While I have no dog in the fight I do feel the need to correct pat that no one involved in mister is making money from the mister because the mister isn't a product. It's a DE-10 Nano board that's from Intel and is meant for education/IoT stuff. The mister project is basically just a bunch of software packages/sets of instructions that runs on the DE-10 nano. I'm not saying folks don't make money from the mister project though. There is a robust market of 3rd party accessories that have popped up to work with the mister project. Are some of the founders and devs for the various cores involved in those ventures? It's possible. I'll say this though, the Mister projects worst enemy is it's community and leaders. A lot of weirdo's and evangelists who treat the thing with a reverence that breeds toxicity.

The Kotor Remake was kind of bizarre. Aspyr the studio is almost exclusively known for porting games from one platform to another. Usually console/PC games to mobile platforms. The only thing I can see they actually developed themselves before this was a VR game in 2018. If they've done more feel free to tell me since everything else they've ever done seems to be ports from what I can see. Why EA handed off a remake of a stone cold classic to a studio not known for making games is absolutely beyond me. It's like asking someone who specializes in home repair and flipping houses to build you a house from scratch. Don't be shocked when the house doesn't pass inspection because they've never had to lay foundation before.

FYI that EA isn't involved in the KOTOR remake. A bit surprising given that EA owns Bioware (who made the original game) and also has had the license to make all Star Wars video games for years. However, their license is expiring and a different studio (Aspyr) was developing this game for release after EA's exclusivity deal ends this year. Shame it couldn't get done. People are frothing at the mouth for good Star Wars games and especially Star Wars RPGs. KOTOR 1 and 2 are basically the only game in town and they're 19 and 17 years old now.

Sega is brilliant cause they're probably just SAYING it's gonna be "limited" so everyone will rush out and buy it day one thinking they can resale.

Beepo sold an NFT of a collage of his past work to a friend and business partner whom had a crytocurrency that Beepo owned 20%. It was a marketing stunt to get people interested in NFT and crypto, nothing more.

The best free updates to anything Ive ever played would be Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on 3DS. Every month for like 7 or more months, we got a good update package with new quests that had new armor sets and weapons, plus some other little goodies, different monster variants, and they were great. Some of the best armor sets came in those updates (USJ Star Knight armor anyone?). Right when the update would drop there would be dedicated players grinding for those weapons and armor sets. Honorable mention would have to go to No Mans Sky as they have really turned that game around, although it could be argued that it should of been similar to that at launch.

About gatekeeping and not wanting other people to have access to the FPGA cores - you didn't mention that Analogue aren't releasing their own cores. Those aren't going to be allowed on MiSTer or anything else. Their 'open' fpga is strictly one-way. They get other peoples cores without giving access to their own.

I really enjoy your take on the pocket vs mister situation, here's my opinion take it or leave it, not all of us have the time to build our own Mister, not all of us want to deal with all the bugs that come along with it some of us want something that we can just plug and play and be done with it and that's where analogue excels. But again to each their own if you would prefer to play Mister that's fine by me I personally prefer analogue as it makes my console shelf look sexy, I can easily afford their products and I have never had an issue acquiring one. Unfortunately, Diablo Immortal is ridiculously predatory. Spending 100k, the guy maybe has a few level 5 legendary gems, which, each level 5 legendary gem once fully upgraded, has slots to put more Level 5 gems into, and you can have like 5+ gems on your character, which all require multiple level 5 gems levelled and inserted into them. 100k is nowhere near enough to get all your gems fully levelled.

The only "useful" case of an NFT so far, is by Funko. They release nfts of their figures in digital trading card blind packs. Collect a specific amount and you can redeem them for a physical limited run figure. Besides that tho... I don't think there's really any other examples, lol

Honestly very disappointed Analogue’s business practices (ex: the BS with mGBA dev) have not been discussed. Kind of feels like they are getting a free pass here. Pocket’s release has been a complete nightmare and they have largely failed to communicate anything with customers/ the community.

Close-mindedness you both express towards blockchain technology is somewhat surprising considering your ages and a lifetime of being invested in technology. Not all are "Crypto Bros" Many of the most brilliant people are involved in crypto/NFTs. I am 47. Been involved in tech since 1981, coding since 1985(on a Tandy trs-80). College educated professional. Not a crypto bro. There are infinite uses for crypto and smart contracts. Obviously there are bad actors. Billions of dollars are in play. To be totally honest, you guys sound like grumpy old men who are set in your ways and unwilling to embrace or even accept change/advancement. I bit of genuine research would be seriously enlightening, I would suspect. I love your podcast, and will continue to listen!
