4/20 + Melotone COMPTON/WURLITZER at COMPTON LODGE SAPCOTE
at a Live Performance in June 2014.
This number was a Number One Chart Hit for Elvis Presley, released as a 45rpm Record in 1960
by RCA Victor, was Presley's biggest selling single, which achieved sales of over 20 million copies.

Very nice arrangement Paul. I also enjoyed your tasteful registration choices. About 1969 and 1971 I was playing five nights a week in an Italian supper club. I had my Hammond organ there and of course I was asked to play a fair amount of Italian music such as this tune. I haven't played O Sloe Mio in a long-long time. One piece that was requested a lot at that venue was Gina Nia Mia. Gary

“O Sole Mio” Love the organ, especially the theatre organ. There is a film (was on ‘KZfaq’) that shows how Compton builds its organs.

You've hit the nail on the head Jack, it does have a very wierd sound. They were loved by some players but hated by others! Even worse was the Compton Melotone Organ, some folk won't agree, apologies in advance. I played one in a pub occasionally when I worked for a guy called Bill Dickson who operated a company called The Elecric Organ Hire Company from his home in Maidenhead. This Melotone he hired to a pub in Chalk Farm, London. I played there a few full weekends, Thursday to Sunday nights inclusive, and when I arrived they had had a "Puch-Up" in the early evening and were bringing out more tables and chairs from the cellar. The life of the itinerate musician is not always a happy one. Some would say "Yeah, but it's Great Experience"! Thanks for commenting Jack, Best Wishes from the old "Pro" in the Rhondda, PAUL.
