How lovely to be able to join you on your deck on a warm day whilst it is pouring with rain here in the UK. Loved seeing your yarn choices. The farm looks so green. The potato fields are blooming well and they contrast well with the rich red soil. 🇬🇧

Thank you for another lovely episode. I was watching in my sunroom and there was slight breeze blowing just as there was one at your house. For a few seconds, it was an odd feeling seeing the trees move on my screen and outside my house. I love the cowl pattern. Also, the potato plants reminded me of growing up on my grandparents’ farm in Virginia (USA). As a child, I thought the flowers were beautiful and spent many hours picking up potatoes. The harmony song was lovely as well. Happy knitting!

It's no surprise Simone was instantly drawn to the light blue/purple combination, as she designed her Solstice Toque in Blue Poppy and Amethyst Brooch a few years back. When I saw the beautiful cowl, something rang in my mind. I went back to the earlier episodes, and there it was in Episode 3 (16:55). Jennifer, Kim's sister, dons it for a few moments. She really enjoyed knitting the hat and went to say how much she loves Simone's designs. Both of you marveled over how well the two colours work together, and they are, in fact, absolutely gorgeous. How interesting that they have paired together for Simone's beautiful cowl. I had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer at the Knitters Frolic in Toronto in May 2019, and that's where I also saw the Solstice Toque "in the flesh". Not too long ago I ordered the yarn to knit that exact pattern. Simone's cowl was just one of the many highlights of this podcast. You both did a great job, considering you were both "left unsupervised" (LOL), and managed to improve the podcast even more by introducing books - BOOKS! Yay! Despite the heat and the mosquitoes "the size of helicopters" (lol), you put together yet another inspiring and engaging podcast. Thank you so much!! 💖💖

Love the outdoor podcast today. The potato fields remind me of my childhood. We always grew a crop of potatoes to store for winter. I remember a cousin coming to visit from the city. I am currently working on a project from Nancy Marchant’s book on tuck stitch. In it she calls brioche a single tuck stitch so Simone is correct. The book describes and has a stitch dictionary for single, double, triple and quadruple tuck stitch. Each one a an additional yarn over. On the following row the stitch is knit together with 1, 2, 3 or 4 yarn overs to make the tuck stitch.

What a beautiful potato field and all those flowers! How wonderful that you mentioned Kate from The Last Home House. I subscribe to her podcast. English paper piecing can be as meditative as knitting and thankfully one can make a small table mats instead of a whole quilt. Check out Kate's quilt for her granddaughter Agnes - all Kaffe Fassett fabrics and just a jewel! The bright colors like Tea Rose AP and Sprout sing in the quilt. Love 😍the new cowl and all the knitting goodness. Thank you from Michigan for an inspiring podcast in spite of the heat - nice filming setting. 🧶Safe travels home to Betsy.

So nice to see you outside ! I get a mental picture of you covered in rabbit fur on a HOT summer day 😂Is that what you call a Kim bunny ? I can so much understand not combing the rabbits too much in that humid weather... The Treit in Point Prim and mohair in blue will be so wonderful. I think you fit strategy should work, if you have to unravel, you can put your knitting in the freezer first, it helps a lot when unraveling mohair. Thanks Simone for that lovely Lanfear cowl, it is magical. Just bought it. There is also another free pattern that is gorgeous in Eldon lace, "Wild Swan" by Anne-Lise Maigaard & Nim Teasdale, it has a ravelry thread from 2019 with lots of great info. I knitted one with 1.33 skeins of Eldon Lace in November Sky color. Do the potato flower smell ? Were all the potatoes harvested before Fiona last year ?
@FleeceHarmonyPodcast
@FleeceHarmonyPodcast Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip about the mohair in the freezer. I don't think I will need it though. I think my strategy is working. I don't think the potato blossoms do smell. I will h ave to go visit the field and see. Yes Fiona didn't really affect the potato harvest last year - luckily for the farmers.

I love your videos. I'm learning so much about yarn and wool. What was the name of the sock yarn that Simone said was her favorite? We moved to North Carolina 20 years ago from southern Maine. We still travel to Maine to see family. We are coming to Presque Isle this fall for a family visit. I wish I had time to come to Prince Edward Island and, more importantly, your farm and shop. If I were to plan a vacation there, what time of year would you recommend? Suzanne
@FleeceHarmonyPodcast

Hi Suzanne - it was Point Prim Sock. If you aren't coming for beach time, the fall is my favourite time of year. The weather is usually good up to the middle of October. If you want to lay on the beach, mid-July to the first week of September is good.

Hi Jeanne. I assume you are talking about the Mid-Winter Blanket? It is made in Felted Tweed. If you registered for the Make Along, you should have received an email with a link that lets you access more information about the project. When you click that link you will find a button that I think says shopping list. There you will find all of the colours that are recommended for each version of the blanket. You can then order the yarn from our shop. You can use the code FestiveMartin at check out to get 10% off the yarn when you purchase 9 or more balls of Felted Tweed. Here is the link to our Felted Tweed collection: fleeceandharmony.com/collections/rowan-felted-tweed And in case you can't find the "Welcome to the Make Along" email, here is a link to a PDF I created for my last newsletter: mcusercontent.com/7be0b331ca4b266c7e352401f/files/91a4cb63-1788-4b88-8aa2-c8f37cc751af/Mid_Winter_KAL_Newsletter_PDF.pdf
