somehow, in all his glory, i feel like Mike Clark is still such an underrated drummer! so many funk and jazz concepts he’s mastered and effortlessly demonstrates here, should be lots more citing him, one of my favorite players

For rock, if John Bonham was still here. Jimmy Chamberlin does some nice work with Catalano. Subtler funk, but it's there.

As a drummer, mike bonham and zigaboo Gadd are probably the guys that have leaked into my playing the most. Paul is one of my five favorite bassist in no order with Jamerson Bootsy Victor(not his slapping) and maybe entwhistle i’m forgetting someone though

Lol, yes. And the ninja thing is true. He rolled up on me on one of the comment sections in KZfaq, and I was like, "wait a minute...I didn't know who I was talking to" lol. Never met him in person, but that online interaction was funny. He's a kind ninja, lol.

Mike you kill me damn I love you just being you on and off the skins you remind of so many friends I had in my early lifetime from the Jersey shore ie Ernie Boom Carter /David Sanchez another subject & time (Boss) Bruce I smile everytime we'll see each other again can't kill that funk Anthony keep being nervous you hold the bottom down anyway all up from there your still here my friend in Heaven you know you cats are tearing it up where's the one! Wow, I can't believe not only have I never seen this video, but also that it has less than a thousand "likes." Rest in Power Paul Jackson! This man played funk the way it should be. No slapping, no nonsense. Just laying down the dang groove!

45 years ago in 1976 I was lucky enough to get to play (guitar) with Mike and Paul for a few weeks. Although they had just gotten off the road w/Herbie, they were in essence just neighborhood Oakland guys. Paul actually didn't own a bass at the time, I had to lend him mine, and Mike's kit did not have any two drums that matched. This was exactly how they played and they could play it all damn day.

@@gustavosanders1948 My pleasure. I had a great time with them. But you know what killed me? Here I was, with my world heroes. And Paul didn't even own a bass, nor a car. When I picked him up, he was living in a complete dump.

Don't know if you met him right after those circumstances. In any case for me it's very sad I will no longer have the opportunity o meet one of my bass heroes.
