over there. I will live in the area a month or two before i sign a 12 months lease 😊 i got around 70k bath a month until retirement and after that i got slightly more.

@@mrt6349 12K rent plus utilities, Wi-Fi, food, toiletries, laundry, little motorcycle to get around on, bits & bobs you probably looking at around 30K a month give or take 5K depending on what & where you eat. Then you got your health insurance & fun money.
