Directed and produced by visual artist Ben Ib.
April 2014 marks the 'Band on the Run' U.S. single's anniversary, released as a 7" on 8th April, 1974 (28th June 1974 in the UK, fact fans!).
The 'Band on the Run' album was recorded in EMI Studios, Lagos and AIR Studios, London between August and October of 1973. Wings were without a drummer at the time so Paul stepped in and recorded all the drum tracks. It was during the Lagos sessions that Paul and Linda were mugged losing their money, camera and the original album demos to the thieves!
This unfortunate event didn't stop 'Band on the Run' from becoming Wings' most successful album. It was the top selling album in the UK in 1974 and reached no.1 in the US on 3 separate occasions. It has gone on to sell over 7 million copies worldwide.
The 'band on the run' on the iconic front cover features broadcasters Michael Parkinson and Clement Freud, singer / actor Kenny Lynch, actor James Coburn, actor Christopher Lee, boxer John Conteh as well as Paul, Linda and Denny Laine
The album was re-mastered and reissued in 2010 as the first release in the on-going Paul McCartney Archive Collection, featuring previously unreleased performances and rare documentary footage.

So the drummer left on a measly wage of £70 a week when he could have been earning £2,000. And McCartney robbed the guitarist only because he claimed the right to be human and live his life outside of Wings. He robbed and kicked him out of the group under a fictitious pretext, spreading the myth that the guitarist turned out to be unprofessional and could not play the solo, which Paul played with ease. From Denny Laine, McCartney, with meanness and deceit, bought the copyrights to the Wings' joint songs, including the most commercially successful song in the UK, Mull Of Kintyre 1977. And during the Beatles period, McCartney plagiarized songs: Hey Jude, Yesterday, Blackbird. Later he passed off Lennon’s Yellow Submarine, In My Life and the joint Michelle, Eleanor Rigby, She’s Leaving Home, With A Little Help From My Friends as his own songs. Friends, don’t you think you’ve been paying this moral monster for too long?

As someone that spent all their teen years in the 80's, I had as much appreciation for the 70's classic rock. There are some songs that just have that "sound" that allows them to transcend across decades and generations. This song is one of them.

At this point of the history of Wings, you just named 2 of the 3 band members. Let's give love to Denny Laine and then consider how remarkable it is now that only 3 people are on this genuis song. But it could only start with the vision of Sir Paul McCartney.

2019’s best TV moment? It was Stephen Colbert answering Anderson Cooper’s question about grief. Colbert related to that; in the summer weeks just before his father and brothers died, he recalled that the Paul McCartney and Wings song “Band on the Run” had been a big radio hit - to this day, he said, “Do not play ‘Band on the Run’ around me, you know? . . . Yes. You become a different person. . . . You kind of re-form yourself in this quiet, grieving world. . . . It became a very quiet house and very dark. And ordinary concerns of childhood suddenly kind of disappeared. . . . I had certainly a different point of view than the children around me.” The Washington Post article by Hank Stutter and video can be found her on KZfaq 🇺🇸

Paul McCartney não economizava em melodias. Três diferentes apenas em uma canção, e que melodias!

I consider this song in particular one of the most creative songs he ever did. Three melodies in one song. I particularly like the third one that starts at 2:20 as the fastest paced one. Just a fun song to listen to.

Paul just played left handed bass and really he and Linda were the most in Love I have ever seen a couple. So sweet . I think Paul is brilliant , shit the Beatles were just perfect for the ages. I grew up with their shit stuck in my head. But here is the mostest story , I was breakin up with a 5 year girlfriend. We didn't know how? I played Paul's song, This One . from flowers in the dirt . I fricken held my first love a nice girl and we cried and cried. Thanks Paul ya , hell I don't know what to say but if you are ever in a break up. Don't do it to , This One . off flowers in the dirt. I don't care who ya are tears are gunna flow.
