Glad Paul remembers the good times with George. Things were tense between them after the Beatles got big. They almost never spoke in the 1970's. They had an on-again, off-again friendship in the 80's. But working together on the Anthology projects in the 90's brought a closeness. There was even reports that George asked Paul to help him with a few tracks on the album that would later be "Brainwashed". Sadly, George died before he and Paul could work on those tracks.

Paul’s not ever going to formally retire, it’s not in his blood. Remember he was the one who kept the Beatles together for an extra few years after they stopped touring and Epstein died. Everyone else kinda fell off after that. Not to mention the songs released after John’s death, particularly Now and Then, are testaments to Paul’s perseverance and persistence. He ain’t retiring until he takes his last breath. And that will be a truly sad day

Yeah I gotta interject that John wasn't the best of people, not a bad guy, but definitely not a wonderful person. I was just reading about Mal Evans and how close he was with the Beatles. When I read about his death(police shot him when he pointed an air rifle at them while high on valium) he was cremated and his remains were lost for a time while being mailed to his family, Lennon replied to inquires with: "They should have checked the dead man files" that just bothers me...

McCartney is one of the great storytellers to come out of the 20th century. One of a kind and a reminder that music is more than singles om spotify or commercials. Kids these days have no clue. They think "i feel good" was made as jingle for cornflakes. Just saw the other day that "Take on me " was used in The Leftovers and all the comments were like this oi youtube : The leftovers brought me here. People don't know their own music history anymore, It makes me sad. Just watered out nonsense in the same two chords in all pop music these days. I remember when BRIAN EPSTEIN died. That was a sudden shock for everyone as well. I was 16 at the time & I thought it was beautiful of Paul to show up at Brian's funeral (or memorial) wearing a long rainbow-colored scarf wrapped around his otherwise dark, somber-looking suit. I took it at the time as a statement of "LIFE GOING ON" or "the soul emerging from death as a jewel-tone butterfly, released from earthly bondage." Paul TRIES not to be too deep, but he has a deep side that fans always got.

it easy to think of Paul as Sir Paul the refined English gent but at his concert he got to talking about the old days and I realized he's still a cool guy and a bit of a rebel. He told stories about getting high with Jimmy Page and playing jokes on Clapton and hanging with Hendrix. Paul is still the rebel kid from gritty , tough Liverpool

When I think of how all of the Beatles music still is so relevant and beautiful and how literally millions, maybe billions, still love their music. How sad we are at John and George's passing, it made me ponder about the emptiness we'll all face when, Ringo, and Paul pass. I don't believe there are men on this earth that will be missed or loved as much as those who made up the Beatles. Their music was full of love, passion, the joys of life. Now, the music coming from man if not most bands is full of hate, ugliness, drugs, references to Drugs, death, cheating on our, spouse, promiscuous sex, rampant negative emotions, etc. perhaps this is why today's music will never be long lasting like the Beatles. We have so much hatred and depravity in today's world, what is there to sing about? It can really be,depressing at times. Thank you BEATLES and all the musicians who sing about and promote love in the world, who do not fear making reference to God, Christ, and their love that has influenced the love and goodness in this world and not the negative, we see enough negativity.

It’s amazing how much of The Beatles history has come to light maybe decades after they were famous, it’s almost like these little items were meant to be found to celebrate the depth of our knowledge etc. This little tale of Paul and George shows they were really good friends from early teens and despite all the stress of being ‘Beatles’ and all the fallout in the 70’s they were still friends, just look at the start of the new video of Now and Then. Paul could do another anthology with Ringo on all the things left out on previous Anthology

+redletter2008 yet Paul went to school with George and Paul got George into the Beatles. Without Paul its unlikely we'd hear of George haha I guess that's just how it is, Paul just played a beneficiary role in Georges life.

i dont think George was afraid of John, remember he doesnt mention him in his autobiography. Also his resentment with Paul maybe is after Epstein died and in that time Paul was a freak control everyone in the band resented him

redletter2008 well Paul was the only one who could read music and play multiple instruments. He could have recorded all the songs alone and in fact did a few times haha

John could only play a ukulele when the band formed, I'm not surprised haha Seems like ego, better to accept that Paul is the musical genius and dynamo among them i think. Not every band has someone like that. There might be a better sound when everyone is involved, but if people can't get organized quickly enough..

George didn't have much good to say about Paul cos Paul frequently dismissed George and would put him down. In my opinion The Beatle who had the consistently better material post Beatles was George. He was a bloody good singer/songwriter and a damn fine guitar player.

What is scary to some are peaceful to others and "Jimmy and Jemima" are the best example of what is scary to some people , is regarded as harmless by others . Well told Sir Paul! It's a great story for him to remember.
