Butterfield, Jerome Arnold, Sam Lay, Mark Naftalin, Elvin Bishop, Michael Bloomfield, the Stones, and The Blues Project, gave me goose bumps. It dawned on my 16 year old brain, "So this is the Blues... ?" Of course it took a few years for me to discover Muddy Water, Howlin' Wolf, and Little Walter. Goose bumps again. Finally, in 1972 I discovered the Holy Golden Grail, Robert Johnson, and I never, ever heard Blues the same way agin. -Doug, Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Paul is one the best blues harmonica player, possibly the best of all, with Walter Horton and Little Walter.

Butterfield turned me on to blues as a high school sophomore with the '65 The Paul Butterfield Blues Band album. Man, Bloomfield on lead, Bishop on rhythm. What a record. The Chicago scene led to the Delta and this young fella never looked back.

Saw this live on television that night in -78. I remember I liked the guitar player with that red 335 more than the other guy. Later I learned who they were. Feiten could have backed of a bit, well, a lot in my opinion. I sat and just waited for Atansoff to play more solos. Now when I'm listen to this again 46 years later, Atanasoff...wow, still the same feeling.

Buzzy Feiten was great! I saw this lineup in Buffalo, New York in about 1973. They were good but I kept wondering what's wrong tonight? Then I realized they sounded white, because Buzzy was more of a fourth generation Rock guitarist. They'd lost the early Chicago Blues style that Elvin Bishop and Mike Bloomfield... both white... had learned directly from the Black masters of Chicago's 1950s-60s Blues clubs. With Buzzy, Bloomfield's not wrong. Not bad. Not the Paul Butterfield true Blues Band I came up on in the sixties. -Doug Pratt, Atlanta, Georgia, USA
