Asmon theorizes that she had 95% of her vision obscured, but if you put a cloth over your face, you’ll see that it’s more like 5% of your vision is obscured.

For Patternz and others interested in the difficulty of Alatreon let me ( and any other willing Hunters) give some insight on him. Alatreon is known as a Black Dragon, an extremely powerful Monster only held by 2 other monsters, he is meant to be hard! Alatreon has control over all the known elements in the MH games so the only way to do damage is to use elemental weapons Alatreon has a (practically) Instant Death attack known as the Escaton Judgment, which can only be weakened if you break its horns or beat an elemental threshold before his first use of the attack! The final most important thing about Alatreon is its ability to switch between elements known as “Actives” in which he has 3-Fire Active, Ice Active, and Dragon Active. His elemental weakness change depending on his Active, to simplify it Ice is good for Fire Active and vis vesa, Dragon Active is the in between state where you should maximize damage such as Aiming for a Horn break, which will lock Alatreon out of a particular Active if successfully done! This is my TLDR: Use appropriate weapons and aim for the horn before first big attack! (Any other Hunters are welcome to go into detail about Alatreon and please don’t be mad if I forgot or said something wrong😅)

Me being a Monster Hunter fan, I’m happy Patternz is getting a glimpse at the life of a Hunter! Although this way of seeing it is not the best, but hey I watched the original and then saw that you did a video and wanted to see your reaction!🎉

To answer the question, what do you get in MHW for hunting the big scary dragon boss 4,500 times? Nothing, you get nothing. It is just her "brand" to be good at killing Alatreon so she kills him a lot. If you were playing normally, to fully craft all the armor pieces and weapon for a set, I would say takes and average of 2-5 hunts. Jump it up to 5-10 if you get really unlucky with the loot drops. Point being that there is no reason other than self challenge to kill something in the game close to a hundred times, or in this case thousands of times.

For info on why she targets the head: Alatreon has essentially a party wipe attack if you don't break his horns after around 7-8 minutes. Plus yes it is a good hit marker for damage

So, for context, Alatreon is the second hardest monster in the game and has several mechanics tied to it. It has the ability to control all elements (and by extension inflict all elemental blights). The first one is an Elemental DPS check, if you fail to meet it you will get wiped by its nova called “Escaton Judgement” (unless you have extremely good timing with your group using Astera Jerky but that’s extremely unlikely). It will always use this attack when it switches from its Dragon Active state. For this reason, it’s probably like the one time Dragonblight matters, as it shuts down your elemental damage from your attacks. Alatreon starts in either its Fire or Ice Active state (depending on the quest) and will eventually switch to Dragon Active state. Its vulnerability to elemental damage varies between these states, its weakest to Ice in Fire Active mode and weakest to Fire in Ice Active mode. Its weakest to Dragon in Dragon Active mode (that said during that state its elemental hit zones are terrible). Your main goal in Dragon Active mode is to break a horn which prevents it from switching to the opposite Elemental State (and thus becoming immune to the best element to shut its powers down with) when it finishes using Escaton Judgement (it doesn’t seem to impact the damage of the attack through as far as I’m aware, so if you failed the DPS check you’ll still be wiped)

12:45 Ok so I'd like to give a bit of context on why targeting the head can be important (gonna clarify real quick, I'm recent to MH:W and most of the specific details i mention about this monster is just stuff i've heard from others in the community) if you deal enough damage, monsters can enter a state called Exhaust or KO both of which leave the monster in a vulnerable position (think of it as Flinching in Pokemon), by targeting the head you deal more damage and build up Exhaust/KO faster than by targeting other body parts another reason why you would want to prioritize the head is that in the case of that specific Monster you want to break the horns, breaking parts of a monster needs you to attack a specific body part of the monster To add in a bit more details on why your would want to break body parts, in casual gameplay it causes monsters to drop more loot, in Alatreon's case, it's also because this monster cycles through 3 elements, if it changes elements 3 times it also pops a nuke that instakills you, by breaking a horn you force the monster to go to it's previous element, delaying said nuke by 1 more element change I dunno if i explained everything correctly, but i hope this helps with understanding how that part of the game works, also, sorry if it's a bit too long to read through

2:21 It's simple that Dragon knows four different types of elements, so it's a pain in the ass to kill, and you can get pieces of one of the best armor sets in the game. But it's weak against Elemental damage, and which element will start with its random RNG? And you have to break the horns to stop it from making its One Kill Shot finisher move, and if that move goes off everybody dies finishing the hunt with the game over. Even if you're in the safety Camp Zone and the finisher still goes off, it's still game over. Because in the game Lore, that Dragon destroyed many landmarks and other nations

I clocked in 500+ hours in multiple Monster Hunter games, and the most monster kill I got is like 300 (not counting small monsters since they get in the way and gets killed by accidental) You only really need to kill 50 of a monster at most situation like crafting its gear for example. 4000 is unnecessary and its purely to study how the monster behave and react

Alatreons whole gimmick is you get one shot if the horns dont get broken in a span of ~8 minutes. Its insane they picked this monster of all of them. Doing a blindfold and successfully breaking it seems beyond insane, but maybe beating another monster in a 60 min time frame, I could see a blindfolded player flail about and win

When she "has paper over the screen" she has another monitor to the side of the screen uncovered and not recorded. This is verified when she takes the apparent blindfold off and looks to the side reading a screen then realises what she does and slowly looks back to the screen infront of her.

20:31 so according to the Monster Hunter World Wiki the more players you have in the game the more Health the monster gets. It was a way for Capcom to put game balance which they probably do for all games.

monsterhunter has a target cam so ifyou have the monster targeted you can it the center camera button to shift to the monster the problem here is you don't know how far it will shift

People will hunt end game bosses like this to become experts at them. Thats why they hunts them so much. Yes its alot and clearly by that point they can make the entire armor set and all the weapons 100x over. But some people just want to hunt these monster to become experts at them to flawlessly beat them and to just have the bragging rights

Low-key disappointed all comments seem to get Alatreon's mechanics. The one hit KO ultimate attack Eschaton Judgement can only be make survivable, by passing a DPS elemental check which causes a topple each time it happens. Breaking the horns does not help the topple, it only keeps Alatreon from completing it's element switch cycle. This is a must if you're using an elemental weapon that deals no elemental damage on the 3rd elemental switch of the cycle. Her playstyle is called snipping, the reason you go for the head is because it's a weak spot, causes staggers, stun and KOs. All of that prevents the monstie from moving around to much, this is why most speed runners aim for the head all the time.

9:02 Yeah, monsters can have really rare drops, however, Monster Hunter players sometimes just like to do this. Some folks are attempting a no hit hunt, some are just training for videos, and some just like or despise a monster enough to do this. Hunting these monsters is the entire game, and when you're done with the story or even fashion hunting, then it's time to do ridiculous feats like that.

that is the thing about blindfolded runs. its kinda trash to watch sometimes cus the camera just faces all over the place for a lot of games. theirs a part in mario 64 where they lock the camera or whatever and the viewer cant see anything going on well at all but the blindfolded person obviously doesnt care. obviously with lock on a game like this tends to be well seen and centered but stuff like how he pointed out looking up doesnt even effect the weapon shows that like it would end up like that sometimes

Omg monster hunter my special interest……. Hitting the head is always a good idea for attacking monsters but Alatreon specifically you have to target his horns with elemental damage or else he does basically an ohko move on the whole field. Alatreon VERY SPECIFICALLY you have to hit the head or else you kinda just die. To an extent I can believe blindfold runs for this but yeah the camera and perfect dodges are just a dead giveaway. Ngl though it does make me want to see someone actually blindfolded using an insect glaive that sounds like an absolute mess

she really just kills it so much for the clout, its like the hardest fight in the game, so shes just showing off her ability to do it. theres no drop so rare you cant get it in 10-20 kills.

I've been doing Permadeath Runs on Expert Survival in Skyrim. I can literally start a new game, and get up to beating Bleak Falls Barrow blindfolded because of how often I've had to restart. While some are audio cues, the majority are just a list of how many seconds I need to move forward before turning. The enemies are luck, wide magic, or just trying to run through if I don't lose track of where I am.

You wouldn't even need to see the boss if you're going off of audio cues only. Why keep adjusting the camera?

you absolutely could keep the camera on the monster at all times, but it requires MASHING a button and that would make every other movement impossible to do accurately blindfolded there is spacial audio but its not clear enough to tell that a monster is going to hit you clear enough to accurately dodge or time a dodge if it was idk 15k kills of the thing then id believe it but not 4k

Why the 4.5k kills. This bugs me so much, is it a lie to just help sell how well she knows the fight and make the blindfold run a bit more believable? Theres no reason for that many kills, even if all you do is help randoms clear the quest its absurd because even if you're good your teammates will fail the quest for you and it wont count. I dont even think all of team darkside has that many combined kills of him. I really want to see her hunter journal or hear the back story as to why Alatreon and why that many hunts. Even if you want to make every linked weapon and armor it would be under 25 id imagine, varied by rng. Its been years since ive played so i might be off but this is so weird to me. I just dont believe that number is legit, just like the blindfold run.

Didn't she try again, and proved this was real by going over the claims and nitpicks by giving valid reasons as to why this and that? I haven't watched the video yet, but I'm super sure that the blindfolded run was actually real. She shined the light through the blindfold to show us she can't see through it, covered her screen, and such in the second run with the same tactics. There was a point where there was a prompt on the screen saying someone..disconnected I think in the first run, and people said that she moved her cursor to click the prompt away, yet the cursor did not show up as a pointer, meaning that the cursor was outside of the box and was just to reposition / aim for the head? She also went over the audio cues, and such. I know I've been yapping, but I'm just very sure that it was real, and I find it sad that people would find it fake. I might be wrong and in the minority, but sometimes I believe something, and am really behind it. This is one of these moments. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but really give me some good arguments, and not just "Uhm, you're wrong because I said so.". Thanks for reading this Edit: Turns out that it was, indeed, faked.
