Thanks for the info. I personally never want to go to New York NY. My wife and I both hate big crowds. They have what, 2 to 4 million people there? Way too many for us. LOL

I've only been once, but I enjoyed it. I went to where the twin towers were and through Battery Park. I didn't get to the "thick of things." Like you, I prefer my dozen or so people per square mile. hahaha. When I went, I stopped at a tourist information center in New Jersey. I asked the guy which was the best way to drive into New York City. He lowered his eyebrows and asked if I'd ever driven in New York City. I told him that I'd never been there. He kept telling me to leave my car in New Jersey and take a water taxi. He explained that parking in New York is nearly impossible and the traffic is horrible. I took his advice and was glad I did. lol

New York has a population of about 8 million, about twice as much as any other U.S. city.

Was the family named that made the purchase of Manhattan ever made public other than Peter Minuit, Minnewit. Did the research, figured all roads led back to Rome during that time. What happened when the people who actually owned the land found it was sold/stolen, they named parks and streets after him, seems like it was set up to go down the way it did. Love to know the true history of our country. Thanks for sharing, God bless you Sir!

I thank you for bringin back Paul Harvey. A true icon of intlligentsia. Pleas don't quote his work with an ongoing blather. In this case I will say, on behalf of at least all Canadians we are SO sick of New York City. Honestly; were it ripped off the map tomorrow we would be relieved. There is a great large world out there. N.Y. City be damned.

All very interesting, but you don't address Paul Harvey's Rest of the story punchline. Manhatten was not owned by the Canarsee tribe. They were simply visiting or I would guess, simply occupying the ground, gathering and hunting for what they needed/wanted. They snookered the Dutch. Took a little money for something they did not actually possess.

I guess that's just another one of the many blurred lines in history. You're right that they were probably just occupying the land. Native American's didn't own land like we think of land ownership with deeds and such. :)

This is off topic, but have you ever been to Bienville Parish, LA? That's where Bonnie and Clyde were killed on May 23, 1934. I was just wondering if you had ever been there, and if you have is there a marker or anything? (Pointing to myself) morbid curiosity. Maybe you could do a story on location, if it's not too far away. Just wondering

I live in Bienville Parish a few miles from where they were killed. Have you seen the Highwaymen on Netflix, I worked on that film while it was in Bienville Parish. I'll take that as a request and will make a video for KZfaq soon. :)
