The melody master. This is the only single my Dad ever bought in my lifetime. I remember us all sitting around listening to it on the first play. He was silent after it ended. That was the highest praise accessible to him.

My Mum's favourite song. She played it over and over again. I think the bagpipes have a very strong emotional appeal for a great many people. To hear them is to bring out a lot of different emotions. I love them.

My family lived in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky for about a hundred fifty years. That mountain music always sounded to me like Scottish music, but without the pipes. When Paul started this with just the guitar it took me back to that music my grandparents used to listen to. A lot of Scots immigrated to those mountains, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised lol

Paul is an outstanding man, kind and witty. In a world of talented people, Paul McCartney is a standout the most amazing talent of my lifetime - and he created most of the music for my life. Saw the Beatles in 1964 in Indianapolis, 5 dollar tickets for Box seats - so wonderful - still have the stubs. Now, in 2022 seeing Sir Paul in the Carrier Dome, so pleased to see him again. Sir Paul, you are the gift that brings smiles and so many great memories, Thanks to you!! I now am brought to tears rather easily hearing your songs. ROCK ON PAUL!!

Not sure why this showed up in my KZfaq suggestions today. Not only a great tune but now years later brought back many great youthful memories of Carradale, Saddell, Torrisdale and Campbeltown. That was quite the road in an old VW bug. Miss it.

oh mein Gott, wie schön dieser Song ist. First time i heard "Mull of Kintyre", was in 1981 in an old Farmershouse (Bauernhof "alten Vogtshof") in Hinterzarten. I will never forget when i´m a 15 year old boy at this time. We stay the hole summer there, i had a great time with my friends. For me "Mull of Kintyre" belongs to the summer of `81 many lovely greetings from old Germany (Hochschschwarzwald) "from me to you" (nice memory) - old Beatles fan, Klaus

I have followed Paul McCartney all my life. I loved the Beatles as being a part of my youth, however Paul was my favorite as his talent surpassed them all. When he came up with the song I cried the first time I heard it. My family immigrated from Scotland and I believe it's in our DNA when we hear the pipes played. Every parade having the pipes gave me chills and I'd raise a glass to Scotland as tears ran down my face, as they are now. I'm now in my 60's and this, I believe tells the history of Scotland and our roots. Thank you Sir Paul. God bless your talent.

I have felt exactly the same way , Karen , ever since I first heard the song on the radio at Christmas time in 1977 ... and every time since then . The best setting for any Highlander pipe band to play and to be heard is when they are marching along the beach . I have heard the Highlander pipe bands play in many different settings ... and nothing beats playing the pipes and drums on the beach . Paul thinks of every thing . Having the Campbelltown Pipe Band marching up Saddell Beach past the Saddell Castle to the cottage is perfect ! Peace and good health to you ... Miles from Canada .

Hearing the pipes and drums coming, did not only put chills down their spine. but fear in the enemy that the Scott were about to fight. As they say bagpipes were invented to sound like evil spirits coming out of the bogs, to put fear and trembling into the enemy so they would be demoralized before battle. Here is Lord Lovat talking about WW2 D-Day and Pipes; kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iqp1gpOArqioaIk.html

2007..2011 having PTSD, I wandered the UK on a bicycle well equipped for camping. Scotland in Winters, England in the Summers (Scotland was disinfested in the Winters - no midges and no tourists). The experience was sublime, beautiful, peaceful and healing. Of course I several times toured and camped around the Mull of Kintyre, and often sang this tune as I went. I didn't know that Macca had lived near to Campbelltown and raised his kids there - thought it was a spur of the moment song. So thank you for this vid - it raises wonderful memories. :-)

When my son was born, he had some troubles that kept him in hospital, ultimately requiring surgery. My wife and I stayed with him for all of our waking hours in the intensive care unit for weeks. In my first moment of peace together with him in my arms, I wanted to sooth him with song. The Mull of Kintyre popped right into my head, and I sang it over and over - dozens of times a day to this beautiful boy, with his medical tubes and wires attached. I'm not sure why the song came to mind. Maybe it's the song's yearning for a return to home, the way it sounds sung at a slower lullaby-like tempo, or the warm imagery it invokes. Whatever it was just felt right. Now fully recovered, and ten years old, both my son and his younger brother request the song it every night at bedtime. Given I tend to do a few run-throughs each night, I've probably sung it over 10,000 times to them:) It chokes me up to think of the circumstances surrounding the first time I sang it to him, and reminds me of how lucky we are to have him and his brother every time since. Thank you for that Paul. Tip for parents singing at bedtime: I do tend to reduce the tempo a bit, and forego the modulation from verse to verse. This enables me to run it in a loop without the building of energy (and volume) as the register rises. Also for best sleeping results, I leave the bagpipes out of it:)

During the 70s I was a foreign student in London and was on holiday up north at Teeside to visit some friends when I heard this song. Thanks for the memories Paul. Always been your fan.

It is 2022. I watched Paul on the Ed Sullivan Show in the 60’s. And I still love his music and his love of life. Amazing to watch.

Ah, our youth did not last long, did it? Then, we hear a tune.... Thank you, Paul, for the music.

Music is a Universal Medicine given to us by the Universe we exist in. Some folks get to "channel" that energy in a focused way that can reach those who aren't so naturally inclined, or have been "diverted from the path" by forces with lack of vision. This man has become a megaphone for us fortunate enough to turn in the right direction!!!😍😙😎
