When I was a little girl I use to sit on my grandmother's lap and she would rock me in her rocking chair. This was the song she'd always sing to me . When I had children I'd rock them and sing this. Now as life goes on, I rock my sweetheart, my.little granddaughter and sing this to her. When I do, my grandmother miraculously appears in my heart. She's there with us. I view it as a time to visit. A gift.

I was born in 56 my brother in 58. whilst I have no memory of my Fther singing this then he loved John McCormack and had a lovey tenor voice himself. whenever I heard this song i think of my infant brother.. but i was only 22 monhts older.. I often wonder if my Dad had sung it about him. I think he must have and that is what I am remembering. To this day my brother has beautiful blue eyes.

My Mom used to sing this to me while she rocked me to sleep. I'd like to think she only ever sang it to me, but we all had blue eyes, and there were 5 boys. And 2 girls.

My Grandfather (b. 1905) and my Mom used to sing this to my brother and I. I sang it to my children. Such a comforting little song

Patti Page(Tennessee Waltz fame)performance of the Nevin/Stanton's delectable sweet ballad, lacked the natural interpretation & emotional content required for this sweet ballad. Patti, read & understand the beautiful lyrics before you perform. Your crecendo finnish at the end drifts away from the real nature of the ballad. That is a big mistake & an insult to the composer & lyricist.

This performance was filmed for her TV show and due production constraints I seriously doubt whether she had the time to think about what she was singing vs. were she recording in the studio.
