Fun fact: Banning, CA where the Pinball Museum is located was also the home to one of the two remaining factories in the world that make lacquer blanks for production of vinyl records. It went up in a huge fireball early 2020 leaving only one remaining lacquer manufacturer in Japan. Sadly the two interesting things about Banning are now gone.

Key Master… this thing was in our hotel and all over Myrtle Beach SC when we went a few weeks back. I actually read up and studied how it worked and was surprised it was allowed. What I read, was that the amount required to unlock each item had to be right below the retail price of the item… so if you played “perfect” you could unlock an iPad by spending $800 or less… hah

I got thrown out of the Oscar Meyer weenie-mobile at the NFL Experience in '96. The hatch was open and I thought there was a museum inside or something.

Really glad I had the opportunity to attend the pinball museum in banning. Sensory overload of free to play pinball machines, like every arcade machine, and some rare coin operated oddities. Though I was always curious how the museum managed to fund the whole operation. It was a huge location with big monthly bills.

Saw the nba jam 1up in Walmart. I’d pay 200, maybe, cuz I know I’d play it for 10 minutes and then play 2k. It’s fun for parties, but 500 is more then I’d spend. Not to say it’s too much to ask, it’s a good deal for a cabinet.

I have a key master machine in a shitty little mall near me and the machine has obviously barely ever been used and hasn't been updated since it was bought is my guess. It has an original 3ds and an old 1st gen Ipad mini in there as the top prizes. So, probably got put up in 2012 or 2013 and nobody has played it enough to win anything.

I also once saw a Hershey kiss mobile in a parking lot in which a turkey waddled up to it and stared into the chrome reflection of itself. As I tried to whip out my flip phone in 2006 my friend called and ruined it, as the turkey waddled away right after. Odd experience though.

When I use to stock claw machines 20 years ago, if a machine paid out too many toys I was told to loosen screw in the cabinet that makes the claw weaker so it paid out less. I only lasted 6 months in that job.

I do not think "Arcade Culture" is going to return. I think of it much like attending an NFL game in the stadium VS watching the game live from your couch. In the stadium, you have to deal with obnoxious fans crazy expensive food/beverages, standing in lines (for everything) Where at home you can use the bathroom whenever you need to, the food is better and WAAAY cheaper, no obnoxious fans and the view is always better, plus close up replays etc etc. In Arcades you have to wait in line for certain games, obnoxious teens/tweens/20 somethings (trying to act kool and trash-talking/taunting) Video game systems on the PC/PS5/XBOX however can recreate the Arcade games (in most cases) to perfection and when you want to play online (in order to socialize) you can choose who you play with or mute certain players if they become annoying AF. Plus food and beverages (which I think most Arcades would not allow around the game cabinets). I look back at Arcades with mostly fond memories, but being 48 years old, I do not want to have to deal with all the bullshit that would go on in modern arcades.

Shout out to Veronica Mars. My favorite show. Worth a watch if you’ve never seen it.

I'm not sure what the problem is with the hot dog versus hot dog buns. I bought an eight pack of ballpark all beef bun size hot dogs and get a eight pack of ballpark hot dog buns and everything works out perfectly.
