The "Ram" album is full of great McCartney tracks - but this is one of the best. Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys said this was one of his favorites (it has some excellent vocal layering - which was a trademark of some of Brian's best work). The high trumpet is a piccolo trumpet. The lyric that you asked about is exactly what you thought it was: "love is long". One of my favorite parts of the lyrics is the sexual double entendre... "Do you love me like you know you ought to do? Or is this the only thing you want me for? Well, I've been meaning to talk to you about it for some time Sweet little lass you are.... my long haired lady." That "sweet little lass" part can very easily be heard as "sweet little ass" - which I'm sure Paul put in there to be funny (and a little bit naughty). I especially love how well this group of musicians sing the amazing vocals in the 2nd song (especially at the end of the song). They did a special performance of the entire "Ram" album for McCartney's 70th birthday on June 18th, 2012 in Copenhagen. The performers are "Tim Christensen and the Damn Crystals" along with guests Mike Viola and Tracy Bonham. Tim Christensen is the guy with the beard who sings lead on both of these songs. Tim first found fame in the band "Dizzy Mizz Lizzy" in 1994. His band (The Damn Crystals) are... Lars Skjaerbaek - lead guitar Soern Koch - bass Christoffer Moller - keyboards Jesper Lind - drums Also included are special guest Mike Viola (sings lead on many of the songs (like "Dear Boy" & "Monkberry Moon Delight") and plays trumpet, keys and acoustic guitar. And special guest Tracy Bonham - played violin and sings lead on "Heart of the Country). Tracy had a hit single (Mother Mother) in the 1996. Tim and his band are all from Denmark - and English is their second language. Mike and Tracy are from the U.S. (friends of Tim's).

This one's so cool. Paul being all sugar and honey trying to woo and reassure her and she's all sass and crass, having none of it. When you're wrong, love is long... whatever that means.

Sounds good. But the lyrics are Not very Well to me. I dont understand so much of this song sadly.
