Since we are calling her "she" and trans, we know that means she currently identifies as a woman. She is clearly presenting like a woman, most people would assume she is a cis woman. If she was a trans man (presenting as a man), she would act more like a man and we would say "he" now. Trans women (Patti) were assigned male at birth.

I am gently letting you know that you are misinformed. First, Patti is straight AND trans so she is a straight person too (you implied she wasn't). The problem with cis people playing trans is that trans people are oppressed so getting cis people to tell their story is like refusing to let trans people speak for themselves. Trans people are much more aware of cis stories because that's all society ever talks about... and cis people are not oppressed for being cis, so it is not oppressing for someone else to "tell their story" because the story is not specifically about being cis. Any time a cis person plays a trans person, the story is about being trans. It would not be a problem if a cis person played a trans person who 100% acted cis (like most trans people do) and you only found out circumstantially that they were trans.

She has spoken out against Ellen's history of harmful behavior, so she is understandably nervous around this evil woman
